Value Hotel for Sure....
The location of this hotel was not bad. The rooms were gorgeous, the food and beverages were AWFUL! The beer was flat, the hot food cold and the cold food was hot. I didn't like the reservation system for the A La Carte restaurants.....I have stayed at other 3 stars in Cancun that were WAY WAY better!

good value for the money
We stayed for five days and wish it could have been longer. It rained a couple of days, but one day we had a massage under a palapa on the beach so that was fun. We had a couples stone massage another day that was on "special" (two for one) and that was amazing. The food was great, you did have to have long pants for the guys at the Italian and the Japanese restaurants. We made reservations and ate at the Italian one night and it was very good. The house wine was drinkable so we never ordered off the wine list and had a wine charge. The only issue we had was that the only beer they serve is Corona. My boyfriend likes different beers so this was disappointing to him. Since we booked pretty last minute and the swine flu thing was going around, we got this at a very good price. They did say that July of 2009 looked better for the hotel in terms of occupancy rates so the rates will probably be going up. We went mostly to eat, swim, drink, and relax and this was a beautiful setting to do all that in. There were activities going on all around and tours that we opted out of that would be enjoyable if you wanted to get out and go. Mexico seems to have harder beds that the US so if you aren't ready for that, be prepared. I would go back to this place again.

We gave one of the concierges some money and he went to Walmart and bought some different brands of beer for my boyfriend. Of course this wasn't a money saver since the beer was all inclusive, but at least he had some choices.

excellent value
This was luxury at a average cost. The location and grounds are incredible, although the resort is fairly new it is begining to show a little wear and tear. You can walk to Puerto Moreles in about 1 hour. The ocean is beautiful and most mornings the little bit of sea grass is cleaned up. The were pleanty of loungers and beach huts, so we did not have to put towels out to reserve a spot. we would return to this location, however we have more areas to checkout first.

Outstanding Getaway
This was our first trip to Cancun and with the prior reviews on this resort we were very skeptical. We usually go to Ixtapa and love it there. We booked anyway and am I glad that we did. The resort is outstanding and the customer service is premiere. The grounds are beautiful and the cuisine is the best. They have something for every taste, even the kids. We were there for eight days and will be booking another trip in a couple of months. Needless to say, this will be our new Mexico getaway!

Wished we'd stayed in Playa
Different but ok
I want to be honest and not rude so I am just going to list the pros and cons according to us: Pros- *Great pools *Close to Cancun *Very pretty inside *Nice drink service *Privilege lounge was a treat *Good cleaning staff Cons- *Water not as pretty as Cancun or Playa *Bed was hard (this has been typical of some Riveria resorts) *Food was not great even though there were 5 ala carte restaurants as well as buffet. We love to eat great food and local cuisine while on vacation. It was a disappointment. *Hotel was opened to locals to make back some of their loss due to "swine flu" issues (which is not occurring in that area)and charged a minimal fee for them to come. We felt VERY uncomfortable as the hospitable feeling of vacationers was not there anymore. *Transport fee was too high for not being any farther out of Cancun. *Privilege upgrade of $30 per person per day did not seem get us anything we wouldn't have had otherwise and that was just in comparison to other people we met and discussed this with.

Great Place for the $$$$
More often that not you can book a week at this hotel for a very good price, a price that to some may be a little concerning. I went with very little expectations, but my friends and I just got such a great deal I couldn't pass it up. The resort has recently been renovated and it looks GREAT! The lobby, restaurants, pools, beach all were very impressive. Pools are huge and gorgeous with some great lounging areas as well as a swim up bar at one. The food was good nothing to write home about, but definitely nothing to complain about. I will say the Japanese restaurant is very good if you get a reservation at the chef's table. A few tips if you book at this hotel: Crank the air way down in your room I was under the impression that because the AC was running it was doing the best it could….I was wrong, just crank that sucker down. If you want a king and they give you 2 doubbles go back to the desk and ask for a king....if they give you the run around slide a 20 across the desk and I bet they find a king for you. Get involved with the activities crew…they are a lot of fun. They play all kinds of games during the day, have entertainment (shows) at night, and they will sometimes come out at night to the clubs in Cancun. While the reservation says all tips and gratuities are included just know that a few dollars here and there go a long way. If there is one thing I will say is that the service does suffer from time to time. Just relax you are on vacation and remember how much you are paying to stay at such a beautiful resort…especially compared to some others in the area. If I had the opportunity to do it again I would in a heart beat!!

Beautiful hotel, bad service...
I just got back from this hotel on the 30th, we had stayed for 5 nights. We had booked a privilege room which was supposed to give you all of these extra benefits...the only good things about it was that we had our own section of beach and our own lounge where we could sit and get drinks. The hotel itself was beautiful inside and out but the service was horrible! Check-in started out great but we were supposed to get our room at 3 and we did not get it until after 4. The next day we were going to go on what they call the "VIP tour" and the person checking us in scheduled it for 9am. We went down to where we were supposed to meet and they said they did not have anyone to go with us because they like to do it earlier; however, the lady that scheduled it did not say anything like that. So we went back at 11 and did the tour/time share talk (it was bout 1 hr 30 min without breakfast) but we recieved 2 free 30 minute massages so it was worth it. The food was pretty good here. The buffet had a wide variety of food and you could always find something that you would want to eat. The Mexican restaurant was nice and had a very good fajita! The American restaurant was cute and also had good food and this was where we had the best service of our whole trip! The Japanese and Italian restaurants required the men to wear long pants - they do not let you know this on their website so my boyfriend did not bring long pants. He was wearing pretty long navy shorts and a nice collared shirt and they would not let him in, but they let in a guy wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants - he looked like he just rolled out of bed. It's not right to have a "dress code" just for LONG PANTS and not for LOOKING NICE!!! A few times we had ordered drinks from the waitress by the pool and she never came back with our order. That also happened once in the buffet as well. We were tipping extra but then the service just kept going downhill so we stopped wasting our money. Room service was ok when they actually brought you fresh food. One day we had ordered room service at noon and they said it would take a half hour (which it usually did). When they had not come an hour later, we called and re-ordered. They came up 20minutes later with both of our order tickets and the food from an hour ago! It was nasty. Also if you ask for something and they don't understand what you are asking for they just don't come back at all. Overall it just seemed like none of the staff wanted to be there, which may be true but I don't necessarily always want to be at my job but I still act pleasant! It was just not what I was expecting at all. I had stayed at a PALACE RESORT before and it was wonderful! The service, the resort, the food... everything was A+ there! So I had high expectations. If you go to this resort not expecting anything except a good view then you will not be disappointed.

Don't waste your money
This experience has been one of the worst for me, Unfriendly Staff, bad drinks, bad food, no parking, you have to beg to get a drink or even to have a table in one of their restaurants for dinner. Worst experience ever, the hotel started operations recently and they are clueless of what they need to do as a hotel.
