Best Place to be!

Would recommend Mon, Jun 30, 2014
This beautiful hotel was perfect for us. Easy walk to the museums. Very clean, and the room was big for european standards. The staff was so accomodating and multilingual. We've reserved it for our return trip in August.

Dining

There is a shopping street one short block away. Inner canal is two blocks away. Museums are one block away.

A Week in Amsterdam

Would recommend Mon, May 26, 2014
Superb location right next to the 'Big 3' museums. The staff were unfailingly polite and helpful and recommended an excellent Indonesian restaurant for our first night. When we wanted to eat Chinese reception was honest enough to admit that they did not know of anything local and were happy when we returned later that night with a card from an excellent restaurant we had located in the area. The only complaint I would raise would be the price of €5 for the bottle of water in the room. Yes it was not compulsory but on your first night you are not looking for local supermarkets so I felt they were taking advantage.. Otherwise I could find nothing else to fault and must give the staff top marks.

Dining

Cafe Leontje for excellent beef, great Dutch beer and a fun atmosphere.

excellent long weekend

Would recommend Thu, May 15, 2014
Chose this hotel at random for the Keukenhof flower Parade weekend & couldn't have made a better choice. A few minutes over the road from the Rijksmuseum in lovely leafy quiet road. On the main 2/5 tram route & 197 stop to/from Schipol airport. Hotel staff very helpful, informative & very courteous. Room was immaculately clean & we had a marvelous week. Will definitely stay here again.

Dining

Leidseplein behind Dam memorial & first left 100metres DE BLAUWE HOLLANDER - a family owned Dutch Restaurant with excellent traditional Dutch food - found it by chance & then realised we were eating there 9yrs ago. You'll need to get there early or book as it is very, very, popular & great value & a great break from all the steakhouses.

Wonderful stay! Great location

Would recommend Tue, Dec 10, 2013
The hotel was in the perfect location if you are avoiding the extremely noisy areas and still wanna be close to the action. It was close to the tram stop, the museum quarter, and some nice cosy restaurants in the same region. The only disadvantage was they did not offer free wifi even in the lobby area! I had to buy wifi (pricy) just to use my computer for simple things. Overall, my stay was perfect, the staff were really nice as well and it was a clean hotel. I definitely recommend it.

The hotel is well sistuated in a nice neighborhood near the coty center. The rooms are quite good and the staff is very feiendly and helping. It's too bad that the breakfast and wifi are not included in the price.

Bilderberg Jan Luyken Amsterdam

Would recommend Thu, Nov 28, 2013
On a quiet street and about as perfect a location as possible for the art-interested. Within a few blocks of the Rijksmuseeum, the Van Gogh museum, the Stedelijk, and the Concertbegouw. Room was tiny but adequate. Excellent but pricey (ask at check-in) breakfast buffet, with good cheese, smoked salmon, fruit, etc. Try the wonderful chewy raisin/currant bread. Friendly, helpful staff.

Time saver

Take the 2 or 5 tram from Central Station; it stops at Jan Luikenstraat about 1.5 blocks away.

Location,location......

Would recommend Mon, Aug 26, 2013
For visits to museums this hotel is perfectly located. The rooms are small but clean. Breakfast is good but pricey at 15 euros. The front desk support is spotty: they missed a wake up call and only provided Internet access information after multiple attempts. But after I complained they made every effort to make up. But overall we had a good stay.

Money saver

You can have good coffee and some buns in the kiosks in front of the Rijksmuseum.

Ideal location

Would recommend Thu, Aug 22, 2013
Ideal location. Easy to reach by bus 197 direct from the airport (approx 30 mins). Just off Museumplein (Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, Concergebouw etc) and close to the lovely Vondelpark. Easy walk into the centre of Amsterdam in a few minutes and easy access to buses and trams for travel further afield. Not close to railway station but as we arrived by air this was fine. Very polite and helpful staff. Free wi-fi which was very welcome. (Breakfast was an expensive extra so we didn't have that in the hotel.) Excellent room. We were three sharing (two adults and 16 year old child). Extra bed was provided in room and there was plenty of space. Nice extras such as toiletries and bath robes and slippers. Comfortable beds. Very good value and would recommend to others and would use again.

Dining

Eating out all the time is expensive in Amsterdam. We were on a budget so used the AH supermarket on Museumplein for lunch sandwich provisions.

Perfect location

Would recommend Wed, Jul 24, 2013
Brilliant location for the museum district and the bars and restaurants of the Leidseplein area are only a five minute stroll from the hotel. The superior rooms are wonderful and well worth the extra cost. My partner said the room really made the holiday for her

Entertainment hint

The Heineken Experience is a great few hours. Pay extra to get the rooftop BBQ burger and beer, but beware it closes at 6pm. Take the free boat trip back to the centre of town, it's as good as any of the boat tours we were on and it's not too long
