Classic Room
The Classic rooms are approximately 20 to 30 square meters. Some rooms have a spectacular view over the Amsterdam canals, others on the vibrant Leidseplein. All our Classic American rooms are non smoking rooms and have the luxury of air conditioning.
Deluxe Room
The DeLuxe American rooms are 30 to 35 square meters. The majority of these rooms have a beautiful view over the Amsterdam canals or the vibrant Leidseplein. Most of the DeLuxe American rooms have a balcony with a nice cosy seat. All rooms are non smoking and have the luxury of air conditioning.
Standard Junior Suite
The Amsterdam American Hotel has 15 American Junior suites. Our renovated meeting rooms are situated on the ground floor of the Amsterdam American Hotel - Hampshire Eden. The three main meeting rooms can be combined into one large room for larger events. All rooms have a capacity of 110 persons for a meeting, 125 persons for a dinner and 225 persons for celebrating a big party. The hotel is easily accessible by public transport and Byzantium parking is located within 5 min. walk.

Our Caf Americain is a sparkling "hot spot" for local Amsterdam people, writers and artists: who come along for a bite, a drink, or just for reading the newspaper at the reading table. Do you fancy meeting someone famous? Both national and international movie stars have been spotted in our renown Bar Americain from time to time. Bar Americain has recently been restyled and therefore is even more popular than before amongst locals. It is also still the "hot spot" for national and international movie stars. An ideal place for VIP-spotting while drinking an award winning cocktail. During summertime the terrace offers a great opportunity to watch people.
Cafe Americain
Wine and dine among the local Amsterdam people, artists and actors. The ambiance in the dazzling Cafe Americain is dynamic and most of all cosy. Great place to stay

Great location, especially for the Rijks Museum. We had an amazing huge room overlooking the square, fountains and canal. Very comfortable room, and a great bathroom with a huge bath. Staff were helpful and polite. The hotel is quite elegant and the bar/restaurant is very atmospheric/ art noveau Would definitely recommend it.

Luxury and warmth in Amsterdam

This gets all the stars. Wonderful position for a stay in Amsterdam - bus from the airport (197) stops right outside and the hotel is just across from the Rijks Museum. The Hotel is quite exceptional - beautiful room and the staff cannot do enough to please! Food is amazing the bar is highly recommended...We had an amazing stay- hope to repeat again soon!!!!

Never Again!

I have stayed at this hotel 3 or 4 times before and was quite pleased with it. The hotel is now dirty, noisy and under construction. The restaurant is very expensive with one of two meals ordered was uneatable.

GREAT HOTEL GREAT LOCATION

Rooms are dark and the internet connection is painfully slow. Other than that, oustanding location with very helpful Staff. Balcony with a view of the square.

Filled with Elegance and Style!

A truly great location with great connections to central station a 7 minute tram ride direct to the Hotel. LeideSquare is happening with good restaurants and an amazing walk filled with shops all the way to Dam Square! The Hotel is filled with Elegance and style very clean and friendly. Breakfast can be pre booked for 15 euro but well worth it! An amazing grand dining room filled with Smoked salmon,meats,cheeses,eggs cooked however, pastries,fresh juices,proseco!! And bread fresh from the bakery. Pure indulgence!

Fun Trip

Hotel was great especially the staff. Always wanting to please. We arrived early and the desk clerk not only stowed our baggage while we visited around but also got us into our room about 4 hours early. She was great! The food in the restuarant was excellent but pricey. The hotel history is amazing if you're into design and architecture. The location is in the heart of the city and easy to get buses (right out front) or canal transportation which is only steps away. I would return again. For those however who like to smoke the weed, the hotel has a strong prohibition so it's excellent for the family vacation.

First time in Amsterdam

Staying here was perfect! It was my first stay in Amsterdam and I loved it. After a long flight they made getting settled into my room easy, as well as recommending places for me to go explore. I would easily do this again.

Great Place 2 Stay

You cant get a better location, nothing was more then a 15 minute walk away and there is a lot to do right there in the Leidseplien square. The hotel staff was friendly and ready to help- but help was not needed. The rooms were kept very clean and the furnishings were newer, the building was well maintained and had a steam room and a gym. public transportation- bus train and canal boat- all stop right outside the hotel. Showers were hot and had pressure. Did not have a great view- window looked over an interior roof area. No microwave in the room, there was a hot pot for tea or instant coffee that worked great. I did not try room service.

to get around in Amsterdam, remember the layout of streets and canals are circular, not block style like in the states. 4 right turns will not get you back to your starting point
