Overview

Operated by Spanish brand, H10 hotels, the Ocean Coral All Inclusive Resort means what it says all meals , mini-bar treats and drinks are included in the price. Open, circular spaces are filled with light, while suites themselves come in perky shades of purple and lime to match the exotic flora of the Mexican Caribbean. Of course, the chance to look out over sea as iguanas crawl up for a visit on your balcony is attractive in itself. The Internet-enabled business center is there if you have responsibilities back in the real world, or you can leave your cares at the door, with four pools, volleyball courts and Latino dance lessons to get stuck into. Broaden your horizons by taking your first free diving lesson onsite or dining tepanaki-style in the sensual low-lit ambience of Japanese Sensai restaurant, before retiring to the thermal pools in the Despacio Spa.

Neighborhood

About halfway between Playa del Carmen to the south and Cancun to the north, the Ocean Coral is located a short drive from the sleepy fishing settlement Puerto Morelos, and around 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport (CUN). Head inland from the beach to Crococun Zoo or dig deep into the natural surroundings of La Ruta de los Cenotes in Puerto Morelos you'll find snorkel-worthy underground sink holes to rival the jungles on land in this diverse part of the Riviera Maya.

Mostly good!!!

Would recommend Tue, Dec 22, 2015
First the good: had a royal master suite. Wonderful view, always clean, air worked great. Very happy with room. Privilege is a must! Ability to make reservations allowed us to bypass lines and always walk right in. Food was excellent everywhere. Can't say enough good about the restaurants. Not a buffet person so I cannot comment on that. But every meal was wonderful with excellent service. The privilege lounge has tapas (wonderful) and we found drinks much stronger. Had the lobster dinner which was great. I wouldn't go with out privilege. Well kept. Yes there is a tile missing in pool here and there. The place is always occupied and being used! But it is very well kept and manicured. I have stayed all over the world in some of the worlds best resorts. Is this a world best? No. But I can say it was an excellent value far exceeding my expectations! Now the bad: the beach does have seaweed floating in. This is happening nearly everywhere. We spent the day in playa del Carmen and they had the same issue. The resort has a tractor with a mechanical rake . They rake it up a couple times a day. We swam in the ocean and it ruined nothing. The beach itself is beautiful......and would I rather see no seaweed ever? Of course! It's not enough to ruin anything! Room service was mediocre. Only food complaint. We ordered breakfast in bed daily and while good....could have been warmer. But in the evenings I wanted to enjoy a cocktail on my balcony and waited for a bucket of ice for 45 min to 1 1/2 hr. Shouldn't take this long for a bucket of ice! Finally.....did get hit up for timeshare upon checking in. I shut that down immediately and heard nothing concerning timeshares after. Overall. It was a great trip. if you think you can get a four seasons resort at a ramada price.....you are mistaken. However, as an overall resort........this was one of the best I have stayed for the price. Will definitely go back!

Great solo trip!!

Would recommend Fri, Dec 11, 2015
Near Puerto morelos which is a neat little town to eat and shop and fish at! The hotel was very clean the staff was great. They had some construction going on outside my room facing my patio but I didn't care since I only sleep in it at night. They had great music shows and the foam party in the pool was a bast!

Resort was great. Staff was great. I don't recommend selecting any less than the privilege experience. We had friends that didn't do it, and they really wish they had.

Wedding on Beach

Would recommend Tue, Dec 1, 2015
The wedding planner was amazing! She made the day perfect with very little stress. Besides the seaweed, everything was awesome! The foam party is a must! Good food, friendly staff, and great pool choices. Wish the water was blue but understand that everyone is dealing with the same issues.

Nice Family Trip

Would recommend Sat, Nov 28, 2015
Location was good. Beach is only OK. Food was good. We had a small family (only 3 so no problem with restaurants). Larger groups had problems at some of the restaurants (the restaurants don't take reservations but they fill up very fast at the nicer ones). Pools are very nice and great for children of all ages. Service in restaurants was very good. Service for drinks around the pool was really bad. The majority of the time you have to go find a bar yourself to get a drink. Internet service (Wifi) is spotty, works sometimes and sometimes not at all. Overall I would say the resort is average to Good - and I hold very high standards.
