Fiesta Inn Veracruz Boca del Rio
Location, location, location also seems to apply to holel selection. This hotel is located at the end of a reef and between two rock jetties (used to maintin the sandy beach). This means swimmers enjoy the calmer west half of the beach, snorkelers can check out the reef and beginners could even try surfing in the medium waves breaking around the eastern jetty. To me, the beach was mostly a view, I could sit in my room with a drink, the window open, the breeze blowing in and play video games. To each his/her own. The part I loved most about the hotel, is everything, worked. The remote worked, the water worked, the lights worked my laundry was immaculate and the building didn't fall down in the earthquate.

Sightseeing tip:
Long walk from hotel
The harbour where I live is industial and dirty. Veracruz harbour is the immaculate showpiece of the city. You can walk down, see the big boats, tour the historical zone or go to the museums. If three miles from the hotel is too long a walk, taxis anywhere along the coastal city cost five bucks to/from the hotel.

I stayed with my daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren (2 & 1)for my last 2 days of a two-week visit with them. We found the hotel to be a very good value. The rooms were immaculate and comfortable, the food in the restaurant was excellent and all of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff went out of their way to get us some food when we arrived in between breakfast and lunch. My son-in-law and daughter did most of the communicating so I don't know if anyone speaks English which might be a problem for people who don't speak Spanish. The pool was great, perfect for the kids. The hotel is quite a way down the beach which is good and bad. Far enough away from the busy center, but too far to walk to the Aquarium (which cost $60 pesos one way and $50 the other by taxi). The Aquarium was first class, even better than the one we have in Boston! We also went to the Children's Museum which I thought was very good, providing kids with the opportunity to play with real life items, such as a fire engine, grocery store, doctor's office, etc. Two "problems" we encountered with the hotel were minor, I had to prove to them that I had paid through Orbitz. Never ran into that issue before. And, at first we were told that we had to wait until 4:30 to get to our rooms. Somehow that got worked out but we couldn't get adjoining rooms. Overall, we all found this a very pleasant and friendly place to stay and a good value for the money.

The Fiesta Inn Boca del Rio hotel was comfortable and staff members were very helpful. It was close to some of the major attractions.

Close to Plaza America Mall and close to the Acuario, Malecon and to a Walmart and Costco.
