You get what you pay for

Book through Orbitzzs = Get the Orbitzz room = No ocean view / no pool view / view of the 'Garden' = a lawn. Staff stated that the Hotel was booked and no rooms were available, but in the same sentence offered us the same size room with a view for an additional charge. So just keep that in mind of the sales tactics of these hotels. When booking through a 3rd party you don't have the leverage you would as if you had booked directly through the hotel. Also a new one the staff added which should be covered in the booking was the resort fee. It was like $18 US dollars a day to use the pool and amenities which was frustrating. Imagine buying a new truck, and just before driving off in the sunset you ask for the keys and realize they weren't included in the sale.....Again another reason to book through the Hotel (nothing against Orbitzz, I love you guys). The staff was good, maybe a little much at times and needed to give us a little more space but tips are their livelihood and I rather have to much attention than not enough. The on-site market was a great convenience, but be aware of their 'liquid gold' or otherwise known as $10 dollar sun screen. This was marketed up at least 150%. The room was very comfortable. The bed and pillows are great. The hotel maids did a fantastic job cleaning the room. The kitchen was a great asset. Be aware of the Stephen Cloobeck brainwash channel, which continuously runs and is always the channel the television defaults to when it is turned off. Nothing against Mr. Cloobeck, in-fact he is more of a business man / entrepreneur than I could ever be and is quite the generous gentleman but I get a laugh out of little things like this. Maybe this is why I could never be Mr. Cloobeck but IMO it takes away from the true classiness of a great hotel. Great hotels don't need to tell you how great they are, and if Mr Cloobeck ever reads this comment I would want you to know that you have done a fine job with the Diamond empire. No need for the DVD loop, maybe individualize each one, and make a loop for the 'Cabo Azul' and loops for your other Diamond estates. Overall the experience was good. I enjoyed my stay. I just had to share a few things that bugged me.

WOW! Great Resort

I've traveled to a lot of really nice places and Cabo Azul has to be one of the best resorts we have stayed in. The suites are amazing. We had a two bedroom villa and you can tell the resort tried hard to make sure luxury is everywhere. I'm definitely going back!

Relaxing Time

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. We rented one of the beach view villas. Loved having the kitchen and the convenience this brought. The room is great. Very clean. Bed was super comfy. The only compliant that we had was that the lighting was pretty dim even when the dimmers were maxed out. The pool is gorgeous. They have two for one drinks from 3-5 PM. The chairs and beds around the pool are awesome and super relaxing. Talked with people staying at other hotels and this was much more chill than other places. If you want a relatively quiet place that is very relaxing, this is the place for you.

Beautiful resort

This is a first class getaway. Easy to access from the airport and once you get there all you need to do is relax. Great rooms, amazing staff and an absolutely gorgeous pool. It exceeded every one of our expectations. Can't wait to return and would consider bringing our child too.

Great resort

Afternoon of check in was not good. Mgr claimed no room was available and wanted to send us to a time share property up the hills for a 3 BR unit and asked for us to stay there the whole time if we wanted. We had no choice but to agree, but its sister property was no good. We wanted to be close to the beach, not 20 minutes away, plus we didn't need 3 BR where nothing worked (low water pressure, ants, no working safe), so we came back to Cabo Azul first thing next morning. Room was finally available at 2:30 pm and everything worked. Mgr put us in a 2 BR unit with some other benefits, so we were happy. Has best beach right in front!

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Heard enough complaints about its restaurant on site, so go across street for a number of dining options! Or walk or bus to downtown San Jose del Cabos. This hotel never tried to talk us into a timeshare presentation, which was good. We would not like it. Watch out. they may send you uphills to another time share just to force you to try the other place by saying your room was not available.

This resort is awesome!! I've stayed at numerous resorts, but this one is OVER THE TOP... Excellent!

The rooms are large, very clean and impressive. The staff... Very friendly and everyone greets you with a smile. Anything you need, they follow through promptly and always with a great attitudel! The property is fabulous and the three infinity pools are impressive! The concierge scheduled our activities including scuba dive, jet ski and dinner reservations. It was just awesome! We will definitely be back at Cabo Azul.

Wonderful Honeymoon vacation!

Cabo Azul was wonderful...the service and staff were incredible and very accommodating. Suites are beautiful and very clean...but lighting is dim which is a bit annoying but everything else was great. The pool was fantastic...three large infinity pools at the perfect temperatures with plenty of comfortable lounging areas and great happy hour from the pool bar and wait staff! The beach is wide and beautiful although they do not recommend swimming due to the rough surf and rip tides...we did venture in with extreme caution as we have this surf and tides in New England but did not want to be stupid either...Javier restaurant also fantastic....we highly recommend this resort...great value for the experience!

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Worth a trip to Todos Santos along the Pacific coast to this neat Mexican town and home of Hotel California...also Cerrietos Beach Club just prior to Todos Santos is a wonderful place to spend the day in the Pacific surf and lounging in the sun...full wait service, bathrooms and massages on the beach.
