Rooms

The Die Port van Cleve Hotel's 121 non-smoking rooms welcome guests with cozy yet modern decor, wood furnishings and accents of royal blue, burgundy and mustard for a sense of soothing elegance. Standard guest rooms come with either a twin or double bed, while the executive level business suites come with king beds. Features

The 1880s architecture and design elements of Die Port van Cleve Hotel evoke old-world Dutch warmth and charm. While modern amenities like complimentary Wi-Fi offer convenience, it's touches like the Delft blue-tile frescoes from 1887 together with the fine liquors and jenever tastings at the hotel's elegant Bar De Blauwe Parade that provide authentic appeal at the Port van Cleeve Hotel. Succulent, deservedly renowned steaks (the hotel has served more than six million) and hearty Danish cuisine are on order at the Die Port van Cleve's welcoming Brasserie Du Poort. The property also provides tour desk, reception and laundry services.

Dining

Brasserie 'De Poort'
In the Brasserie 'De Poort' you can enjoy a combination of traditional Dutch and international cuisine, prepared with fresh ingredients daily. The restaurant is famous for its numbered steaks, which have been served here since 1870 and come with their own numbered certificate. The unique 'no-nonsense' style of the executive chef ensures a pure culinary adventure.
Bar 'De Blauwe Parade'
The authentic Bar-Bodega 'De Blauwe Parade', well known for its unique Delft Blue Frieze, is an institution in Amsterdam. For an aperitif, a joyful drink or perhaps an original gin tasting, Bar-Bodega 'De Blauwe Parade' is the place to be. The bar is also a great place for an informal diner.
Coffee Corner/ Bar 'De Hooiberg'
At Coffee corner/ Bar 'De Hooiberg' the staff will gladly welcome you for a relaxing cup of coffee, tea, appetizer or a digestive. With a street front location it is great to watch the people pass by in the busy centre of Amsterdam city. This historic bar is located next to the Brasserie 'De Poort' and was once part of the Heineken brewery, which shows from the wall frescoes and wooden floors. Guests can stop in for drinks or light snacks from late morning through early evening.

Great stay in Amsterdam

This was a nice hotel for a very reasonable price. The city tram had a stop immediately in front and it was only about a 5 minute walk from the central train station. The food at the restaurant on site was delicious and they had the best pancake and ice cream dessert! The one downside was that the hotel was renovating the air conditioning system at the time, but they provided a large fan that was sufficient.

Good location in Amsterdam

We flew in and out of Amsterdam on our month's vacation. Good location for hotel; close to restaurants, shopping right next door, walking distance to Central train station for our trip to Alkmaar Cheese Mkt on Fridays. Many museums and tourist sites within walking distance too.

definitely a good experience!

We really had excellent customer service. The front desk staff was gracious, assisted us in storing luggage, recommending great eating spots, calling a taxi when needed. Our room was clean and nice. Lighting a bit dim in the evening if one wanted to read because our room just had a skylight. (Other rooms available with regular windows). There are stairs but also a lift for moving luggage. We booked another two nights there in a week, when we return to Amsterdam to fly back to the states.

Good Hotel...Great Location

The hotel was nice...a very decent European hotel. What it lacked in anything it most definitely made up for in location. This hotel is so centrally located that anything else does not matter. The rooms were a bit small but nothing can be done about that...the only thing that was a bit annoying was that the hot water in the shower would go slightly cold every so often but it wasn't unbearable and AT LEAST there was was hot water.

MUST SEE TULIP FIELDS...THEY ARE AMAZING. Check with the front desk, they can help you book a tour. It's only about an hour bus ride away.

Nice Hotel, Good Location,

We stayed in Die Port van Cleve for 4 nights in April and the hotel was nice. The lcoation is excellent, roughly 10 minutes walk from the station, a minute walk from dam square and 15 minutes to the Leidersplein. Also ther are trams that stop right outside the hotel. The rooms were nice size especially for Amsterdam where most hotels are usually small, the rooms were of similar size to that of standard UK Premiere Inn etc. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us a map upon arrival as well as highlighting certain spots and things we had planned to do. The hotel also has a resturant and a bar although we didn't eat in the resturant but it seemed quite popular. Overal the hotel was nice but the only negative was that the hotal sink and toilet were a little smelly (drain smell) but only noticed this when you ran the sink tap. Although we didn't complain about this as it wasn't that bad.

Interesting

Overall the hotel was ok. The wireless internet was choppy which was a disappointment. The beds were very uncomfortable but ok for the two nights. Very clean but the hallway smelled of covered up cigarette smoke. I might stay here again if its the last option but definitely not a favorite.
