Weekend in Amsterdam
Very positive overall. Nice comfortable room. Best location in Amsterdam for a tourist. Only negatives. (1) The front desk sent us to elevator 5 to go up to our room, but elevator 5 had a hard to see sign on it noting it was out of order. (elevator 5 is a bit old and small. Not nearly as nice as the rest of the hotel). (2) breakfast is Expensive. €58 for two. Be prepared

Could have been better...
First of all, as other travellers have mentioned, they are very strict about not letting you into your room on your day of arrival until 3:00 p.m. I slept on the hotel lobby sofa which I'm sure didn't please them. Even though the hotel is histortic, the room that we got put in was ultra-modern, maybe too much so. One night there was a party in the conference area below our room and the music actually was so loud and booming that it shook our room. When calling the front desk about it, they said that it was a party and the music would end at midnight -- no apologies. And since they were full, they couldn't move us -- right! The concierge on the most part were not friendly or helpful. Good location though.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Try the Turkish restaurants -- they're great and reasonable. Cafe Luxemburg has a nice lunch and atmosphere -- very Dutch. The Dutch pea soup that I had at a few places was very tasty. Be careful, though, not as many places as you think take credit cards.

Great Location
I have stayed at this hotel before and have always had a great experience. This trip I was celebrating a brithday with a friend and the hotel gave us a complimentary upgrade to a room with a balcony which was great. The room was large, clean and the hotel is in a great location, walking distance to anything you want to do in Amsterdam.

Loved It
We got there at 8:00am even though check in time is not til 3:00pm we checked right into our room. Check in was timely, mentioned I was there for my birthday and she gave me a free breakfast for two. Now their breakfast is exspensive so that was worth a lot,and the breakfast was wonderful. We upgraded to the Amsterdam Wing with a balcony, now I don't know about the other rooms but we loved ours. We loved that we didn't have to go through the hotel lobby when we came and left. Also brought us a box of chocolates and bottle of water. We stayed there a week and loved it. Yes a couple of small things could have been better but we will stay there again.
