Nice but not extravagant
The grounds are very nice but the hotel and room look a little run down. Beach chairs and gym equipment can also use an update. What was most bothersome was the staff trying to get you to Attend their timeshare presentations. We got a good deal for this trip and feel we got what we paid for.

Long weekend away
I had a fabulous time. The staff were very warm and friendly, really went out of their way to be helpful. The food was lovely and abundant. I was pleased to see the hotel made a big effort to be environmentally conscientious. The only negative was that there were too many tourists smoking, it would be nice if the hotel had separate smoking and no smoking areas. The gym was great, the personal trainer was very knowledgeable and gave some wonderful workout tips.

Check in was an issue and initial room needed to be changed to accommodate infant with stroller. Food, setting and amenities good. Staff are slow but this is normal for area.

Very poor presentation, one of the worst Lobby's I ever been, lack of personal, We have a reservation at one of the restaurant at 9:00 PM we finish our meals at 11:00 one waiter for 30 persons, at the end of dinner we ask the waiter whats for desert? he said let me see the left overs.And no beach boomer

Fantastic birthday getaway
Great place to celebrate a birthday. The upgrade to the Royal Club was well worth the money. The food with the upgrade was fantastic and it allowed you to have a quiet start to your morning for breakfast. Also it was a great place for a snack in the late afternoon or late evening. You could always find a chair at any time of the day and the multiple pools allowed you to move location throughout the day. The spa was very nice.

Excellent Place to Stay, Staff Treats You Like Family!
Beautiful resort where the tropical jungles of the area blend almost seamlessly with majestic resort buildings. Staff always greet you kindly, even just passing by! Very willing to do whatever it takes to make your trip the most enjoyable trip possible. We enjoyed staying there while we took a day trip to the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza.

Excellent Vacation
The resort gives you the feel of the yucatan. The Mayan riuns were fantastic. The food was very good, better than other all inclusive resorts. I recommend the Cenote diving.

Amazing for the price best vacation ever
Very very clean staff very friendly and helpful beautiful beach should of been made a little bigger but there is enough space for everyone trust me lol beautiful water fish and beach food was great always difrent stuff at the buffet never the same stuff and the specialty restaurants that they give you reservations for we're amazing ..... The only downfalls to my vacation was getting there before check in not being able to goto our room and not haveing my bathing suit on to go in the water lol ..... And also having to wear pants to the reservation resturant ... I'm on vacation I packed shorts for nothing because wore pants every night other than that this resort was 5star to me I loved it and will defitnetly be returning in the future loved it and very very fun for children they will love it

Beautiful resort and Royal club was great!
I absolutely loved the royal club and glad we upgraded. We are not vacation club owners and we were never bothered onced to become one. It may have been the people just assumed we were since we stayed in that area. I do not think we would of enjoyed it as much if we did not upgrade. The drinks were stronger the food was better and service was amazing in the royal club. We went to a couple other pools and restaurants and I felt the drinks were either watered down or had no alcohol and service was slow( btw we tipped every drink and it may have made a small difference ). I felt the bartenders were over worked at some places. The food was ok outside the royal club. We love Explor and going into Playa del Carmen. The hotel grounds are beautiful and well kept I just feel if you don't upgrade you are not getting the best service...I have stayed at the Riu and service was better as well as food. I would only recommend this place if you are staying at the royal club.
