Great resort between Playa and Tulum

One of the largest resorts at Riviera Maya between Playa Del Carmel and Tulum. Great food, great service, great location. Only minor negative side was that room had this specific "humidity" smell. Alternatives (also large many-lobbies resorts) to consider are Barcelo and Sirens.

Very Happy

Booked this for a 4 night 5 day vacation, the beach and grounds were fantastic. My only real complaint would be that reservations for the restaurants were hard to come by.

A very good vacation!

The only thing that we could find wrong with this place is it's sheer size. But on that note the shuttles were great and took you everywhere you needed to go. This place has something for everyone! We would go again!

wonderful stay

perfect does not exist but this resort comes close. It is as close to a 5 star as can be. It is truly amazing to see everything they do every day. the food is outstanding and wonderfully presented. the beach is long, white sand and beautiful with many places to swim as they protect parts with large barriers. Plenty of palapas and chairs. tennis lessons free with Juan are great and bikes with lots of places to ride free. I can't imagine any place better.

Low key getaway

We had 7 days of great weather (2/20-2/27). Resort is nice, rooms large, beds comfortable, lots of pools, grounds well maintained. I did not like that we had no view and that the beach is only accessible by tram. That said, the trams do run often. Buffet restaurants have a lot of variety, but mostly the same choices every day, so you do get tired of the food after a week. Specialty restaurants are too hard to reserve and have slow service. We have stayed at several all-inclusive chains (RIU, Iberostar, Barcelo, Marabel, Dreams) and they are quite comparable. Only thing not quite as nice about the Principe Coba is that the ocean is not visible due to the jungle, except by a short tram ride. But overall we had a pleasant stay. This resort is fairly remote-- more than half hour to Playa del Carmen and 1 hour to Cancun. Great place to stay if you want to visit the Mayan ruins.

All I can say is WOW

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Tulum resort within Gran Bahia Principe. As soon as we entered the resort we were greeted by the smiling staff. Our room was spotless as well as everything on the resort. Their attention to detail and cleanliness is amazing. The maid decorated our room with balloons and champagne for my girlfriends birthday and always made sure we had everything we needed. The main pool on Tulum was second to none, as well as the buffet. I would definitely recommend the Brazilian restaurant. Sooo good. We stayed for a week and the trip was just too short! We will definitely be returning to this resort!

good value

Enjoyed our stay! We upgraded to the junior suite but did not realize we had our own place for breakfast and lunch until a few days in... but that upgrade for the special dining was worth it! the Brazilian specialty restaurant was the best! A bit disappointed in the seafood specialty restaurant but all in all it was still pretty good. Once you learn how to get around it all works really well! Loved the beach but bring swim shoes as out a bit in the water is a lot of coral. Also you will want to bring the little adapters for the electrical plug ins as they are reset into the wall and many chargers will not work with the reset.

Dining tip: In Hotel

If you upgrade to junior suite at Tulum then make sure to go to Tequilas for breakfast and lunch! that is the private dining area and it is way less busy than the main buffet!

Great Place

Great place. Very good location. Wonderful staff. Excellent restaurants. The hotel is very large and spread out. If you don't mind waiting 5 - 10 minutes, a cart / tram will pick you up to take you where you want to go. This was nice since my wife broke a toe a week before our trip, and could not walk very well. We'd like to return.
