Unbeatable location for the price
I have stayed at the N.H.Doelen twice and I like its location. It is close to mass transit ,museums, and great places to eat. I was there on business and it is close to where I needed to be to access the businesses I was there to visit.

Great choice!
My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon. We were very pleased with our choice. The hotel is ideally situated near main attractions and transportation. The building has so much original character. The room was a little small but comfortable. The staff were so friendly and helpful! We were able to book a canal cruise through them and got door-to-door pick up on the Amstel canal. They also gave us free internet passes to use on site. We would definitely stay here again!

Good value and great location
My daughter and I enjoyed this historic hotel located on a canal in a well situated area in Amsterdam. We were welcomed by the staff and enjoyed an easy check in. Our room was on the top floor with a canal view and although it was a little tired and worn, it was quite large compared to most of the European hotels that I have stayed in. We could walk to all of the major museums and the canal tour boats are located across the street. There is an outside, waterfront cafe at the resteraunt next door where we could enjoy a glass of wine and a bowl of soup while sitting in the sun. The only complaint that I would have is that to get some ventilation (it was unseasonly warm) we had to leave the windows open at night and it was very noisy when the bars closed at 4 AM.

Great location for the price
The hotel was overbooked when I arrived and they asked me if I was traveling alone and I said yes but I perfer to book a double room because I like a king size bed. The manager ask if I would mind staying in a single room the first night and they would give me a suite the next night and I said yes. They also gave me free breakfast for two. I was very pleased with the service and love the location of the hotel.

Never again
The lobby area is very nice, and very misleading. The room itself, with two twin beds, was barely large enough to get around both sides of the bed. Paint was flaking off of the walls, and the room. The wake-up call system, programmed through the TV, did not work. The manager at the front desk agreed to provide an old-fashioned call, but that did not happen either.(luckily we remembered to use a cell phone alarm) Combined with no air-conditioning on an unseasonably warm August day and the cost this hotel experience was one of worst we have ever had in all of our years of travel.
