Our dream vacation
Our trip to the Occidental Grand Flamenco was truely perfect! Upon our arrival Ruth (manager on duty) was very helpful in assisting us with checking in and getting acquainted with the facility. She would even check on us from day to day to make sure our stay was what we expected. We made friends with Juan, the facility shuttle driver. He is a human encyclopedia! This guy could tell you about all the animals that roam freely about the facility and he also knew the local area quite well. If you like snorkeling please find lifeguard Emelio at the beach club. He helped us to overcome our fears of the open water and showed us wonderful sights along the corral reef that abounds with life right there at the resort! After all the snorkeling we of course needed food. And once again this resort delivered. We did not have a bad meal the entire time we were there. A waiter named Fabian at the beach club buffet provided outstanding service the seven days that we were there. We highly recommend this resort.

Resort is much too big....People are friendly but don't speak English and don't understand. Food is mediocre at best - BUFFET IS GARBAGE Pay the extra and stay at the Royal Club.....food is more palatable and rooms are lovely - lots of amenities not given at the regular hotel. Be careful not to get lost on the grounds - it's very easy to take a wrong turn!

Way above our expectations, Fantastic
We upgraded our room and were very glad we did, We received excellent service in our room and were greeted by the mgr when we arrived. The staff were all great and very friendly. The hotel is not on the main beach but has a beach cut in from the ocean which was great. The property is very well kept and the food was very good. We highly recommend this hotel. This was our first all inclusive experience and im glad it was here. We will definitely go all inclusive again.

Great Time
This Hotel and trip was one of the best vacations i have been on. Besides us having to change rooms due to them giving us 2 double beds instead of one King. The staff was amazing, the place was great and everything exspected. I love how the hotel was always upgrading to look better and better each day. Hands down I will stay here again.

Absolutely beautiful!
This resort is a hidden gem! It is like staying in a beautiful nature preserve with all the amenities of a five star resort. The pools were expansive - the adult pool was a quiet retreat on the oceanfront. The man-made beach area is a little small but it works fine for the waiters bringing you your drinks! The three tiered setting makes good use of space and the water is pretty calm in this little cove. Overall, would recommend without reservation to everyone!

Good value but far from the best
Staff are pretty nice and helpful. Beware the people trying to sell timeshares. They are everywhere and pretend to be helpful staff. Food at the buffet was eh...ok but I have had better. We also had dinner at the El Pescador, the seafood restuarant which was nice, the food was good (even though I'm not a seafood person). It was windy but at least we were outside. Good location right be the water. Our waiter was excellent. The guy who seated us however ignored us for 10 minutes which was annoying. The steakhouse (I can't remember the name) was excellent. Very good food and service and a nice atmosphere. The bartenders were great and did not skimp on booze. Good drinks overall and lots of Corona on tap. One annoying thing we learned is if you want a spot at a pool or at the lagoon, you need to get up early and drop your towels or something on them to claim them for the day. otherwise, come 10am a lot of days, good luck finding a spot. i think the hotel could have done a better job having extra lounge chairs available one they start to fill up. Another annoyance is the availability of internet access. in this day and age it should be free. Enough nickel and diming us. We were able to buy 30 minutes of Internet time on the computers in the lobby but you waste half that time because the keyboards were bizarre and you had to do weird things to get special characters like @ to appear. I tried to connect to the wifi one day and it said too many connections. Why would I pay $11 an hour if it isn't going to work?

Great Time!
This was a fun trip! My sister and I took our soon to graduate sons for a Senior trip....they had a blast...we had a blast too! Food was awesome...staff was the friendliest I have ever had! Each staff member always had a smile and cared about our stay. This was a huge complex, however, was run very well! The only down side I can think of is there was no sandy beach to walk along it was rocky...but beautiful views and great snorkeling! I would go back again for sure!

very spread out
Would not recommend this hotel to anyone who has trouble walking a lot. It is very spread out and even though they have a tram system you have a lot of walking to do and a lot of steps and ramps. No elevators in the bungalows or out buildings so request a first floor room.

Exceeded all expectations!
We found out upon check-out that we were randomly selected to receive exceptional treatment, which amounted to a private check-in with champagne & fruit and a third-floor, ocean view room that included a bottle of tequila, king bed, and daily plates of fruit, cheese, and chocolates. It sure worked, 'cause I can honestly say only positive things about this resort. Know that it is situated amongst trees and wildlife, which we loved. It is not a cookie-cutter hotel set on an expansive beach. If you want that, go to Cancun with the 20 year olds. This place was gorgeous, the buffets were more than adequate, the staff were extremely courteous and helpful. You would have to be a negative, sour crank to not enjoy this place. I definitely plan on returning.

Royal Club junior suite
We stayed in the Royal Club and it was 100% worth the upcharge. The Royal Club offered a sense of community. All the guests were nice and wanted to get to know one another. Met a lot of great people. There was always a lounge chair available for us by the pool or by the ocean. And the food at the Royal Club was awesome. We did go into the common areas of the resort. Yes, they were nice but not nearly as nice as the Royal Club.
