Cliffside hotel with restaurant, bar, infinity pool and amazing views
The Hotel Irma is perched on a cliff overlooking Playa la Madera and has a long tradition of serving tourists on Mexico's Pacific coast. Originally featuring just 12 guest rooms and a staff of four, hotel expansions have resulted in the current layout of 67 comfortable guest rooms and several terraces and paths leading to two swimming pools with sweeping views of the bay. A hand-carved stone fountain and traditional mural at the entrance set the tone for the charming style found inside the Hotel Irma.

Highlights
  • Free parking
  • On-site Los Nichos bar
  • Two swimming pools with Pacific views
  • Direct access to Playa la Madera
  • On-site spa

Rooms
Decorated with blue and orange tones, guest rooms at the Hotel Irma evoke sand, surf and sun. All rooms feature ocean view balconies, satellite TV, one king or two double beds, air conditioning, hair dryers, dressing tables and chairs, in-room safes and wake-up service.

Features
The Las Naranjas restaurant at the Hotel Irma specializes in Mexican food and offers in-room dining. Enjoy house specialties such as Omelet del Mercado Cholula with chile poblano sauce or the traditional Tamal Oaxaqueño, while background music sets the perfect atmosphere for an unforgettable experience.

After a refreshing swim, stop by the on-site Vista Spa and Wellness Center at the Hotel Irma to indulge in personalized massage therapy. Traditional handcrafts and souvenirs are available at the hotel boutique.

Knock out views

Beautiful views, quiet, unpretentious with a lovely staff to meet all your needs. More umbrellas pool side would have been appreciated especially when trying to find some shade.

Visit the bar in the Italian restaurant on the promenade in town and Arturo, the bartender, will make sure you have a good time.

great beach location

the staff was great. The room was clean. Not luxurious but we weren't there a lot and maid service was excellent. The only problem was the water was unpredictable the first couple of days. sometimes we didn't have it in the morning. But they took care of it in a timely manner. The pool area was very nice. We mostly just had breakfast there meal-wise and it was always very good.

Decent hotel with great view

Beautiful view of the bay with some real nice restaurants nearby, infinity pool and easy access to both beaches, about half way up the cliff. But hard beds and water problems take away from experience.

Great warm weather getaway

It is the perfect location in Zihuatenejo. It is short walk downhill into Centro area of downtown which contains markets and restaurants. The other direction is a short walk to La Ropa beach area. La Madera beach is just down the stairs at the ocean front from the motel. There are two pools with one overlooking the beach and ocean below. It is very quiet place to stay.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

We walked to the centro and to the beaches and saved on many taxi fares. It is warm walking during the day but perfect in the evening. Also, take a small flashlight for evening walking to see the uneven surfaces on the beach walk or the cobblestone paths.

Didn't want to leave!

Hotel Irma... where do I even begin? This was our first time staying at a "regular" (non-all-inclusive) hotel in Mexico, and we were a bit nervous. But the minute we stepped inside we knew it would be a fantastic stay. In fact, I'd rather stay here a hundred more times than visit any of those other all-inclusive resorts! Hotel Irma is charming and "old Mexico." It's ridiculously clean, the views are to die for, the food and drinks are excellent, and the staff is so friendly and inviting. Our only complaint -- hard beds! I didn't mind but my husband had a hard time sleeping, so next time we might bring a pillow top or foam. And there WILL be a next time because I could not get enough of Zihuatanejo and Hotel Irma!
