Lovely three night stay

Would recommend Sun, Jan 3, 2016
A super hotel that in many ways meets its high standards. Lovely coffee machine in rooms, superb clean bathroom and bedroom, very comfortable. However, the use of gym, sauna and pool was an additional charge per day which we did not appreciate and the selection of channels on the TV were't particularly entertaining and movies were of course an additional charge. Would have liked a few more tea bags and creamer in the room, felt we were on minimum supplies! Overall however, we enjoyed the situation of the hotel, enjoyed the bike hire (although again, obviously at an extra cost!!) from the hotel - added to convenience. Very friendly staff.

Great place

Would recommend Tue, Nov 17, 2015
Hotel was very nice. Very near to central Amsterda, and not far from many great restaurants and bars. The room was very nice, very clean and a great view. I'd say the room service and pay-per-view films were a bit pricey. Nevertheless a great hotel. Will definitely go back soon

Weekend trip

Would recommend Thu, Oct 8, 2015
Hotel is in a good, quiet area, but still only a 15 min walk from main attractions. Had a lovely room facing the canal. Room was clean and a good size. Tried running a bath twice, but water was only lukewarm. Would of been nice after a day walking around! Staff were really helpful and pleasant to talk to. Would have liked to eaten or had a drink at hotel, but prices were out of our range, shame as looked good. Hired bikes from hotel for a day, a real must! Be aware of the city tax added to bill and the bond of 300 Euros for room taken from card on check in! Would highly recommend this hotel and definitely return. Enjoy!

ONE OF THE BEST HOTELS IN AMSTERDAM FOR A GREAT PRICE!

Would recommend Wed, Jun 24, 2015
Truly a five star. Amazingly large and luxury rooms - for an European city - with all possible amenities, including Michelin Star hotels, spa, and even bicycles for rent. Very well located, at walking distance from the local street market (a must-see), the Heineken Experience and the museums area.

A little expensive

Would not recommend Mon, Oct 13, 2014
We had a great time as we stayed 3days as it was my birthday and our honeymoon. A bit expensive in the restraunt which we thought it is our honeymoon. Mini bar ,come on 5 euro for small water! We left our own bottle of wine at the hotel mini bar which we called and they ask us for our bank details for them to send it,come on get real after we spent 1000 euro at the hotel. Just shows you how the rich get richer!

Amazing beds

Would recommend Tue, Aug 27, 2013
THE HIGHTLIGHTS FOR US: This is a fabulous hotel. It's in a quiet area, away from the centre of town (where you may get woken up by drunken revellers, for example#, yet just a short tram ride away - or even a walk if you were prepared to walk for about 30-40 mins. The museum district is very close - just a couple of tram stops, but we walked. The staff were very good - extremely polite and helpful. The room was lovely with a bathroom encased in glass walls, providing the illusion of even more space than was already generously allocated. We were on the 15th floor, so we got great views too. The beds were AMAZING #there was even a pillow menu - but we didn't use it as the ones we had were fine#. Our shower leaked onto the bathroom floor - but we thought it was just us being sloppy until we decided it really was a leak on the last day. I'm sure they'd have changed our rooms had we asked them to. We were able to buy tram tickets and tickets for the museums at the hotel, which was a big plus as it meant we didn't have to queue #we hadn't been organised to buy our tickets online in advance, which would have been the best option had we been a little more organised, but it was a last minute holdiday#. THE BAD NEWS FOR US: The worst aspect of all was that the breakfast was not included in the price of the hotel. We found this VERY UPSETTING as we didn't feel it was made clear at the time of booking. Even worse was that breakfast would have cost us £30 per person, had we availed ourselves of it!!!! The hotel has a number of restaurants, including one on the top floor of the building with amazing views. Meals are well over £100 per person minimum & without drinks. There are plenty of places to eat #snacks, coffee shops and restaurants) within walking distance. However, we would have preferred to have eaten our breakfast at the hotel and we were very surprised that a hotel of this calibre would risk upsetting its guests by letting hotel rooms without breakfast included. So, in conclusion, we've given full marks for everything except value, because of the issue with the breakfast and location, because some people might prefer to be closer in to the 'action' in the centre. We'd have no hesitation in recommending this hotel - but if you want to eat breakfast at the hotel, double check it's included in the price when you book.

Attractions

Book a "Jewish Amsterdam Tour" with Naomi Koopmans. Put a whole day aside to visit the RijksMuseum - don't try and do it the same day as the Van Gogh Museum just because they're next door to each other. The Rijks Museum is vast and full of amazing stuff that could take you way more than a day to see. Get breakfast at Omelegg #turn right out of the hotel and carry on walking to the next tram stop#.

Good but not excellent

Would recommend Wed, Jul 17, 2013
Would be better described as a four star hotel (if so I would have rated this more highly). Only faults were: 1. shower in bathroom very annoying to use - shower head kept twisting. 2. Vacuum system is linked to central motor and was mega loud. Every morning we were woken by loud noises above our room and outside our room door. 3. Room generally far too small for a five star hotel unless requesting a corner room. 4. Do not request a junior suite as it is the same as the basic room but with two small chairs instead of one. 5. Location was a bit far from city centre and required tram access. Otherwise a good experience.

Close to center of town, from the moment you arrive you can feel the extra attention to details from all staff, this hotel while over 40 years old has been going through a very comprehensive renovation providing today the best services in the industry.
