Very average hotel, far from five stars
Stayed there two days on a business trip. The hotel is inexpensive and the gardens are nice. However, it does not feel like a five star hotel at all - the staff was not very friendly, the rooms and the spa feel worn down, the breakfast buffet is mediocre and gives very much a feeling of mass tourism.

Lovely restful hotel
The distance from the centre was an easy 20min walk, and as the hotel is quiet and very peaceful in the pretty gardens, this suited us really well. The outside pool was a bit too cool to swim in, in late November, but the sun warm enough to laze outside till 3pm. Very few children when we stayed. We ate several times at the hotel Moroccan restaurant where the food was very good and a good price, and the service excellent (as was the belly dancer). Staff helpful View from 4th floor window in East building gave lovely sun in the evening.

So it's not 5 stars, but...
The lack of little things kind of let Hotel Kenzi down. Things such as no clock in the room, washcloths for the shower, the plug in the tub didn't work so I couldn't soak after a long day of travel and walking, and other small details that a traveller would expect. You can tell that the place is a bit dated and slightly shabby, but not falling to pieces. You can tell that the management understand and are keeping things in as good nick as they can. However, having said that, the room upon arrival was pretty clean, the beds were very comfortable (they gave us 2 doubles!) and nice to have an air-con that worked. Staff were always friendly, especailly in the outside bar area. Unfortunately, the dinner buffet was a real let down. Kind of bland and very predictable. Breakfast buffet was okay, nothing to write home about either, but better than some other places that only offer croissants and coffee. The pool is quite nice and big. Not sure if it was because we went after school started, but there definitely was a noticeable absence of children which pleased me and my partner since we wanted a nice get-away to relax. Like I said, it's not really 5 star, but with a little bit of attention to detail, Hotel Kenzi has a great potential to get there. I would reccommend this to anyone who wants a nice place to stay out of the hub of the city center and is not fussed about not having every luxury that other hotels might offer. But the price was right, we slept wonderfully and are now back home enjoying our tans and memories of Marrekech.

Dining tip:
In Hotel
Dinner is mediocre at best. You would do better by going into the Medina and having dinner at one of the various food stalls there. You won't be subject to bland Euro cuisine. Breakfast is okay. Selection of the usual hot fare, sausages, boiled eggs, pretty good selection of pastries and bread and the usual fruit and yogurt. There is also the option of having an omlette made for you as well as pancakes and flatbreads.

Friendly and helpful staff, though
Friendly and helpful staff, though a little french will help you more. Information limited at check in, but reception staff happy to answer any queries and all general hotel facilities are available. Great pool and gardens, food is relatively expensive compared to central Marrakech. Air-con a must in summer at 40C, so this was welcome. Towels for the loungers or pool are provided poolside for guests. Not a 5 star, but not a 3 star either...somewhere in-between! Medina is only a 30 minute stroll, safe night or day. Word of warning - set taxi price before setting off if you prefer to travel this way or you will be stung! Explore beyond the tourist souks in the medina and you will have a better experience - you will get lost, but that is part of the fun, and the sight of the main minaret will always guide you back to the main square, which is a busy spectacle at night. Moroccans are friendly and they accept a polite 'non merci'.

could been better
the managing staff needs to look further into their staff's service ... prices are very expensive for dining in , perhaps that should have a big turn around on their guests dining out more , breakfast buffet needs an omelette station , rooms need remote control with batteries in them , , the spa is over rated and way too pricey that is way too much even the true 5 stars are cheapers , a smiling staff won't hurt if theu meet you and smile to every guest , i will recommend this hotel but not for more than 2 nights there are a lot of nicer hotels in marrakech

Remerciements

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
