Not the best
The hotel staff was not accommodating whatsoever . i fully regret booking this hotel for our stay at Amsterdam. If you're traveling with a family and you want to be separated from the nightlife and all that the city has to offer, then stay here. If however, you're like me, in your 20's and want to experience all of Amsterdam, definitely stay elsewhere! You need to take a tram to downtown (where everything is located) and that takes about 45 minutes and costs you anywhere up-to 8 euro daily! The hotel itself is not that nice inside, and room service comes only when they want to. Don't bother trying to eat at the hotel because you'll spend double than what you would at a restaurant. Oh and forget about staying out late because the tram stops running after around 11pm and you have to locate a night bus to take you back to this hotel (either that or a cab that can run up-to 35 euro!). Yes this hotel is cheap, but I would have rather stayed at a hostel.

Poor Hotel
Rooms very bad with exposed plumbing in the shower, no airconditioning, bad TV. Charged for early check in 30 Euro even though rooms were available. Very rude registration staff. This is just a horrible hotel for any tourist.

Hotel of LAST Resort
I had booked this very expensive hotel room ($236 per night) as a surprise for my boyfriend. And boy were we surprised when we lnded up there. The hotel is far away from the city centre. (15 tram stops)The receptionist was not very friendly to start with.We were asked to pay a further 20 Euro per night as 'taxes', something that no other hotel in our trip required.Breakfast was not included in the room cost, (it is usually included in hotels in the area) Besides breakfast was overpriced at 14.50 per person per day.Internet was not included and when we payed for it, it was slow and unrelieable. The room, far from being the luxurious suite I hd imagined, was a standard, smallish twin bed affair. The two beds, when joined together left a crack between them so wide that it was near impossible to do anything else but sleep in them. The toilet was badly designed and in poor maintenance. The shower head was broken and was tied in place by a plastic bag. Besides using the shower flooded the whole toilet. The towels were stained, worn and threadbare as were the carpets. The door frame was loose with plaster falling off around the edges everytime the door was shut. The room looked out onto a yard with a rusty shipping container. The yard itself was paved but overrun by weeds. There was no ice machine and the bar staff was extremely rude when we asked for ice.In short I would advise travelers not to pay anything more than 50 Euros a night for this and any other HEM Hotel.[...]

There is no reason to stay here.
At $3-500 a night this is a HORRIBLE IDEA. When we checked in they offered us a worn out room with a broken toilet filled with urine and feces. After we complained they offered us a slightly better room filled with dead bugs covering the walls and curtains. This hotel is far from everything you want to see (15 minute tram ride) and for the price FAR BELOW par. The staff is rude and yelled at my S/O for paying for water and leaving money on the pay counter instead of waiting for the counter person to come back from a smoke break. This hotel would be considered BAD at $100 a night and at the prices they want you would have to be out of your mind to stay here. My recommendation is go ANYWHERE else.

Cheap but...
The room is cheap but it includes NOTHING! You must pay separately for internet, breakfast, computer use, etc.. No fridge in the room. Appears to be clean but I found countless hairs from people other than myself all over the room... Icky...

The Extras Make this Hotel Expensive
I wonder if the other people who rated this hotel went to the same hotel I did. I will not stay here again. First, the location ... although right next to the A10 motorway, you have to know where you are going to get to it. We arrived at night and had a terrible time finding it. It is not close to anything tourists are likely to want to see in Amsterdam. Amsterdam discourages auto traffic in the city. If you know how to get around by streetcar, the location is not too bad. However most tourists don't know how to use Amsterdam public transportation. Breakfast is not included. It costs about US$ 20 extra per person per day. Chances are you will have a car if you stay here. They charge almost US$ 20 per day for parking. Wireless internet access in your room costs about $15 a day. If you have the misfortune of trying to order something from the menu at the bar in the evening (as we did the evening we arrived), the bartender will ignore you even though the place looks like a restaurant and there are menus on the table. When you finally try to order at the bar, the bartender will tell you brusquely that he can serve you drinks but you have to go a counter in the reception area to get something to eat. When you do, you will be told that prices have almost doubled from the menu because it is after 10:30 PM (which happened because you waited 20 minutes for non-existent service). Pay their exorbitant prices or go hungry. My wife had trouble sleeping because the room was too warm. They advertise that they have a new air conditioning system, but there was no sign of it in our room. The hotel will not exchanges dollars or pounds for euros. On the positive side, with the exception of the first night, the staff was always friendly and courteous. The room was quite large and clean.

Short walk from hotel
Use public transportation to get to Amsterdam. Go under the motorway bridge to the Albert Heijn market and buy a "strippenkaart". It costs E 7.30 at this writing and is a public transportation card with 15 strips. It takes 3 strips to get to Central Station in Amsterdam. (If you pay on the streetcar, you only get 8 strips for the same price ... it is almost twice as expensive). Walk 2 blocks north of the hotel to Heemstedestraat where you can catch the number 2 streetcar to Central Station. It only takes 15 or 20 minutes to get there. But pay attention when you get on so you know where to get off when you return.

Dirt cheap, but not the most convenient
This was an ok place to stay, very very cheap rate, but the inroom wifi internet access costs a lot! The price for breakfast also made me laugh, and the dirty iron near the elevator burnt my shirt. The hotel is situated a fair distance from the number 2 tram line, and it's way out from the center of town. It's close to Schiphol airport, but you have to walk to the tram stop, take the tram to the metro stop, take the metro one stop up to Leylaan railway station, then catch a train back to the airport... not exactly convenient for the airport either! If there is a special rate and you don't mind taking the tram for a 30 minute ride to get into town, then stay here. Otherwise you'll just find it frustrating...
