Secrets Silversands Riviera Cancun - Adults Only All Inclusive

Rooms were nice, but on the small side. The "minibar" was a substandard, warm, small fridge, with a few beers, pop, water. We smelled a stench of odor every morning, and the steps had blood stains that never were removed, although we pointed it out to the staff. Pool areas were nice, but claiming a chair was a daily first thing of the morning ritual. Food and drinks were good, and wait staff was pleasant. Evening entertainment consisted of games or shows that were audience participation, no real professional entertainment, but there were a few good bands that played in the evening. We did not appreciate having limited access to the interenet(limited to 15 minutes per day with a code). We have stayed at adult all inclusives that were much nicer, and more generous than this one was. We will not go back here.

The reason why I picked secrets silversands was that we stayed at Dreams La Romana in Dominican Republic last Christmas and had a wonderful experience there. And Secrets happened to be under the same company as Dreams. However, Secrets Silversands was not as great as Dreams, and we were somewhat disappointed. There's no buffet styled restaurant for dinner, and they don't serve bottled drinks for room services, whereas Dreams had that. And also, the kinds of fruits were very limited as I was expecting exotic tropical fruits, but all I can get there was regular fruit that I could easily get in Canada. The most important thing is the BEACH is not that clean. Some seagrass and wood stuff keep staying along the beach and no one cleans it. They hurt your feet, and you won't feel happy swimming in the sea, and the pictures you take there will look disgusting. In a word, if you are staying there for a non-holiday seasons, it should be good as you are not going to pay that much for disappointment.

We visited Secrets Silversands 3 years ago and even though all that time has passed nothing looks to have aged much at all. The grounds are very well maintained and exceptionally clean. The restaurants were well staffed and presented a quality product that hit that hit the mark more often than not. I have a restrictive diet but still found enough choices to meet my needs. Bars were aplenty and drinks are readily available however as casual drinkers we found some of the mixed drinks a little too strong on the alcohol side but I'm guessing most people are okay with that or like us simply got that modified by a word or two to the bartender. On our exit evaluation form we recommended that they get more desk staff at the SPA as we had to wait about 10 minutes each time to attempt to book a treatment. (although if you call via the room phone it seemed to go a little faster.) Aside from that hiccup we have no complaints or concerns with our visit and would definitely go back. We have stayed at a number of other resort chains throughout Mexico and this specific Secrets property is always in the mix for our vacation plans.

Had a great time, beautiful place, staff were so friendly, rooms were clean and contemporary. We met some great people... Can't wait to go back!

Overall we had a great experience and will go back and visit again

We stayed for 4 nights in Dec 2011. Overall a really fun resort with a great atmosphere. But probably not the best choice if you are a beach or food snob. PROS: There were tons of different activities that people actually participated in throughout the day, and the Veranda bar was hopping every night until about 1 am with live bands and DJs. The other guests were very friendly and easy to talk to, so we met tons of new people when we normally don't talk much with other guests. I also liked that the resort was kind of small, so it was really easy to run back to my room if I forgot something and you don't get lost going to dinner. CONS: - The fish and shrimp dishes were really good, but the rest of the food was just ok. - The pool bar and some of the smaller pools are in the shade a good portion of the day, and the pools and hot tubs were pretty chilly. - I am not much of a beach person so it was fine for me, but if you like pristine beaches you might want to wait until they are done reconstructing the beach. There were a lot of workers building docks and cleaning up the beach. Also, it is not so clear that you can see your toes in waist deep water like some other places.

Came back from a 4 night stay and had a blast. The rooms are beautiful and the staff was great very friendly. The beach isn't very good, but I'm more of a pool person anyways. My only suggestion is to have more entertainment at night. After 9:00 the place is a ghost town. The first night they had a band and dancing until late and it was fun, the other nights really nothing going on besides hanging with your own group. Food was good, dinner restaurants are great, lunch left a little to be desired but I could deal with that. Overall a great experience and I would definitely stay at another secrets resort in the future.

From the point we walked off our shuttle, after booking the zone "drop off" incorrectly (cost me 40 USD), We walk into the resort and totally forgot what just happened. Its easy to forget once your greeted with cool floral scented towels, and glasses of bubbly wine. No, it wasn't our honeymoon, this is just how they greet all the guests, good first impression. As we were captivated by the modern decor, sunlight entrance, and multi-lingual staff, an instant feel of comfort set in for us. After the usual sign in stuff, other couples, we can tell enjoying the all-inclusive bars all over the resort said there hello's and invited us to Karoke at the sports bar that night. Our bell boy, Abraham was very informative with a laid back demeanor, he answered all the questions we asked with a confidence and honesty all the way to our room. I would have had a corona with him and hung out, but he told me that is not allowed by anyone on the staff, and then he calmly told us, enjoy. Wow! what a cool room, we were on the 4th floor ocean view Junior suite. This is a little more private then the 1st floor, it had a great view of the ocean, ocean view pools, and was a very nice sun rise spot too if thats your fancy. So what to do first, yes sir, coronas in the mini fridge and fear not, a bottle opener is attached to the cabinet drawer where the mini fridge is kept. I really like the old school soda pop bottles too, brings you back a little. Bathrooms are nicely spaced with a very large jaccuzi tub and rainfall shower. They have nice amenities (lotions, sunscreen, etc,) which is always great to have. Use as much as you need, they replenish whatever you use up. Ohh, and the activities calendar they give you everyday, awesome, especially if you like to get involved in fun things. But now let me digress, Ill let you have your own memories and experiences, ill shorten this up and give you just a heads up on a few things that are stand out-ish. Hot tub by the ocean, great, at sunset, they bring sparkling wine and glasses every night. They have servers to cater to you and get you drinks every where you are like the beach, infinity pool, lounge chairs, etc. take advantage!! Marica, the activities head, she's really fun, play the lotteria, (a kind of mexican bingo) for a bottle of free vino tinto...and learn how to salsa, lessons are fun and pool side. Carlos, at noon sharp, at the pool bar only, its a first come-first serve, and for ladies only; makes a pina colada in a pineapple or coconut, with a fruit face on it, very awesome and fun. Where SPF 50.......and re-apply often!!! Breakfast: I loved it in the world cafe', drink hugo de verte, a very common and very nutrition filled (hang over) juice of 5 staples( ask a local)...my favorite juice even if im not with a hang over. Dinner: French restaurant, really good, i was very impressed with this one, we went twice to be honest. Japanese was closed for us when we wanted to go....BOOOOOO! The other restaurants, good, a couple hit or miss on a few items. Music: live on most nights, very fun to dance the night away till 1 or later. We wish there was more music by the main pool bar but we get it why there is not, just relax I was told. Spa: very nice and truly the best experience worth while for this trip. Its an extra cost but worth it if you have ever gone to one of these before, with a whole hydrotherapy lounge and dynamic pool with some fun jets to play around with. The huts by the private pool were a little dirty but we just didn't lay in the beds. My message, well, was amazing, i literally fell asleep, i know cause my lady was teasing me about it. It was amazing if you know what to get. I Hope this helps all of you that may read this.
