Located in the Medina and just minutes from the famous Jama El Fna square Riyad Lila wa Leila is accessed through a colorful and mysterious labyrinth of passageways that evoke Ali Baba, Aladdin and a host of legendary and mythical Arabian mysteries. Passing through the door into the Riyad, visitors have the sensation of passing through a corridor into an experience akin to C. S. Lewis's Narnia. They arrive into an oasis of simplicity, refinement and discrete luxury. Traditional citrus trees of oranges and lemons dangle from above the tastefully restored 18th century Marrakech courtyard, termed locally 'Riyad'. Upon arrival, the scents of frankincense and sandalwood perfume the air offering a tranquil welcome to the weary traveler. A fountain trickles in harmony with the songs of wild doves perched on the perfumed vines and citrus branches. Your host, the friendly and engaging Hassan El Amrani guides guests to a table offering traditional mint tea, cool citrus juices and Riyad Lila wa Leila's special rosewater baked delights. Check in completed, guests have the sensation of being in a secluded and charming oasis away from the colorful and exciting bustle of the Medina. Slip your weary feet into Riyad Lila wa Leila's complementary Moroccan leather slippers and refresh yourself with specially selected bath salts and oils. Let Hassan suggest interesting destinations in the Medina for shopping, dining or simply for soaking in the experience of Arabian nights vista. At sunset drift to the rooftop garden for relaxation, refreshments and Riyad Lila wa Leila's delicious canapes whilst watching the sun cast its rose hued daze amidst the wafting palms and views of Marrakech minarets and high Atlas Mountains. Book an in-room massage with aromatic oils or select a cozy corner on one of the Riyads balconies to read a book and listen to the soothing music of the Oudh; let yourself float into the enchanted relaxation that is Marrakech's unique gift to the traveler. After a quite and peaceful nights sleep awake to the freshness of a Marrakech daybreak and ascend to the rooftop terrace for your morning breakfast lovingly catered by the chef where gourmet coffee, Moroccan pancakes, pastries and freshly grown local fruits are deriguer, or enjoy one of Riyad Lila wa Leila's herbal omelets with goat's cheese and chives while absorbing the gentle caressing rays of the Moroccan morning sun. Release your worries, tensions and work concerns by checking emails on Riyad Lila wa Leila's complimentary Internet facilities. Or simply ignore pedestrian everyday concerns by slipping back in to the bustling labyrinth of the mysterious and enchanting old city of the Medina, comforted by the promise that the privacy of Riyad Lila wa Leila welcomes your return. Guests at the beautifully restored 18th century Riyad Lila wa Leila are ensured that a visit to the splendid and romantic city of Marrakech is peaceful, unruffled and above all delightfully memorable. Hotel also offers free breakfast.

Wonderful week

The Riyad is at the heart of the Medina but away from the hustle an oasis of calm and tranquility. For Hassan our host nothing was to much trouble (organizing trips and taxis). Breakfasts were scrummy. Dinner which can be arranged by request was delicious and reasonably priced.
