Acceptable stay for an acceptable price
The Falcon Plaza Center Hotel isn't anything spectacular: an older, smaller, building in an older, smaller, neighborhood of Amsterdam. It is, however, clean, and friendly, and the breakfast (if included, as it sometimes is) is a good deal and quite decent in and of itself. For the price, a great location, and a good deal.

There's a quite decent grocery store - "AD," I believe - just around the corner to the SE of the hotel.

unbeatable location for the price
The hotel location was great it was close to most of the shopping and site seeing area. I really enjoyed it. The only thing that needs some improving is the size of the room. We had a double room and we had two twin beds that were smaller then the average twin beds. Other then that everything was GREAT!!!!!!!

The only complaint that we had
The only complaint that we had was there was no fridge in the room, but that was no big deal really. Big tv, comfy beds and reasonably close to the major shopping and red light districts. Very friendly and helpfull staff too.

terrible
for 3 stars, this hotel only delivered running water and a foam matress. I promptly checked out and moved next door to the hotel ibis. which was much more 3 star than this one will ever be.

I was very surprised when we arrived at this hotel. Although it was not as close to the city center as I had hoped, it was in a nice area and very clean. We had added a person to our travels and it was very easy for him to add a room at the last minute. Our rooms were nice and clean. We didn't spend much time here other then to sleep...so with that in mind. It was great for us!

piece of foam rubber for a bed
The room was very clean but the bed was so uncomfortable. It was a foam rubber type mattress on very loose feeling springs so every time my husband even moved a muscle I was jiggled awake. Therefore we didn't get much rest so would not stay there again. Otherwise, it was a nice room.

Great hotel for a good pice
Great stay. 24 hour staff was friendly, knowledgeable of the area, and spoke flawless English, Dutch, German, and French. I ended up reserving a tipple, but the room we were given had four beds. The hotel is less than a foot from an active canal, and so the view out our window was always filled with swans and other water fowl swimming and playing. Despite the hotel being busy, we never heard any other patrons once we were in our room.[...] breakfast at the hotel, and it was superior to the normal European Continental Breakfast. A variety of juices, cereals, meats, and hot eggs were a good way to start the day.The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the central train station and all that the Dam Square has to offer. The closest "coffee shop" I saw is a 5 minute walk, and the "red light" district is about 7 minutes.

Unrelated to the hotel, if you happen to like Thai food, Amsterdam has some of the best you will find outside of Thailand.

Great Hotel for the Money!
Excellent hotel for a quick stay in Amsterdam to visit the local coffeeshops! Friendly staff answered all of our questions, gave us the extra coffee/tea we requested for the morning, and generally provided a pleasant experience. 24 hour check in and reception was critical because we were out late every night in the lovely city. Although not the most critical point the TV was excellent with lots of interesting programming to unwind with before calling it a night. This may not have been the best or most luxurious hotel but it certainly felt like a great deal and worth booking again.

Nightlife tip:
Short walk from hotel
Even during a short walk down a few streets you will run into loads of nightlife from the famous coffeeshops to night clubs to bars, casinos, and more! Spend as much time in the city as possible and see everything!

Great last minute choice!
This place was great! It was perfect for the price. Rooms were very clean and so were the fully functioning bathroom. Plenty of room. The beds were very comfortable with nice linens and comforters. Walking distance to "Red Light District" but VERY nice. Would definetely stay again. Sorry no report on the breakfast, stayed out too late to get up early!
