Horrible vacation

My worst "All Inclusive" experience

Just to start, they have a rainbow of wrist bands and they will make sure they let you know all the things you do not have access too. Also they are part of time share, or whatever name they call it now days, so they will harass you every opportunity they can to be part of a presentation (only 90 minutes). If you ask for anything they will say yes but but nothing happened. The food is horrible and I am not asking for gourmet, just decent fresh food. I have an strong stomach, that have resisted street car food all over the world but I got food poisoned in "The mediterranean" special dinner restaurant, and when we tried to get help from the front desk to have an alka-seltser or any thing to help tame my stomach, their answer was: "Sorry you do not have Room service", so my husband walked over to the front desk, just to hear that he needed to go buy whatever I needed to the shop. Also need to remark that the beach is very far away (easy a 30 minute walk from the room) so they offer shuttle services that only go every 25 minutes and traveling with an infant made it worst, because we had to open and close the stroller to climb in them if we caught them on time. I saw ants and bugs walking freely around the buffets, you could not take food out of the restaurants, so if you wanted to eat you needed to pick up all your family and things and go to restaurant (long walk again). And to make my trip to that place any more memorable, my daughter got sick with a eruptive virus and the help from the hotel to assist me was almost none, Just a couple of employees were really helpful, but as expected, guest services came to talk to us, after I was making a big deal because I did not want to pass the virus to other guest of the hotel. I really hope that you think twice before you pick this hotel, because honestly I thought it might be that I am having bad luck, but after asking locals (and several of the employees) this is one of the worst hotels in the area. Looks awesome and their landscape is gorgeous, iguanas taking the sun everywhere you look... but don't let their mask rob you of having a good vacation.

All I can say is WOW

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Tulum resort within Gran Bahia Principe. As soon as we entered the resort we were greeted by the smiling staff. Our room was spotless as well as everything on the resort. Their attention to detail and cleanliness is amazing. The maid decorated our room with balloons and champagne for my girlfriends birthday and always made sure we had everything we needed. The main pool on Tulum was second to none, as well as the buffet. I would definitely recommend the Brazilian restaurant. Sooo good. We stayed for a week and the trip was just too short! We will definitely be returning to this resort!

Gran Bahia Principe Tulum

Very pretty resort. Buffet and A la Carte restaurants - food was Good - plenty of choices. Service was just average. Pools are very nice, but were too cold to truly enjoy - only went into pool to cool off for a minute or two. Beach is beautiful, but a lot of rocks in the sand, be careful where you walk - in and out of the water.

good value

Enjoyed our stay! We upgraded to the junior suite but did not realize we had our own place for breakfast and lunch until a few days in... but that upgrade for the special dining was worth it! the Brazilian specialty restaurant was the best! A bit disappointed in the seafood specialty restaurant but all in all it was still pretty good. Once you learn how to get around it all works really well! Loved the beach but bring swim shoes as out a bit in the water is a lot of coral. Also you will want to bring the little adapters for the electrical plug ins as they are reset into the wall and many chargers will not work with the reset.

If you upgrade to junior suite at Tulum then make sure to go to Tequilas for breakfast and lunch! that is the private dining area and it is way less busy than the main buffet!

Great Place

Great place. Very good location. Wonderful staff. Excellent restaurants. The hotel is very large and spread out. If you don't mind waiting 5 - 10 minutes, a cart / tram will pick you up to take you where you want to go. This was nice since my wife broke a toe a week before our trip, and could not walk very well. We'd like to return.

Fanastic

The whole hotel was brilliant from the staff to the food to the AI. Yes it is a huge resort but we took advantage of being able to eat in any restaurant & visit any bar. If felt like you were going out somewhere different. We could find no fault with this hotel & would return in a flash.

Great for everyone

This was the second trip to Gran Bahia Coba. We had our wedding July 31st and picked this resort because of our previous experience here. We didn't want to disappoint our guests with our choice of resort. Everything was as we remembered it. This is a great place to have a wedding. They do alot of them and have everything there that you would need. All members of the group (16) had a good time. Food was good. We would recommend Don Pablo and Tortuga for the A la Carte. Resort was clean and was constantly being maintained. Resort was at full room capacity yet didn't feel crowded. Rooms were clean and they upgraded the TV in our room on the second day to an LCD (Not all rooms had them when we left). Dont expect to get anywhere on the resort fast, it is huge. This may not be for everyone, but we liked the extra walking and exercise. We plan on going to the Riviera Maya again and this resort will be at the top of the list again. Its a great all around package.

A Great Resort...

My wife and I had visited the resort in May for our second time. Overall, the resort was great. Lots to do, the pools were great (the water was a little warm, though) and everything was very well maintained. The staff at the restraunts and buffets were excellent, very hardworking and attentive. The only negative of our trip was that I got a severe case of food poisoning and I know exactly what it was that I ate. I don't think I have ever been that sick and unfortunately it caused me to miss out on 3 full days of my stay. Be careful with the beef, my wife tried some of what I ate and ended up getting food poisoning as well but not nearly as bad as I did. That was a terrible experience that caused me to miss out on my vacation but overall the resort is a great value.

Everything and more we ever wanted!!

This complex offers the choice of three resorts wrapped up into one! What one didn't offer the other ones did. When we finally arrived to the Hotel the main lobby was full of suit cases and people were checking out new it would be a long while before getting to our room but when asked by the bellman what travel group we said and they took us to a Premier Lobby which was a faster check in! Thanks for making us a premier travel group! Your awesome. Bonnie Erskine
