Great Location

I was a little worried about this hotel after reading some reviews about small rooms and tight stairs. We did not find this to be the case. There may be stairs, but there are two elevators in the lobby. Although we had a first floor room with no view, we also had a generous King bed and a large room by European standards. There was a mini-bar, but nothing was free. There wasn't even a coffee pot in the room. We had croissants and coffee in the lobby, but it was expensive. We were encouraged to try around the corner, but we were put off by the mounds of trash on the curb. (It must have been garbage day.) We did receive wonderful recommendations for lunch and dinner from the concierge. The hotel has its own canal boat, an antique which is pristinely kept. We enjoyed the cruise. Drinks are available, but for a price. The staff was helpful about making calls and confirming reservations. There was no charge for that. I say this because for the price of the hotel, they should offer at least something. Is a croissant and coffee in the morning asking too much?

Cozy retreat in the middle of Amsterdam

Wonderful hotel. Staff were warm& helpful. Room clean& cozy. Great location. A few things needed updating which I think they are in the process of doing with ongoing renovations. Didn't eat there so can't comment on that. Appreciated the Expresso machine they brought to our room.

very nice, but overpriced

The location is good and the staff was friendly and helpful. There are several lovely outdoor spaces and nice places for coffee or a drink. The room was small and there weren't many places to put clothes or other things. Also for the price a buffet breakfast or afternoon tea should be included.

Hotel Pulitzer

The Hotel Pulitzer is on a beautiful canal and in the perfect location to walk all of Amsterdam, without the hustle bustle of staying in the middle of the center. The adjacent neighborhoods of the Nine Streets and the Jordaan give you lots of choices for good but reasonably prices dining. Although the hotel is listed as a 5 star, I think most Americans would consider it more of a 4 star because our standards are different. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We've stayed there several times and never had a major complaint even when we book a less expensive room through a travel web site.

Perfect 3 day break

My wife and I arrived on Friday afternoon and were very pleased with the hotel, the staff and their restaurant. They also recommended two other restaurants which were exceptional, an Italian and an Indonesian.

Great hotel

Very comfortable, upscale hotel - fantastic location - right near the Jordaan district which has a great vibe and an excellent array of restaurants. Very helpful concierge staff. Would highly recommend. One note - the price for WiFi is unreasonable - but they did have free internet terminals in the lobby and business center for guest use.

Very good luxury hotel

Excellent room, large by European standards. The room is above the lobby area, I can't speak about rooms in the converted houses. I especially like having a choice between air conditioning and an open window. The courtyard let in lot's of sun, and kept out most noise. My main gripes: no in-room coffee/tea, and far overpriced wifi/internet access. I didn't try it, so I can't comment on speed or quality. The downstairs internet terminal is good, and free. However it is unavailable when the business center is used to store luggage during a rush. I don't often stay in luxury hotels, my preference being a good B&B or small hotel. However, the service here was just about worth the price. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful.
