Fantastic Stay at Hotel Kenzi Menara Palace

Would recommend Mon, Jan 11, 2016
We stayed for 7 nights at this Hotel and it exceeded our expectation in all ways. We were given a family suite that was quite spacious, had a super king size bed and two single beds. It had all amenities except a iron and a board. That's why I had given in 4 star. It was cleaned every day by house keeping staff. The staff were friendly although a few were not able to converse in English. If you know little French, it would be helpful to get a conversation. The checking in was smooth without a problem and we were given a warm welcome. Passport details were taken but we were not kept waiting. Wifi was great and our two kids were able to access you tube videos simultaneously. The music and the movies of the entertainment section wasn't working and so we were not able to get much out of the two flat screen TV's provided to us as there was no English Channel. We found the lunch and dinner buffet to be costlier. If we had explored the full board and inclusive options instead of breakfast only, we could have spent less on the food. There was a cinema theatre and a mall just behind the hotel (10 minutes walk) and it was convenient to get milk and other items for the kids from the super market. Pounds in cash can be converted Moroccan Dirhams at the hotel. We used the hotel to book transport to go around Marrakech for excursions and with a bit of bargain you may get a good deal.

Family Trip

Would recommend Tue, May 5, 2015
Hotel was great. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. I have to give a big shout to the Head Concierge, Charif and also Receptionist Fatima. Both were amazing. Speak clear English and were very very helpful. Also Mr Rene. The Director Generale. He was hands on. I saw him at 6:30 am in the restaurant in his shirt putting out glasses and dishes. He his very very hands on and doesn't wait for anyone to do a job. He gets on with it. Overall. I was very happy with the hotel and the staff. One last comment. Please heat up the water in the swimming pool. It's a leap of faith the first time you jump in!!!

Perfect retreat away from the mania of the medina

Would recommend Sun, Aug 3, 2014
This hotel is fantastic, rooms are exceptional, spacious, comfortable and very clean. Most of the staff are brilliant. It's well worth going all inclusive here as it is a short taxi drive into the centre which you would need to take for every meal at a coat of approx 70dirhams and no other restaurants locally only those in other hotels. The food choice is excellent there are three restaurants a moroccan which has live music every evening the menu changes every Monday an Italian a la carte for which the menu is always the same and a buffet which changes options daily. The buffet is out of this world you couldn't ask for more there is a wide range of options at every meal. The only improvement they could make would be motivating the pool bar staff during the busy periods we did find there would be a long queue at times and the manager would just sit there watching rather than helping behind the bar and the waiters would not assist in making drinks they would just stand waiting for the kitchen to bring out meals. Overall a fantastic holiday in a lovely hotel. Readers may be pleased to hear another pool has just been built which is heated, so if you are travelling in the cooler months you will now be able to have a swim without freezing! There is also a small indoor pool within the spa. My top tip would be to book a ground floor pool facing room on the east side of the hotel, you will then have a garden area little overlooked which catches the sun all day. This is our second visit to this hotel and I can say, though we have now seen all we wish of marrakech (particularly the medina!) we would revisit this hotel if we ever take a weekend break as it guarantees sunshine, relaxation and reinvigoration.

Attractions

Visit the donkey sanctuary SPANA, a short distance from the marjorelle gardens and take lots of carrots (3dirhams per kg) with you. These poor donkeys need your love and affection, they work so hard and love gifts of carrots and kindness, the organisation does a fab job of looking after the animals and donations are always gratefully received as its a voluntary organisation working hard to change the way animals are treated, they even run daily educational classes for the local schools to educate the next generation. I think this was our favourite afternoon out!

Not quite there

The good: large rooms; nice decor throughout the hotel; comfortable outdoor area with huge swimming pool; free mini-bus to the medina; tasty food in the Moroccan restaurant. The bad: incredibly noisy bedrooms, especially those with an interconnecting door - could hear all the neighbours' conversations and toilet habits; wildly expensive food and drinks - £5 for a tiny beer and £10 for a burger and chips (pricier than London!); convoluted and lengthy check-in process that involves signing an agreement to allow the hotel to 'block' $200 on your credit card.

I had an amazing experience at hotel Kenza Menara Palace in Marrakech. The staff were very detailed in making sure my stay was comfortable as well as helping to plan my close friends last minute surprise birthday party. I will return next year with more of my friends from America.....easy access to shopping in the market square and other fun activities. We ate at all of Kenza's in House resturant and I must say the food is outstanding....hotel Kenza Menara Palace you get more for your money then my stay in Zurich Switzerland were most of the people were not friendly.

Hotel was very nice, only the food let it down, On the web site there was more choose of food, the breakfast was always cold, and when we did look at eating in the evening, it was a cold buffet. Also the tea and coffee in the room, you had to pay for the teas and coffee, I have never had to pay for them before in all other hotel.

Not a 5 Star Guest Experience!

Would not recommend Thu, Sep 19, 2013
Very disappointing primarily due to the poor guest care. Hotel information promised much. Actual experience was exceptionally poor. Facilities were just about OK BUT the staff attitude is appalling. Check-in procedure unwelcoming and rushed - nothing explained. All food and beverage staff spent most of their time standing around chatting rather than proactively looking after guest needs. Breakfast OK but staff had to be chased for everything - hot drinks, napkins etc. Lunches from snack bar inconsistent and bland. Making a fast buck was the order of the day; even the little sachets of tea/coffee etc in the room were chargeable! Questionable approach of concierge team in the organisation of tours. Hotel shuttle bus inflexible; last minibus into Jemaa El Fna was 5pm even though the same bus left the hotel at 7pm to do the last collection in the same place though guest couldn't use this to travel in! We believe this was a ruse to get people to eat at the hotel rather than going into the centre. Wouldn't stay here again. Wouldn't recommend.

Entertainment hint

If you hire a guide from the hotel, make sure you are clear WHERE you wish to go and WHAT you want to do. The guide/driver we hired both tried taking us where they wanted, where they knew the staff and who gave the hard sell on goods and services. They were probably on commission! Very unpalatable.
