Great location clean hotel

Stayed here for a long weekend in August, weather was really warm. This hotel is a central location to enable you to explore Amsterdam. The hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff were pleasant enough. I would stay here again.

happy holiday

Would recommend Tue, Jan 20, 2015
Had a lovely stay at N H Carlton. many thanks to Dana who arranged exactly what I asked for. Also must mention the lovely Laura who served at all times with a beaming smile both on reception and with room service. Lovely room only con cleaners should work a bit harder. They forgot to hoover carpet all our 7 day stay also did not clean bathroom floor or clean anywhere. But otherwise very happy.

Great location and friendly staff

Would recommend Tue, Dec 2, 2014
The hotel room was a very good size, the beds were large and comfortable. Shower had a very good pressure and there was hot water at all times. Daily cleaning and new towels provided. The staff were very friendly and accommodating with our request. We were a group of friends staying in Amsterdam for the weekend and sometimes hotels do not like that. I am happy this wasn't the case at NH Carlton. The only negative I think of is that in our room the carpet was stained. This wasn't to say it was dirty but it does look like it needs to be changed. The location was excellent. Takes less than 10 minutes to reach the hotel from Amsterdam Central. There are lots of shops, stores, restaurants etc just outside and everything is close by. We never tried the restaurant or breakfast but I did like the fact you could have breakfast ordered to your room. Overall would highly recommend this hotel to friends and I will probably stay here again on my next visit.

Great location

Would recommend Tue, Apr 29, 2014
Really had nice stay here. A great location - only about 10 mins by tram to Dam sq. / railway stn. A walk from reasonable restaurants and shopping, not to mention next door to the flower market. Recommend 'la Place' for cheap but wholesome breakfasts and lunches but you are spoilt for choice in the local area. See Rembrandt square. The room was nice and airy and the windows opened too. Lovely beds with feather mattress topper - so comfy! The staff were all really friendly and polite. Only thing to criticise was the occasionally smelly plug hole of the shower. It did whiff but not for too long and couldn't be bothered to complain. Overall would recommend and would definitely stay there again.

Money saver

Definitely try the trams. 4,16,24 & 25 the stop is Munt Plein (square) and is a two minute walk to the hotel (go around the corner then cross the road to go under the tower) and across the bridge. You can buy the 1 hour ticket from the driver - cash €2.80 and passes avail. for more frequent use.

Spontaneous weekend in Amsterdam in March

Would recommend Wed, Apr 2, 2014
A well-located hotel with spacious rooms - ours was on the corner of the 6th floor with a balcony with great views of the city. Room has a mini-bar and sweets but best to avoid these as they are very expensive (e.g., 3 euros for a well-known chocolate bar). Big downside was how cold the room was - heating appeared not to work whatever we tried and no instructions provided on how to use it. When we queried this with reception they had no idea how it worked and were fobbed off with 'just wait an hour for it to come up to temperature'. Great shame.

Nice hotel, but noisy.

Would recommend Fri, Jan 31, 2014
Centrally located hotel, ideal for all the popular sightseeing sites, and only about 20 minutes walk from Central Station. Room and staff were fine, but our room was situated at the back of the hotel overlooking the street running behind the Flower Market. It seems that this is "Gay Lane" (as told to us by a local restaurant owner) and houses bars and nightclubs that operate until 5 a.m. at weekends and 4 a.m. most weekdays. The noise in our room (303) was terrible, and the fact that the road almost forms a tunnel with the high buildings either side didn't seem to help. If I was to stay again, I would definitely request a room looking out over the main street or the Flower Market. We didn't take breakfast in the hotel as it is very over-priced in my opinion. You can get a very good breakfast nearby for a fraction of the cost.
