great Romantic Getaway

Great hotel and service was first class. Grounds were very well kept. Only negative is the noisy resort next door, however you do not hear it in the rooms or around most of the hotel. Will definately go back.

expecting more

for the price and reviews I thought it was going to be 10 times better. The gym wasn{t big enough. The spa prices were very high. Dinner was spectacular, but breakfast and lunch wasn´t very good.

Amazing

Probably one of the best I've had. A little unaccomadating considering the large group we had, but can also understand that they probably didn't make any money off our group-we ate and drank them out of everything! :) Great experience for the first time out of country!

great couple's vacation

The resort is beautiful and the room was amazing-especially the bathrooms. Each villa has its own concierge which was really nice. No pool bar but waiters served you at your beach/pool chair. Not all of the restaurants were open that were supposed to serve breakfast and lunch each day so we ended up eating all of our breakfasts at one restaurant and all lunches at another restaurant so there was no variety there. They should post a schedule of when each restaurant is open so people can plan better. The main pool was AMAZING, many hot tubs and four poster beds facing the ocean were incredible for resting out of the sun. I would recommend this place!

Unbeatable service

We're seasoned travelers(staying at both all-inclusive resorts and otherwise), and can say with no hesitation, that the service and amenities at Royal Hideawawy were first class all the way! From start to end - six days, five nights - every staffer knew our names, our likes, etc. We were treated as the name implies, like royalty. The only disappointment was in the beef (lame complaint, I know). All the restaurants were superb - from the sushi and fish to the salads and desserts. But we tried the filet mignon at three different restaurants on site, and each time it was a huge disappointment. However, we are a bit spoiled in being from the Sooner State, where Prime steak is a specialty. I would highly recommend Royal Hideaway Playacar to anyone looking for a beautiful, serene setting with spa treatments that are not only appropriately priced, but worth every penny. Our concierge, [...], was always available to make arrangements for our every need. [...], a server at the main pool, was so attentive and sure to check on us regularly - whether we were lying poolside or on the beach. We highly recommend a stay at Royal Hideaway. One bit of advice, however: Buy your sunscreen across the street in the village drug store versus the gift shop at the resort. Two spray bottles of sunblock cost $47 US in the gift shop; across the street: $7 US per bottle.

Impeccable Staff and Service

The Royal Hideaway was exactly what we were looking for in an all inclusive resort and MORE! The courtsey and genuine consideration of everyone on staff was remarkable. Their attention to detail in an unintrusive manner, always with a smile and a greeting, contributed to the pleasant, relaxing vacation we wanted. The spa treatments were very good, their concierge service was impeccable and the outside activities offered were varied and offered with knowledge and background.

Excellent for adults only

As soon as you walk into the hotel you know it is first class. There is no desk where you check in. You are greeted by the person checking you in, asking if you'd like a glass of champange. She asks you to take a seat on the sofa in the beautiful lobby while she takes your papers and begins your check-in process. Then someone comes and offers you a cool wet face cloth. After getting the keys to your room, you go to your individual 2 level complex of about 12 rooms with your personal conscierge. He is the person you to to with all your needs, questions etc. THIS IS PROBABLY THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT WE HAD. WE WERE ONLY ABLE TO GET 9PM RESERVATIONS FOR EVERY NIGHT WE WERE THERE. THERE REALLY IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT. THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO SET UP THEIR RESERVATION SCHEDULE SO THAT PEOPLE COULD EAT AT DIFFERENT TIMES. After two days we got a different conscierge who tried very hard and got us an earlier reservation on our last night there. The service was very good and we tipped at all meals, less at the buffet breakfast and most at dinner. Our room was nice and I especially liked that when they came in for turn down service they cleaned the bathroom and replenished the towels. Unfortunately, because of the hurricane 3 years ago, they lost most of their beach and they have huge sand bags sitting in the ocean pretty much preventing you from going in to swim unless you climb over them. I usually like to just go in to get wet, so it wasn't a huge problem for me, but for others it might be. The best part was that their were no children running around and we were able to just sit and relax and really get away from it all. The Royale Hideaway is quite expensive, but you are paying for a first class hotel, premium drinks, service and an adults only atmosphere.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

There is a small shopping mall right across the street from the hotel where I bought a bracelet. Of course there's shopping in the airport, but it is a little expensive.

Friendly staff!!

The Royal Hideaway is a top notch hotel and spa. The friendly people, attention to detail and fantastic location make this a wonderful place to stay. The room decor is excellent! From the nice oversized beds and headboards to the wooden shutters on the windows. The grounds are very clean and you cant walk by anyone of the staff without them saying hi, everyone makes you feels very welcome. The bars and resturants all provide a great atmosphere to mingle with the other guests check out the piano bar. All in all though what makes this hotel such a great place to visit is the people that run it!! Our favorite person is Manuel the Bell hop! He can answer any question you have! In closing if you are considering going to an all inclusive resort in mexico I would say that this place cant be beat!

Not for singles

My wife and I recently spent a week at the Royal Hideaway and were delighted with the facilities, particularly the beautiful grounds, the excellent choice of dining options, and the relaxed, secluded ambience of the entire resort. Our only minor disappointment was with the timing of the maid service. Despite placing the please make up room sign on our door each morning at 8:00a.m, and even asking the concierge for earlier maid service, we were never able to get our room made up before 2:00 or 3:00p.m. This probaly wouldn't bother most people, but I enjoy a short nap after lunch and was never able to get one without interuption. Unfortunately, my wife had to leave a couple of days early due to a minor family emergency. I decided to stay behind for the remainder of the week since we had already paid for it. It was only then that I realized this is probably not a good choice for singles; at dinner where we previously received excellent service, I was largely ignored as a single dinner. My water glass was never refilled as it always had been previously, food got cold waiting on the wine I requested to accompany it, and my table was actually cleared when I made a very brief visit to the men's room between courses. When I complained, the waitress rather indignantly brought another table setting and water glass (but no lime as before, and no bread or wine that I had waited so long to get). Consequently, I could not recommend this resort to a single traveler and feel these service lapses were very disappointing in an otherwise very nice resort.
