Weekends getaway

Would recommend Thu, Dec 10, 2015
Good hotel in general. Nice design, and very clean and nice room, even though they are small. We were not impressed with the staff in the hotel. They were friendly, but not very knowledgeable about the area, and did not practice the kind of service I would expect from a hotel this level. One of the days we didn't have any towels in the room when getting back from a full day walking around in town. We alled the reception and told them, and they apologized and said they would fix it. 45 min later, and still no towels I called down again, and again she said she would fix it, but the cleaner was busy. We never got towels, and had to leave for our evening out at a restaurant without showers.

Amazing long weekend trip!

Would recommend Sat, Nov 14, 2015
We stayed here in april for a long weekend away for a 21st birthday. The hotel was stunning, warm and welcoming and excellent value for money. The staff were all really helpful and would go out of their way to help you. The location is perfect close to the train station and other main attractions such as bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, canal boat ride etc...

Great boutique hotel

Would recommend Mon, Sep 7, 2015
Although I got lost getting to this hotel from the Centraal Station, it is very easy to find (once I did find it lol) !!! Just a five minute walk from the Central Station. Centrally located to all the city has to offer. About a 7 minute walk to Anne Frank Huis. The women at the check-in counter were very helpful in pointing out all the sights and how I would go about getting there. The tram just outside of hotel will take you to Rijksmuseum (IAMsterdam sign), Van Gogh Museum, and shopping. Our rate included breakfast every morning. The Italian cook was pleasant every morning and his eggs were delicious! Great way to start your day. The hotel itself is small and quaint. The rooms are cozy and clean. The room itself had a lot of quirky details. Make sure you don't overlook the hidden fridge that is in your desk! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Amsterdam.

Great Old City Location

Would recommend Wed, Feb 11, 2015
If you want a romantic stay, I suggest getting a top floor room with the skylight window that pivots out. This hotel is right next to a trolley stop, so you can get connected to most of the city, right outside the door. There are restaurants and bodegas located in the surrounding storefronts. Very close to the Royal Palace and Nieuw Kerk.

Great hotel in a central location

Would recommend Thu, Sep 4, 2014
I had a long layover in Amsterdam and spent the night here. The location is great - a short tram ride from the Centraal station or the Museum district (where the airport bus dropped me off). If you don't have too much baggage it's easy to get to on public transport. Small room (expected) but nicely decorated and very comfortable. The hotel staff were very helpful and recommended a quant traditional restaurant to get mussels and fries for dinner, as well as organizing tickets for the Van Gogh museum. Breakfast in the hotel was decent (I chose the cheaper continental breakfast but they have a full buffet if you prefer). The hotel bar is a bit old-fashioned and stuffy, and was quite dead when I was there, so for a drink I recommend heading out to a pub/bar nearby instead. Compared to a previous night in a hotel closer to the Centraal station, this was much better and even cheaper. I'd happily stay again!

Dining

For traditional Dutch food, the Restaurant het Zwaantjie is a nice option. It's tiny, so try to get a reservation before you go. The décor and friendly waitress were what really made this stand out. Mussels were decent but a little bland. For a snack, beer and people watching, I'd recommend De Brabantse Aap. They have a great beer selection (some of their own house beers too), and decent food. Service can be slow or hard to flag down - make sure they know you're there and don't be shy to grab them if you've been waiting a while!

MBI in Amsterdam

Would not recommend Fri, Jul 11, 2014
Great location, excellent staff but rooms are small and a bit shop worn. The rooms are definitely in need of some upgrading to warrant the advertised quality level of the hotel (presumed to be a 5 star property). I would classify the property as a 3 star at best. Dining is problematic in that the food choices are small and lean toward "a bite to eat if say the weather was inclement and one did not wish to go out" to eat.

great experience with a minor let down

Would recommend Mon, Jul 7, 2014
Great location at a great price. Hot water was non existent on the last day of pur trip and housekeeping accused me if wasting their time because I woke up at noon every day (hey its Amsterdam!!!). Otherwise staff was great and attentive. Very polite. The beds and pillows were fantastic. I could not think of any more I could've wanted in my stay at The Convent.

Great Location and Friendly Staff

Would recommend Mon, Jun 2, 2014
Perfect location for exploring the city and traveling by train or bus to other areas outside of Amsterdam. Very helpful and friendly staff. Room was a little small when compared to USA hotel rooms, but about average when compared with European hotels. Location was good for easy walking to restaurants, museums, and site-seeing locations.
