Friendly, efficient comfort

We booked this hotel because it offered a full breakfast, snacks, and drinks in the hotel lobby, or living room as the staff like to call it. We arrived tired from our long trip. The gentleman who checked us in, sat down with us in comfortable leather chairs and gave us a map of Amsterdam, circling various sites and museums he recommended. Since we arrived at 10:30 am, we understood that our check-in wouldn't be until 3:00pm, but our room was ready at 1:00pm, which was a welcome surprise. We were also upgraded to a junior suite on the first floor, which was fine for us. We had no view, but none was expected at booking, and we had a comfortable King sized bed, a soaking tub and separate shower, flat screen TV, WiFi, two chairs and a desk/bureau. The furnishings were a little quirky and thrown together, but they fit in the home-spun ambience the hotel achieves. We felt completely at home, sitting in the living room having a glass of wine, a beer, or a soda. They also keep the mini-bars in each room completely stocked. Everything in the mini-bar is free. There is no added charge for this. There's also a cappuccino coffee machine in the lobby for early risers. Breakfast is served downstairs and it contains an extensive selection of cold meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, fresh juices, cereals, milk, and a second cappuccino machine.Omelettes or French toast are made to order. It's all delicious. Local delicacies have signs that offer a description of the food, the name, and correct pronunciation. The front desk offers tickets for sale to museums, and other activities. TIP: Within walking distance we recommend Incanto Italian restaurant which has excellent canal views and great food. Also, for more contemporary Holland cuisine, try the excellent Spelt Restaurant, just across the bridge. Both of these restaurants were staff recommendations, and they were top notch.

Quick Stay

The hotel was advertised as all inclusive, and our stay certainly lived up to expectations. The mini-bar in the room, the afternoon wine and cheese service in the lobby, the all day open bar in lobby, and the full breakfast complete with excellent made-to-order omelets were all top notch. Good central location within walking distance to most attractions. Staff was helpful and informative. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Just what we needed

My husband and I booked a privately owned apartment for our previous visit three years ago. It was not a great experience. The Banks Mansion was the antidote we found for our next trip. A superb location on the grand canal, wonderfully trained and attentive staff, close to the main museums, a complete and delicious breakfast -- we could not have asked for more. In fact, we might have asked for less. The open bar and snacks downstairs means large and sometimes rowdy guests during the happy hour, even though the rooms are fully stocked with alcohol, included in the bill. But really, a fantastic hotel. Highly recommended.

Comfortable base

An interesting experience through encouraging use of comfortable ground floor common area, instead of guests sitting in own room, to give relaxed informal atmosphere enhanced by free refreshment. Pleasant fellow guests, helpful young staff, and there can't be many better locations for tourists.

Amazing !

Booked this hotel for 4 nights for my boyfriends 21st birthday, was Worth every penny! The breakfasts were gorgeous, Lots of choice and fresh pancakes and omletes are made to suit you.the location of the hotel is great it's just a 10 minute walk from the Heinken experience which I would also recommend and a 15 minute walk to Amsterdam centre or a 5 minute tram ride. The hotel is also around the corner from a bike hire which is really good fun. The staff were so helpful and helped us with recommendations and places to visit! The fact all drinks are included is a bonus as drinks outside the hotel can be very expensive ! At 4pm every day they have a cheese board or soup and they also have a selection of wine and beer plus spirits included Aswel. They also have snacks such as nuts or light nibbles. You have a mini bar in the room with Cans of coke, lemonade and bottles of water which are good to take out during the day to save some more money! Would only ever stay in this hotel and it's gorgeous and all drinks are included and in a great Location! 5* !!

Interesting all inclusive hotel

A very friendly hotel, where all the drinks and nibbles come for free. The experience was quite different to anything I have experienced before, as the free bar encouraged you to engage with fellow travellers in the lounge, which meant a very social type of trip. Staff were exceptional extremely well trained and made you feel very special by giving you a tour of the facilities and explaining the concept of the hotel. I must say it was wonderful when you got tired of sightseeing, to know you could pop back to the hotel for a hot chocolate. Also to enjoy the wine and cheese provided in the early evening. The rooms were pretty good too, if a little small.
