Great hotel
Very comfortable, upscale hotel - fantastic location - right near the Jordaan district which has a great vibe and an excellent array of restaurants. Very helpful concierge staff. Would highly recommend. One note - the price for WiFi is unreasonable - but they did have free internet terminals in the lobby and business center for guest use.

Greeted and serviced by the friendly and knowledgable staff. Historical, artistic and beautiful views from every part of the hotel. Between 2 canals, Best location for a tourist, every big attraction is walkable from here. Concierge had the best touristy and unique suggestion for us! We stayed 10 unbelievably amazing days and can't wait to go back!

Get a 24 hour tram pass! Hop on and off all over the city for 7 euro and save the walking for in the museums. But don't miss out on strolls down the canals

Very good luxury hotel
Excellent room, large by European standards. The room is above the lobby area, I can't speak about rooms in the converted houses. I especially like having a choice between air conditioning and an open window. The courtyard let in lot's of sun, and kept out most noise. My main gripes: no in-room coffee/tea, and far overpriced wifi/internet access. I didn't try it, so I can't comment on speed or quality. The downstairs internet terminal is good, and free. However it is unavailable when the business center is used to store luggage during a rush. I don't often stay in luxury hotels, my preference being a good B&B or small hotel. However, the service here was just about worth the price. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful.

Wonderful experience!
Wanted a quick getaway with my teenage daughter over spring break and did not have lots of time to plan. This hotel had the perfect location, tucked away seemlessly in a residential neightborhood, near GREAT restaurants and small, funky store shopping. Staff could not have been more friendly or helpful -- helped me find an Easter surprise for my daughter. Recommended great restaurants and transportation savings. Got us great Cirque seats.

Far from 5 star
Positives: Relatively good location on the picturesque canal and close to the boutiques and cafes of the 9 streets Excellent check in and concierge service (even found a great dinner reservation on NYE despite most restauarants being closed or completely booked out!) Negatives: Room far from 5 star (general finishes, decor and condition) No carpet in rooms Cleanliness not perfect Basic amenities missing from room (eg shower cap, vanity sets etc) Service appaling everywhere other than front desk and concierge Matters which ruined our stay: 30 min wait to get into breakfast Whilst at breakfast (and despite it being now almost noon and restaurant half empty) had to request egg order 3 times and only half of it finally came out some 40 mins later! Had to ask for basic amenities 3 times. When they finally arrived 30 mins later wrong items delivered. Consequently late for a fixed NYE dinner setting which meant restaurant was inconvenienced and we rushed meal to get to fireworks before midnight Due to the above would not stay there again as we did not value equivalent to the five star cost paid.

In love with Amsterdam
Fabulous!!!
The hotel is conveniently located and set on the romantic canals. The staff is extremely accommodating. The rooms are spacious, clean, and nicely decorated. Amsterdam is magical! It was as if we'd stepped into a Van Gogh. My boyfriend and I have both traveled extensively to other cities (Rome, Paris, Venice, Florence, Geneva, NY, Chicago, LA, New Orleans) and hundreds of towns and villages in between, but concur, Amsterdam is our new favorite! The free spirited bohemian style is exactly what we had hoped it would be. This city offers everything for anyone who is an "artist at heart", music, galleries, beauty, fun, food....it's all here!
