Perfect low-key getaway!

I loved this resort! The food was great and the drinks were spectacular as well. All of the water is bottled and the ice is bagged. Great location, the water is not bright turquoise, but the grounds are so quiet and serene so I feel that it was a fair tradeoff. I went with a friend and we are both in our twenties, and although the resort is more family oriented, we enjoyed lounging and going to the in-resort shows. LOVED the restaurants especially the Hibachi grill. Some people mentioned having to pay for mini bar items, but we were not charged for anything at all at check out. The only think I would change is the spa having a charge to use; it would have been nice for the rainy day. P.S.: If you ask the front desk, they will set up a dehumidifier in your room for you. This is a must.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

You can do a shopping tour for like $19, but I found it to be boring and a waste of time. We went to a mall with RL and Lacoste, and in the same area on the Cancun strip there were a big Louis Vuitton and Fendi, etc., but everyone can go to those stores at home, so it makes more sense to stay at the beach and relax.

Attended wedding & vacation

My overall experience was good. The layout of the resort was nice and the activities were good. The beach was beautiful but the water had a lot of seaweed and detracted from the beach experience. You also had to get to the beach by 7:00 a to reserve chairs. The worst part of the resort was the food. It was not good for the most part with breakfast being the only meal that I could count on. We all felt the same way and for that reason we would not return to this resort. They also did not have casual food places available near the bar, beach or pools like most resorts which meant you always had to go to a dining area and sit down. The food at the wedding was not good also. The rooms also did not have liquor like many all inclusive resorts and some very basic liquor like Absolute vodka they called "premium" and therefore not available unless you had a "Premium" reservation.

Gorgeous Resort!

I loved the resort, the food, the staff! Check in was smooth until we were passed off to our "concierge" aka Time Share Salesman. Although Robert was very nice he was also very pushy and pursued us even after we had said we weren't interested in spending 90 min (which usually turns into 3 hours) of our vacation wasting his time and ours. Our room was lovely and was kept very clean. The meals were excellent. We had great beach service from our server Blanca, she was wonderful, kind and funny. The resort has a quiet adult only pool, which was a nice option if you wanted total peace and quiet. At night we spent time at the poolside bar which usually had some kind of entertainment or dance music. It was really fun and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves there. The beach heading towards Puerto Morelos is lovely, it's a beautiful place for a morning run or walk. The water in front of our resort was filled with sea grass and sea weed, pretty gross to swim in. I'm really disappointed with the amount of garbage that you see floating in the water and on the beach. The resorts should have garbage/recycling bins at each end of their beach and maybe LAZY guests would take the time to throw out their drink cups, water bottles and lids. It's very sad to think that the plastic that washes into the ocean, ends up in the stomachs of birds, various fish, turtles and other sea life. Ultimately it kills them. For a protected, National Marine Park area more should be done to keep the ocean free of trash. This to me was very disheartening.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

I went to Isla Mujeres on an Albatros Catamaran. If you're expecting a great snorkel trip avoid it like the plague. I've been on several snorkel trips and this was by far THE WORST I have experienced. There were 35 people on our boat and everyone had to follow a guide. There were 4 or 5 other boats from the same company anchored there, everyone looks the same as do the boats. It was total chaos. We even saw a catamaran leave 6 people in the water, they were yelling and screaming as there boat took off, luckily someone heard them and the boat stopped and picked them up. They obviously didn't count how many people got off to snorkel or how many came back on. Totally unacceptable and dangerous way to run a business. The cat ride was fun, the lunch on the island was good and the trip to the downtown was comparable to being attacked by vultures! The vendors were very pushy. I would not go there again. A better trip is definitely Xel-ha, it's a little far away from there but it's a very enjoyable experience.

Best Vacation Ever!

This was the most fantastic place to stay. Activities abundant, great coffee shop, fun fun night time activities and the food was out of this world. The Sensi restraunt rocked, the mexican restraunt was fantastic and the italian restraunt inside was ok but eating outside was perfect and great! The staff was very polite and very helpful. The rooms were beautiful and truly clean. I would and am plannig on staying at this resort again. Love this place.

Slightly disapointed

This is long so here's a quick overview: -Privilege status not worth it in off season. -Not fun for non romantic couples. -Food not great. -Everything closes by 8pm..zero night life. -Crazy seaweed and very cloudy water (just a note) -Overall we actually had a relaxing and nice vacation but there was nothing that makes me want to come back to this resort specifically. Details below: I took my Mom for a Mother's Day trip and we were greeted by everything saying "Mr. and Mrs" My mother and I both have very feminine sounding/looking names. Very minor but kind of off putting. ~Privilege status (not worth it in off season): ** Privileged didn't *feel* very privileged. Perhaps it was because it was the 'off' season but I really didn't see much of a benefit to having privileged status. ** The privilege only pool is very quiet, but this time of the year the entire resort was really very quiet...but then the entire resort was really very quiet so we wouldn't have had any trouble finding a quiet place to swim if that was on the agenda. ** I guess having the privilege area on the beach was ok, but we are early risers so it really wasn't a problem finding a spot on the regular beach either. Again, this is probably an off season thing. ** The room is quite nice. We were on the 1st floor of building 7 facing the privilege pool. No issues with smells or dampness of any kind. The bathroom was quite interesting, in that the toilet and shower are both in a separate type of stall within in the bathroom. Not bad, just different. ~Staff ** Pool Bar staff: I spent the majority of the time at the aqua pool / the pool with the bar in it. It was the most 'fun' party atmosphere type of pool. It was hard to get service at the bar. I don't know why. It wasn't overly crowded but I would just sit there and wait.. and wait..and then move to a different spot at the bar and wait.. When I got the server's attention they served with a smile and seemed nice, but more than once after I placed an order, I would sit there for a minute and they completely would forget my order and come back again. ALSO THE POOL BAR CLOSES AT 6PM - BOOOOORING. I mean I get it right, drunk folks in a pool...but come on! you were able to get out of the pool and go to the land bar and get drinks until 8 pm. but then everything closes. ** Beach staff. What beach staff?? My mom really enjoyed sitting by the beach in the privilege section so I joined her there frequently. Waiters never came by but perhaps once or twice in the 5 days that we were there. We could walk up to the hut and sometimes there was staff member there that would help but certainly didn't feel attended to at all. ~Entertainment - The only 'show' we saw was part of a 'dinsey' (assuming it should be disney) show.. we didn't stay. - Also in the aqua pool there was a "MS Ocean" contest. And ya know..that's all well and good - if there was a MR ocean contest to but noooooo. Apparently only women get exploited here. ~Food (nothing great): **Privilege only restaurant. The food was just..okay. Nothing special. My Mom had the portobello fettuccine and I had the coq o van. Meh. Nothing worth upgrading to privilege for. **Buffet: The only place open for breakfast/lunch is the buffet. Again, it was ok. Nothing special. **Italian restaurant. This was I think the most disappointing meal. it was bland and we left unsatisfied. ** Sensai - the Japanese (Bennie Hana style place) This was the best meal. We sat at the 'show table' and it was fun and delicious. ** I called room service once and they asked me to call back in 5 minutes...when I did no one answered the phone. ** This is just a note in general no reflection on the resort... the seaweed is crazy. They do the best they can with the tractors but even in just the water. I often wondered why no one swam in the ocean here and I figured it out. It's just swimming in a huge batch of seaweed.

This was our first trip to the Carribean and we are so happy that we decided to go to Ocean Coral & Turquesa! Their staff is amazing. Everyone was always very nice, helpful, and willing to help. Lots of options for food, reservations are super easy to make and there is always an option of the amazing buffet if you dont feel like making a reservation! Overall, great place and amazing service! girls vacation!

The staff are amazing! They are so hospitable and friendly. Event though it's all inclusive, we tipped regularly and the staff did give extra attention so it was worth it. They work darn hard and deserved it. The food is okay, and there is plenty of it! We had a room with an ocean view and it was worth the extra $20, that's nothing to have the waves lull you to sleep at night. The VIP breakfast tour is a time share sales pitch and wasted too much time. We got a credit for spa services that were just average. We had a blast and enjoyed the low key atmosphere. It was relaxing and what I was looking for. Great value!

Nightlife tip: In Hotel

The entertainment staff is super friendly and they work very hard to keep the guests engaged. They do some of their own shows in the hotel and they are pretty amateur, but funny. They do offer a shuttle to Playa for CoCo Bongo. Do that! it is worth it and they have a staff member with you so you won't get lost. The pool parties at night are fun and we met many new friends there. :)

Fun with Friends

We traveled with 2 other couples and one twelve year old. The hotel lobby was spacious with free wifi and the best bartender in the place. With four pools to choose from everyone could find a spot they liked for noise level. Hector and Erica rocked the pool activities. The food was good and we had no issues getting into our restaurants of choice in the evening. My one complaint is that there are not enough loungers between the beach and the pools for all the guests and people would have them all reserved with towels by 8am, many times they were unused for hours. If the hotel has a policy of not allowing this there was no visible enforcement the entire week of our stay.

Must upgrade to have the best experience

I reserved the least expensive room when I made reservation. I noticed that the hotel was very busy and figured if I wanted good service I would have to upgrade to privlege room and services. It was 50.00pp/pd to upgrade. I noticed many people frustrated at night because they had to wait over an hour for a table (unless you opt for buffet) but we were seated immediately. We also had private waiter on the beach, better liqour and the best dining in the morning and evening at the Fusion privlege eatery. This upgrade also gave us a butler who made our reservations and brought us whatever we wanted! Lobster was terrible! This was my second stay here, rooms are very modern and no privacy in the bathroom, glad I traveled with a friend and not a boyfriend, there are no doors! The first stay was very uncrowded and did not require reservations but this is not the case anymore.

FANTASTIC RESORT-5 STAR ALL THE WAY!!!

This resort was unbelievable!!! I would come back here every year. No need to research other places. Grounds were perfect, pools incredible, food fantastic, world class service all the way. Beach was well maintained and plenty of room, get your spot on the beach before you eat breakfast, so you get a promo spot. If you can, upgrade to privelge status, worth the money if resort is full. We got back yesterday and I planning next trip back already.

If you upgrade to privelge status you can make reservations at the dinning places and you get a reserved area on the beach, if the resort is full, this is very valuable.
