Great hotel with great service.
Great hotel with great service. Had a room with a view over the garden - fantastic! Was however surprised to find the room cheaper at the hotel than what I paid online.

Filsonotsogood!
The room was tiny, I mean TINY as you couldn't stretch your arms across the room without hitting the other side. The hotel is close to OVERTOM and you can hear the cars on that street all night long as it's busy. Just generally not the best that Amsterdam has to offer. We won't be staying there again....

Weekend Stay
Quite distinct and quirky hotel with lots of character. Great location, just by beautiful Vondelpark with easy transport to Central Station. Foyer was a bit dusty and could be more clean...though that partially comes along with the territory of hotels in older buildings. Room, however, was very clean. Only real qualm is that the 'wireless' internet was horribly week in my room. I had to sit in the corridor by the elevator to get a strong enough signal for my mac. Otherwise, staff was very friendly and helpful.

Great location great price great service
This hotel is in a great, quiet neighborhood in the historic part of Amsterdam (next to Vondel Park and near the main museums) and only a few minutes walk from active nightlife. My room and bed were generously sized, comfortable and quiet and although the bathroom was small (as in most European hotels) it included everything necessary. The garden is gorgeous and the staff are very friendly. I did not eat the hotel breakfast (like many European hotels the breakfast was quite pricey) but the staff steered me towards an excellent local coffee shop. I would definitely stay there again.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
The train and tram system in Amsterdam are an excellent way to get to and from the airport and around the city for much less money than a taxi.

friendly and Quiet
The Filosoof is located on a fairly Quiet street just 10 minute walk from " The entertainment square ". The staff, while fairly young, are friendly. knowledgeable, and as helpful as can be. The garden in the rear of the main bldg. is a quiet refuge from the noise of the motorbikes, which abound. If the hotel calls you a cab it is a little bit more money than if you call yourself. Amsterdam was a wonderful experience, but be prepared to constantlybe on alert for bikes, and motorbikes, which follow no rules of the road.We were almost hit by motorbikes riding on the sidewalk and bikers who were texting when they should have been looking out for us pedestrians. Also. the windmill tour was a total rip.Asone person on the tourwith us commented " Itwas more of a shopping trip than an instructional tour. Themuseums are a big plus, and the Anne Frank house wasa worthwhile experience. The Canal bus is expensive, and stopped service at around 6:30. Buy a tram pass. Wefound it the mostreliable and convenient mode of transportation. most breakfast places do not open until 10am. One exception is Barneys Uptown Coffee shop near Central Square, which opens at 8am.

The hotel is in a pleasant and
The hotel is in a pleasant and convenient location for the park and museums. It has a nice garden, but the hotel itself is rather shabby. There were no mini-bar, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, decent toiletries or even tissues in the room. It has no restaurant or proper bar although there are plenty close by. It is a glorified B&B. Worst of all, having hung the "Do not Disturb" sign on the door, I received a phone call from reception asking if I wanted my room serviced, whilst there was a lot of very ostentatious banging, clattering and vacuuming going on outside the door. For the price and location it was only reasonable value, rather than the "bargain" I had hoped for. I find it hard to recommend, it needs a thorough overhaul.
