The NH Tropen is located next to the Royal Tropical Insitute, the Oosterpark and the Artis zoo and you can reach the city centre very easily by tram. It has 80 cosy rooms, a bar brasserie which offers delicious international cuisine and a conference centre with 14 meeting rooms which can accomodate any event. The hotel has its own parking (at an additional charge). Transport stops are located right in front of the hotel, which can take you easily into the historic centre of Amsterdam, the RAI Convention centre and to Schiphol Airport.

The hotel has a modern Conference Centre which comprises 14 meeting rooms. The meeting rooms are located in a quiet area of the hotel and in the beautiful building of the Royal Tropical Institute. It is the ideal place for several events like trainings, conferences and meetings. Events up to 600 persons can be organized in the Royal Tropical Institute located next door. The spacious conference rooms, with their quiet locations and natural lighting, are perfectly equipped for training sessions, conferences and business meetings for up to 600 people. The impressive Marmer Hall shows the rich colonial history and included pillars made of several types of marble. Private diners in this hall can be organized up to 450 persons. The hotel offers our clients wireless internet, pojectors, microphone, loudspeakers, TV, Video and DVD. Other electrical equipment needs to be requested in advance.

Good time.

A mixed bag. Plus: Very comfortable bed. Room large by Amsterdam standards. Location away from city center,but easy to get to the center by tram or bus, takes maybe 10 minutes to get to all the action. Great reception staff. Minus: Air conditioning not available-room was very hot due to unusually warm weather that week. Hotel is adjacent to a public park-from 1am-3:30am one evening there was a huge and extremely loud dance party going on there. It kept me awake even though I was seven stories up! Therefore ask for a room facing the street-NEVER the park side.

Very nice hotel

This is a very nice hotel. It's location is a little away from the center of town but the tram stops right in front. For 7 Euro you can can a 24 hour pass. From central station get on the number 9 that says Deman and get off at the stop after Alexanderplain. This drops you right in front of the hotel. To get to town jump on the number 9 in front of the hotel that says 'central station'. I got off at 'The Dam' which has the castle and cathedral and close to everything. 10 minute ride. I liked that it was in a quiet location as my colleague stayed 'downtown', overpaid, and said it was very loud...... The people there were very nice and the hotel and room were very clean. I would definitely stay there again

Mainly for business travelers

More geared to business travelers. In a more ethnic neighborhood and not near any nice restaurants.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Stay closer to Centrum for good restaurants and shopping. Also hotel charged me on top of Obitz charges and still trying to straighten it out.

This was a very clean hotel and

This was a very clean hotel and was about a ten minute tram journey to the centre of Amsterdam. Trams stop frequently outside the hotel and there is park directly beside the tropen which is great for families. It is also very close to the artis zoo and the nh tropen musem. We stayed in a queen superior room which was of good size. The only negative points I would have to say is that the hotel prices for breakfast and drinks was very expensive and the service from staff was very slow but friendly. We would stay again and cant wait to visit amsterdam again soon

Good for one night but no more

Not centrally located to tourist areas. The walls were very thin and if you are planning to be there over the weekend the restaurant is not open.

Pas de climatisation dans les

Pas de climatisation dans les chambres ! Une chaleur étouffante (+ 30°) alors que la température extérieure ne dépassait pas 24° ! Bref, une vraie fournaise. Les petits déjeuners ne sont pas compris dans le prix ni le parking qui est facturé 20 euros par jour, ce qui est franchement excessif. Une adresse à éviter.
