Quality Service-Affordable Price
This was my first visit to Amsterdam and we arrived by train at the Central Station. The hotel accommodated our early arrival. Our room was not ready, but they found another room, that was slightly upgraded (without charge) and allowed us to check-in early. The location is about 3-4 blocks from the Central Station but very close to the tram stop(s). We requested a canal side view and they happily complied. The staff graciously offered suggestions for dining and provided directions readily. They also allowed us to store our luggage after check-out and were friendly even when busy with other guests. Our room was clean with wood floors and was generously sized. The bathroom had large counter space and very nice shower (no tub). It was located near many popular bars and restaurants and just blocks from the city centre.

In the central city!
This was a very nice hotel; pretty basic amenities but very helpful front desk staff, clean and spacious bath and bedroom. Located just a few blocks from the Anne Frank House, Rembrandt's home, lots of good restaurants in varying price ranges. The hotel has a continental breakfast for 15 Euros per person, and it was good. It may seem expensive, but it saves having to walk around to find breakfast in another restaurant, which will probably be just as expensive, unless you just want coffee and a pastry. (This has eggs, hot and cold meats, fruit, pastries, cheese, breads and coffee and tea, juice) We happened to be there on April 30, the Queen's birthday--a national holiday. Lots of people come to Amsterdam for this, and it's a crowded, all-day party--we were right in the thick of it at this hotel, but since our room was located in the inner part of the building (it's like an "O" shape), the noise level was fine that evening!

Great location!
This hotel was the perfect place to stay. We walked everywhere and never once took a taxi or tram. The room was clean and the front desk was very helpful. While the staff was very friendly, if you stay here make sure to look around for signage on specific country information. We neglected to see the sign about the time change and almost didnt wake up in time the next morning for our flight. Overall great value and I would stay there again.

This was our first visit to Amsterdam
This was our first visit to Amsterdam and took a long time to pick our hotel. After looking at various reviews we chose the NH City Centre Hotel even though it was a bit more expensive. We were not disappointed and felt we got good value for money bearing in mind we were in the centre of a capital city. The room was very clean and the facilities were excellent. The service of the reception staff was friendly and efficient as was the chambermaids who cleaned the rooms. The breakfast was as good as you would get anywhere with a mixture of 'continental' and 'English'. We would definitely return to this hotel or recommend it to anyone who is not travelling on a budget.

Great Location
We were there for one night only. The room was clean, the beds were fine and it was in a great location. As Americans, we like our room cold and in Europe, they do not value air conditioning the way we do. We were right in the middle of the city with tons to do within walking distance. Nice restaurants and shopping. Close to Central Station, trams and water taxis. We would stay there again and would recommend to friends.

Great location
The NH City Centre was easy find, right on Spuistraast, and our room had a fantastic view of the Singel Canal through an entire wall of windows! If you're staying here, make sure you go to the correct NH in the city, on Spuistraat, as there is another NH hotel with a similiar name. The room was very clean, the bathroom large by European standards, and check-in and check-out was easy. To get the free wifi in the lobby, ask for the code at the front desk. This location was within easy walking distance of Centraal Station, the museums, and all the major squares in the city, plus there's an excellent bakery and several cafes near the hotel. In addition, the Spui tram stop is just one block from the hotel. We will definitely stay here on our next visit. We love Amsterdam and never fail to have a great time!

Sightseeing tip:
Long walk from hotel
There are many firms offering canal cruises, and many large, impersonal cruises originate from just outside of Centraal Station area and from across the street from the Rijksmuseum and the Heineken Brewery. Not all commercial cruises are alike, and many can be uncomfortable due to too many chairs close together and sitting on plastic chairs. Also, most large commercial cruise boats are completely glassed-in except for about 5 spots outside, so photography can be challenging. There are other options for more-intimate cruises offered by individuals with private boats, often with food, drink, and a more-customized experience. Carefully look at the boats and the operator before deciding whether it's the one for you.
