Definitely buy the city card at the airport that covers all forms of transport in city (except for airport ride) and includes access to museums. We did a 48 hour combo card - and got well over its worth in museums and tram rides.

Family trip - not really a family friendly hotel

Only good thing was location. Quiet but central. Hotel rooms small and dust present and dirty carpets. No room service for a room worth £170 per night Too expensive for no significant service Reception small and not comfortable. Reception team overall satisfactory - got phone charger when did not have working adaptor. We went as two families together and rooms given to us on different floors and reception manager claiming he did not know that we were together!! Airport transfer £14 per person! Overall I will only recommend if you get room at £120 or less and only want good location. Also very nice coffee shop just next to hotel. Definitely highlight of the trip was breakfast and coffee in the coffe shop.

Claustrophobia in Amsterdam

The location is on a tram line and is about 1 mile from the train station. We booked the hotel for one night before leaving on a river cruise. The room was very tight, even by European standards. You could actually rest your head on the wall in front of you while sitting on the commode.

Good enough

I've stayed in Amsterdam several times. This place is just a standard 2 star with small bathrooms and small rooms. A good value if you are traveling alone in the Dam and just need a room you wont be in very much.Beds are fine.100% non smoking.Use Tram 9.

great location - little pricey

On arrival we had to move our own baggage up to 2nd floor lobby, then into walk up closet when room was not ready. Misdirections were given to off-site restaurant. We thought that the on-site breakfast was complementary (web page advertisement not clear)and only found out that this was not true on check out that the breakfast was 30e/day. Clerk made a comment that we had such a "cheap" rate, we couldn't expect complimentary food! Room staff were wonderful and fixed some problems in the room for us that was not taken care of by desk clerk. We did not realize that the hotel encompasses 2 buildings in depth and our nice front room turned into a rear room about 100 feet from the elevator and a back yard view of the neighboring buildings and roofs.

Legit Hotel

Very nice hotel for being in sketchy Amsterdam. It is about a 10min walk from Centraal station and Red Light District and isnt too 'central' like the info says about it, but it is probably better to be just far enough away from areas like Red Light. We walked around most of the time but there are metro stops all around the hotel and are an easy way to get around the city. The rooms were nice and clean, just a bit small though for how much you pay for them but it wasnt a big deal. It is right next to the zoo so if you want something cool to do just stroll across the street and check it out. There are a few coffee shops close by and a nice little park next door to the hotel where you can enjoy your purchases. They have an info stand that has a bunch of different things to do around the city but we had to ask the front desk for a map which was by far the most useful. (tells you shopping areas, dining areas, museums as well as info about them and different attractions) The breakfast should have been included and cost about $15 euro which was pretty weak. I recommend take a 5 min walk and find a Dutch bakery which has delicious pastries and waffles for just a few euro. The only other complaint is that their toilets are 'shelf' toilets so when you go it doesnt go into water it just sits there which is pretty gross. Overall very happy with this hotel and would definitly go back.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

If your looking for something besides the Red Light district check out Rembrandt plaza which has a bunch of bars clubs and restaurants. There were a lot more local and cool people around there rather than the dirty sketchy side streets around RLD

Hotel was nice

The 15 euro breakfast is rediculous, there are a lot of shops around that serve breakfast.the staff was helpful, the beds were horrible, location was great, I think the good outweighs the bad, If you plan to watch television, all they have you will understand is BBC and animal planet.

Eden Lancaster Hotel

Good hotel for the price, the tram is easy to take and is nearby, or if you like to walk you can walk to some sites.Location is in a safe area, however, it is not right in the City Center. The rooms are very small, but neat and clean. Staff was very helpfull. Hotel is across the street from the Zoo and also next to a small park.

Overall Good Experience

Overall Good Experience. Bottom line: Best for mid-range travelers who want to stay in Amsterdam. The hotel itself is good overall but average in terms of building/room quality and furnishings. It is a good value and economical considering location and very easy access to transportation. The good aspects: - Very good location. Tram to downtown, ATM, and places to eat all within 50 M - 100 M of the hotel. Good, safe neighborhood - Bed/Linens were clean and comfortable - Staff friendly and professional, quick to solve problems/answer questions. Bad aspects: - I would say worst aspect was the heating system, room was not cold but not particularly warm. Was difficult to take a shower and not get cold when we went during winter. - Room/carpet/bathroom slightly a bit old and worn, but is still acceptable and clean.
