Better than expected!
We only had a few days in Amsterdam, so the staff and concierge were very helpful in mapping out our excursions as well as dining suggestions. We expected the hotel rooms to be small and the rooms were small. But they were updated and clean and comfortable. The hotel was a 3 minute walk from the tram, so it was convenient to everything. We would definitely recommend this as well as come back!

A good medium sized hotel in a
A good medium sized hotel in a very convenient central location. We had a quiet room with comfortable beds. We found the staff very obliging. Room prices were quite reasonable (but this was February). The buffet breakfast is of quite good quality but expensive (Euros 17.50) though most Amsterdam hotels charge quite a lot for this. You can save money by going out. There's a good brasserie next door which is convenient for having dinner if you don't want to go far. We would return to the Eden when in Amsterdam again.

Great central location
The hotel is located at the bend of the Amstel river, where the Oude Zijde, Nieuwe Zijde, and Canal Ring intersect. Due to its location, we were within walking distance of most of the major sites and museums. Walking along the canals is a great way to explore the city. The Rembrandtplein was directly behind us and was setup with the Winterland Christmas market during our stay (12/31-1/4). In fact, celebrating New Year's Eve in Amsterdam turned out to be a highlight of our 2-week trip to northwestern Europe. It was quite a celebration with fireworks being set off by everyone along the canals.

Excellent hotel, convenient for all the sights. Professional and friendly staff, keen to help. Only negative was that some rooms overlook a nightclub where people are enjoying themselves, some what noisily, until dawn!

not pleasant, more interested in money
I booked this hotel over the internet but had difficulty with the format. I was trying to make sure that the room had enough beds for my wife and me. Initially the form showed I was receiving possibly a single bed for the two of us, so I tried to cancel and make another reservation this time showing two of us were staying in the room. The hotel upon my checking in charged me for two rooms. Advising me that the room adjacent was for me also. I declined to take the room and the room was eventually rented to someone else. The hotel insisted I pay for two rooms anyway saying it was not their problem. That's an extra $200 for something that obviously should have been taken care off. The rooms were small, no view except an air shaft,no coffee or any other amenities. The breakfast buffet was 19 euro, a ridiculous price for all you can eat eggs and cold cereal. I can say that the location was good and the hotel concierge was knowledgeable. Our previous stay in Amsterdam we stayed at the Arthur Frommer Mercure and found that place to be a much better bargain and just as good location.
