Nice room, better than in Amsterdam
Cuauhtemoc Oct 1, 2009
Been there two times. Big room, plasma TV, big bathroom, two kingsize beds, balcony. The room was very far from the lobby, I ... had to take two elevators and walk a lot. You can't hear the noise from the nearby airport (10 minutes away), but some of the people in the hotel was making a lot of noise, and the hotel security wasn't very helpful (they took a lot to came, the guest were still making noise in the hallway and in their room). You have to carry your own luggage into the shuttle bus to/from the airport, the driver won't help you. The rooms in Amsterdam can be smaller and more expensive. This hotel it's only 20 minutes from Amsterdam, cheaper, and close to the airport. I would recommend it if you're only staying in Amsterdam for a couple of days.

Nice hotel, great staff, weird lay out
travel guy Sep 7, 2009
The hotel was very nice, and Orbitz really saved money. The distance was about 40-45 minutes into Amsterdam center. That was ... a little further than I expected. The free parking was good, it is 40 to 55 euro a day with hotels in the city. That is probably lost anyhow, if you drive into the city. Parking at the Central Station public parking will cost a flat rate of about 54 euro a day. Smaller Public parking lots are preferred, because they were about 24 a day. Overall it was a great hotel with odd layout. The rooms access was the only odd deal. I had a 500 series room, which caused you to elevator to the top then walk across, then walk down several flights of stairs. No direct way. The room was clean and well done. The cost of hotels in the city is so extreme, that I would quickly use this hotel again. The food court right across the parking lot was very useful too. The KFC and BBQ were what I hit(great ribs, at the BBQ place!). There were other choices too, it is a large building that bridges over the freeway. Nothing else is out here, so this really is just a spot on the highway next to a truck stop. I thought Amsterdam was amazing, and this hotel added a nice touch.

Outstang breakfast and gourmet dining in Hotel but accross the street on "The bridge" are a variety of restaurants such as KFC, Burger King and Asian/ Japanese restaurants very moderately priced. If you plan to Air or train travel to other European or domestic destinations and you arrive at hotel by car you may park your car for free up to one month. Each room has 50" flat screen TV. Four stars? please...
Ohutraveler Aug 26, 2009
It's a hotel that could be compared with, say, your basic Best Western. It's not at the airport, so you will either have to ... take the shuttle (runs every 40 minutes and not after midnight or before 6 AM - hello, people with early flights!) or a cab. Beds are rather basic, bathroom facilities clearly designed by someone who doesn't like tall people and the towels are see-through (I had to ask for a new set, because the original had some suspicious stains on them), wi-fi is pay-as-you-go (not cheap either). In general - what would be a decent deal for a real four star hotel felt like a rip-off here.

TRAVEL GURU Aug 24, 2009
Outstanding and attentive service; went for appointments down town, easy, free, perfectly scheduled busservice to AP, ... inexpensive train/tram service to various parts of the city. Nothing missing, better than other trips. Hotel would not accept offer "specials" as offered by Orbitz. (20% discount after 4 nights stay and free breakfast). These perks would be available if booked directly and not via Orbitz (same price).

Hotel Schiphol A4 4 Night Stay
Wally Jul 23, 2009
The staff was great always very friendly & helpful. The managers were the ones that show you around & even help escort you ... to the room. The breakfast was great but pricy $15 Euros= $21 dollars per person. The rooms were large & the TV was at least a 42" flat screen. It was great coming back & enjoying it. The location is a bit inconvenient because it's by the airport. They do have a free shuttle to the airport & then you can catch the train to town. We rented a car & would not recommend that because parking is expensive in Amsterdam. There is a huge complex across the street that offers a variety of restaurants to eat from KFC, Burger King, & several nice places other than fast food.

A great place to stay
matthew Jul 12, 2009
This is a great place to enjoy Amsterdam from a distance, 20 km or so away from City Center but well connected via the free ... shuttle to the airport. My balcony overlooked a garden with a horse pasture in the background and lots of rabbits running around. (Ask for a room in the back!) The hotel has really clean and spacious rooms, a competent and friendly staff and a beautiful bar that leads to a private garden in the back. Super value!

City convinient escape
Chocolope Jul 7, 2009
It is quite big hotel with nice bar and a lot of area to move around. Each room with balcony, which is a key if you are a ... smoker. Our usual day began with swimming pool, than we had breakfast at hotel restaurant and than we left for the city with a bus that travels every 40 minutes from and to the airport, which is fantastic because the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Our stay would be more enjoyable if the hotel had movies to purchase, or if a person would be at least plausible to connect its own dvd/laptop to the 46inch bedroom screens. The card's for movies - extra channels - are sold at the reception and are mostly for adults to enjoy. We have had numerous trips to Netherlands before and this hotel surprised us positively especially with balconies and pool.

There is a hotel bus traveling to and from airport every 40 minutes, which is a key for traveling since from the airport one can get a round trip train for 7 Euro's that travels 20 minutes. In real time the hotel is about 30-40 minutes away from the city centre and only 3 Euro's cost of travel.

I have stayed at this hotel before and really enjoyed the spacious rooms and great showers. I missed having a hotwater pot ... and complimentary tea and coffee for first thing in the morning. I was also disappointed that the continental breakfast wasn't included with the room as before. We choose not to add the breakfast as it was 15 euros per person which is too much.

The Hotel Schiphol A4 was a complete surprise to me! What a wonderful surprise to enter such a beautiful lobby. The desk ... staff was extremely friendly too. Our 2 Quad rooms were very spacious, thank goodness, as we had three grown children and our 2 teenagers traveling with us. Hotel shuttle service runs every 40 minutes to Schiphol Airport where you can catch a train every 10 minutes into Amsterdam! We did not move our car once it was parked.
