Comfortable rooms, basic amenities at Marrakech hotel in new city area
The Diwane is located in the heart of the Gueliz district of Marrakech. The hotel sits among the cosmopolitan restaurants, shopping and nightlife in the newer part of the city. From the hotel, it is about two miles to the old city to explore the Djemma El-fna town square, the Saadian Tombs and the minarets of the Koutoubia Mosque. The modestly equipped Diwane hotel features an outdoor swimming pool, a traditional spa and an on-site Moroccan restaurant and pizzeria. Guests can sip cocktails and listen to live music at the piano bar each evening.

décor was very full on Moroccan, location is ok, near European shops (Zara, Mango)and some great places to eat which were cheaper than eating in the souks restaurants.
Room had all the useful stuff like tv, shower etc but their were mosaic tiles
coming off the table, decor is a bit dull/dark and needs to be spruced up. Ok place to stay for a short while = we only stayed for two nights.
pancakes and omelettes to order for breakfast were the only hot foods available everything else on display was cakes. Did not have lunch or dinner at Diwane, eat out at the local restaurants they are cheaper and you have more variety to choose from. They also do not like you to bring in your own drinks food and have a sign up by the entrance.
I would only recommend to a friend for the distance to the souks and the location which is about 25min walk from the main square.

Short walk from hotel
round the corner there is a supermarket, on the way there you will also find shops that sell everything you would find in the souks but they have prices on so no haggling or annoying people trying to rip you off, prices are reasonable!!
I booked this hotel based on the size of the pool and its proximity to another place I had been staying. The hotel is very large and in a convenient place. The buffet breakfast was good (the best selection I'd seen in Morocco), and the pool
enjoyable (when trashy Euro-pop wasn't blaring, or kids splashing from every corner). However, this is most definitely not a 4 star hotel, 3 at most (this seems to be standard across Morocco - always subtract one star from what the sites/ hotels tell you). The room I was in was very large, with a queen sized bed and a sofa, and clean, and it was nice and quite. It also had a bar fridge in which made keeping drinks cold possible (I was even able to freeze a few!).
One of the big drawbacks was the staff. It was difficult to get any information from the desk staff about the hotel's facilities (there is an on-site restaurant) or much else.
If you're only looking for a place to sleep and occasionally take a cooling swim, then this fits the bill. If you're looking for luxury, try elsewhere.

Along Mohammed V, a short walk from the hotel, there is a very nice (and cheap) restaurant/ cafe called 'Elite'. The service is good and during the warm nights they spray a fine mist to keep the al fresco dining area cool.
