Not what I expected

I thought the hotel had a good location, but that is the only positive thing I can say. The hotel hallways smelled like the sewage was backed up. Two of the reasons I picked this hotel because it said had air conditioning and wifi Internet access, but I was disappointed by both. The entire floor air conditioning units were not working due remodeling taking place. When I complained about this to the font desk they were rude and refused to make any accommodations in price. On top of all this the Internet was incredibly slow making it difficult to conduct business or use skype to make any personal contacts while I stayed in this hotel. In addition to all these problems, the final kicker was a 25€ city tax that was that was not previously disclosed upon checking in that was required at checkout. I would not recommend staying in this hotel.

Anne Frank Hius is a short walk. I went at noon and there was a massive line. Went back at 19:30 and only waited about 5 minutes

Great stay in Amsterdam

This was a nice hotel for a very reasonable price. The city tram had a stop immediately in front and it was only about a 5 minute walk from the central train station. The food at the restaurant on site was delicious and they had the best pancake and ice cream dessert! The one downside was that the hotel was renovating the air conditioning system at the time, but they provided a large fan that was sufficient.

Good location in Amsterdam

We flew in and out of Amsterdam on our month's vacation. Good location for hotel; close to restaurants, shopping right next door, walking distance to Central train station for our trip to Alkmaar Cheese Mkt on Fridays. Many museums and tourist sites within walking distance too.

definitely a good experience!

We really had excellent customer service. The front desk staff was gracious, assisted us in storing luggage, recommending great eating spots, calling a taxi when needed. Our room was clean and nice. Lighting a bit dim in the evening if one wanted to read because our room just had a skylight. (Other rooms available with regular windows). There are stairs but also a lift for moving luggage. We booked another two nights there in a week, when we return to Amsterdam to fly back to the states.

The second time I stayed at this

The second time I stayed at this hotel. Considering the excellent location combined to friendly staff, I will most probably stay at Die Port Van Cleve Hotel also during my next visit to Amsterdam. A couple of comments: the air conditioning was under way but not yet available in my room. The breakfast was nice and worth the price "offer" 14 euros per person per day - normal price would have been 19 €.

Good Hotel...Great Location

The hotel was nice...a very decent European hotel. What it lacked in anything it most definitely made up for in location. This hotel is so centrally located that anything else does not matter. The rooms were a bit small but nothing can be done about that...the only thing that was a bit annoying was that the hot water in the shower would go slightly cold every so often but it wasn't unbearable and AT LEAST there was was hot water.

MUST SEE TULIP FIELDS...THEY ARE AMAZING. Check with the front desk, they can help you book a tour. It's only about an hour bus ride away.
