Dining

AL JOUNAÏNA (LE PETIT JARDIN)
Dine deliciously in a chic yet relaxed gourmet restaurant overlooking the Fes medina. Dishes are inspired by traditional French cuisine: taste authentic foie gras, for instance, paired with one over 100 wines from the sommelier's cellar.
RESTAURANT AL FASSIA
Experience traditional Moroccan cuisine by female chefs from Fes. Set in the 1879 palace, atmospheric décor features elaborate ceilings and velvet banquettes - and a terrace for dining under the stars. Catch live Andalusian music and belly dancers.
AL MANDAR
Sip a signature cocktail, fresh juice or fine wine in this English-style bar in Fes and nibble on delicate French appetizers. There's a reason it's known as "La Vue" - whether inside or outside, you get a magnificent panorama over the medina and gardens.

A Superb Experience Sofitel Hotel Palais Jamai Fez

Staying at the Sofitel Hotel Palais Jamai in Fez, Morocco, was a superb experience! The hotel was an 19th-century palace constructed by a vizier and it still retains some of its original grandeur. It is a beautiful building, with a large pool surrounded by palm tress, and a great view of the Fez Medina. With its three restaurants, its wonderful rooms with excellent bathrooms, and an extraordinary staff that makes all efforts to help the guest, it is one of the best hotels I have stayed in during my life.

Dining tip: In Hotel

The Moroccan restaurant in the hotel is both excellent and beautiful! The Moroccan food is very good. I recommend the Moroccan red wine Volubilia.

Exceptional location and service

Perfect location for walking tours of the Medina. Very knowledgable guides offered through the hotel. Also booked a drving tour to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis for 1000 MAD - highly recommended. When not out site seeing, hotel has a gym, spa, large pool, garden and several restaurants for an enjoyable stay.

Americans in Fez!

Morocco is quite an adventure for Americans and well worth the effort. The peak of the trip is staying at the Palais Jamaie at the top of the medina in Fez. This hotel is a former palace with 5 star accomodations. Stay on the 6th floor on the city side with an incredible view of the medina. For those who prefer quiet the mountain side is more serene. The front desk and concierge staff are pleasant & very helpful. English is their third language so be patient. In particular i would like to thank Hamza Karim who was a trainee at the hotel. He took us on an exclusive tour of the palace, including the prince's quarters (now the King) as well as where Bill & Hillary Clinton stayed when they visited Fez. Ask for this tour!! Go on guided tours through the Medina as well! Remember to have lots of coins to tip and don't buy a Persian rug.
