Should be 2-star not 5

Reception often had a queue of unhappy customers shouting at a useless manager. Customers are allowed to smoke in the communal areas making the place fairly unpleasant. Breakfast often short of cutlery, tables not cleared, long queues for some buffet items, terrible coffee. In our 1st room the window latch was broken, the 2nd room was OK. The basic gym and indoor pool costs €10ph! So obviously it was always empty. A strictly no-frills experience. Definitely not a 4 or 5-star property.

Beautiful Building, Fine Setting

The hotel itself is great. Nicely located. Charming garden. It would be great venue for children since it has toys outside. Nice pool. The staffing, however, could use an upgrade and the food (unless you order room service) is pretty bland. It's not a 5 star experience by any means, but toss away the breakfast buffet, and chaotic check-in lines, and it's certainly a nice, relaxing environment while you're there.

overrated 5 star

welcome at reception and reception of spa area leave much to be desired. housekeeping staff and spa staff very friendly and efficient - spa area needs whitewash and indoor swimming pool seems unhygienic. good value for money if you consider the hotel corresponds to a medium 3 star house even for northern africa standards

Could Be Better

The hotel exterior looks beautiful and the lobby isn't too bad either. My hard suitcases was slightly damaged by the hotel staff. The luggage is carried to your room by the Bell Boy due to the costomerlift not being big enough so I was disappointed to see my brand new case damaged, I can only assume that it fell onto the floor but it was ignored and no aplogy was given at the time. On the first night I requested that someone have a look at the bath tap, no one ever came. The 3rd day the power went in our room only by the lights short curcuiting I had to keep calling for it to be fixed, it took 2hours for someone come to fix the lights so the room was in darkness and no TV for that duration. All in all the staff are quite plesant they hotel just needs to work on somethings to reach the standard that I expected and have become a custom to with 4-5* hotels. The food is good but the beds could be a bit more comfortable, I also suggest they use higher thread count sheets for added comfort.

Lovely restful hotel

The distance from the centre was an easy 20min walk, and as the hotel is quiet and very peaceful in the pretty gardens, this suited us really well. The outside pool was a bit too cool to swim in, in late November, but the sun warm enough to laze outside till 3pm. Very few children when we stayed. We ate several times at the hotel Moroccan restaurant where the food was very good and a good price, and the service excellent (as was the belly dancer). Staff helpful View from 4th floor window in East building gave lovely sun in the evening.

So it's not 5 stars, but...

The lack of little things kind of let Hotel Kenzi down. Things such as no clock in the room, washcloths for the shower, the plug in the tub didn't work so I couldn't soak after a long day of travel and walking, and other small details that a traveller would expect. You can tell that the place is a bit dated and slightly shabby, but not falling to pieces. You can tell that the management understand and are keeping things in as good nick as they can. However, having said that, the room upon arrival was pretty clean, the beds were very comfortable (they gave us 2 doubles!) and nice to have an air-con that worked. Staff were always friendly, especailly in the outside bar area. Unfortunately, the dinner buffet was a real let down. Kind of bland and very predictable. Breakfast buffet was okay, nothing to write home about either, but better than some other places that only offer croissants and coffee. The pool is quite nice and big. Not sure if it was because we went after school started, but there definitely was a noticeable absence of children which pleased me and my partner since we wanted a nice get-away to relax. Like I said, it's not really 5 star, but with a little bit of attention to detail, Hotel Kenzi has a great potential to get there. I would reccommend this to anyone who wants a nice place to stay out of the hub of the city center and is not fussed about not having every luxury that other hotels might offer. But the price was right, we slept wonderfully and are now back home enjoying our tans and memories of Marrekech.

Dining tip: In Hotel

Dinner is mediocre at best. You would do better by going into the Medina and having dinner at one of the various food stalls there. You won't be subject to bland Euro cuisine. Breakfast is okay. Selection of the usual hot fare, sausages, boiled eggs, pretty good selection of pastries and bread and the usual fruit and yogurt. There is also the option of having an omlette made for you as well as pancakes and flatbreads.

could been better

the managing staff needs to look further into their staff's service ... prices are very expensive for dining in , perhaps that should have a big turn around on their guests dining out more , breakfast buffet needs an omelette station , rooms need remote control with batteries in them , , the spa is over rated and way too pricey that is way too much even the true 5 stars are cheapers , a smiling staff won't hurt if theu meet you and smile to every guest , i will recommend this hotel but not for more than 2 nights there are a lot of nicer hotels in marrakech
