GREAT HOTEL GREAT LOCATION
Rooms are dark and the internet connection is painfully slow. Other than that, oustanding location with very helpful Staff. Balcony with a view of the square.

Location, location, location!
The location of this hotel is ideal. We were able to easily walk to everything...Anne Frank, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Monet, a wonderful canal boat experience (recommended by the hotel), the big park south of the hotel,a wonderful very active evening outdoor area just next to the hotel. It was very cold and even snowy when we were there, but, being so close in, we were able to experience the outdoor fun city life. Everyone is outside...even riding bikes...in the cold. For me, the highlights of the hotel were the history and the restaurant. It is a fascinating historic site, as told in a large display on the wall. And, the restaurant has the most romantic atmosphere I have ever felt...AND the best brownies!! They also have a very relaxing bar and lounge.

This hotel has pluses and minuses.
This hotel has pluses and minuses. The biggest plus is the location on Liedesplain. The frequent buses (370 and 197) from Schipol stop outside. Liedesplain is, perhaps, the most vibrant and lively part of Amsterdam with bars, street art and restaurants. It is the intersection of bus and tram routes giving access to the rest of Amsterdam. The major museums, tourist attractions, the town centre, Jordaan and de Pijp are nearby. Clearly the minus in this case is the noise at night. The hotel front desk staff were pleasant and our room was good, well furnished and clean. A big minus was the service in the restaurant was very slow and idiosyncratic. The food, given the hotel standard, just ordinary and pricey. However the 1900/art deco room was worth a visit on its own. The biggest minus given the high room price and hotel star rating, was that breakfast was not included (20 Euros extra) and this really rankled.

Absolutely WONDERFUL Hotel
The Eden American Hotel was absolutely beautiful. I was able to check in early, the staff was great. My room was very clean with a balcony over looking the front fountain. The room was perfect size, not to small. Everyone needs to remember when traveling abroad the rooms will not be huge. European cities are old and rooms will be smaller than the US. The price I paid through [...]was dirt cheap..... and my vacation was wonderful!!!!!

Had a very pleasant stay at Eden
Had a very pleasant stay at Eden American Amsterdam. Staff were always friendly and offer good advice about the city. The bar is cosy yet vibrant, and spent a lot of time trying to identify the pictures of the celebs on the walls. The restaurant served delicious food. Location is perfect!

Unhappy biz traveler
I don't recommend
The rooms were shabby, dirty walls and tiny rooms. I had to move twice - once b/c my room looked like it belonged in a basement and the 2nd time b/c I came back at midnight and they had a full blown party going on at their restaurant and my room (non smoking) smelled like an ashtray! If you can believe it, they thought it was acceptable to inconvenience a guest like this simply by sending out a "letter" to your room! The front desk gave me a hell of a time switching rooms, lying that they were fully booked, just b/c they didn't want to move me to a higher price range! If I wasn't pregnant I don't even know if they would have done so at all... I go to Amsterdam regularly on business, love the city, but will NEVER stay in this or any Eden hotel again.

Love the customer service
2nd stay in the same area on a business trip, the location was great, the service was very good. The rooms were a little small, as was the workout area. Breakfast was a single 20 Euro option for a continental buffet. I would have been happy with a less expensive option for just oatmeal and cereal.
