This is a luxurious and beautiful resort. While the physical hotel is outstanding, it is really the outstanding service that separates Fairmont Mayakoba. Without exception, the service was attentive, comprehensive and thorough. Best of all, also without exception, the staff was extremely warm and friendly and always went the extra mile. Just a great experience.

IF YOU WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF GO HERE
EVERYTHING WAS OVER PRICED. FOOD, DRINKS, AND ALOT OF HIDDEN FEES. IF YOU CALL A CAB THEY DO NOT TELL YOU THERE IS A FEE FOR PARKING OF THE CAB. DRINKS ARE 10 DOLLARS WITH LITTLE TO NO LIQUOR. BEERS ARE 6 DOLLARS. FOOD IS JUST AS BADLY PRICED. I DO NOT MIND PAYING HIGH DOLLAR BUT AT LEAST TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS GOOD. THE BAR TENDERS AND WAITERS WERE RUDE. WAS KICKED OUT OF POOL FOR BEING TOO LOUD. NO ONE WAS LOUD. WORST VACATION EVER!!!! WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GO TO THIS RESORT. ONLY THING GOOD WAS THE OCEAN WHICH IS A MILE FROM THE HOTEL.

Superb hotel (at a price!)
We had a most spectacular stay at the Fairmont Mayakoba (came back yesterday). This upscale resort is set in a gorgeous lagoon with amazing wildlife that spreads over a very large area (but you have golf carts taking you around). The room was amazing (spacious, clean, ultra modern decor), the food excellent (at each of 3 the restaurants they have at the resort) and the service truly wonderful. You couldn't ask for more - with the exception of the price tag. It ended up costing us about $500 per day in all for 2 adults and a 10-year old. But hey, you can't get anything for free nowadays - not even in Mexico. We had a great time and will surely be back there. This resort was right up our alley- upscale, classy, relaxing... BTW, the pool by the beach is stunning.

Great family vacation
Just returned from the Fairmont Mayakoba and had a great time. The rooms, grounds, pools, and beach were all wonderful and the location was perfect too. Do not be concerned with safety - we felt safe everywhere we went on the Riviera Maya - even in the small towns and villages. A few tips: Rent a car at the airport - Its very inexpensive and gives you much freedom - again the roads are easy to drive and safe and since the food is expensive at the Fairmont, it was nice to be able to go into town for dinner. Don't miss 5th Street in Playa del Carmen - very fun and lively.

Beautiful... but be ready to spend $$
I was at Fairmont Mayakoba for a wedding and it was beautiful. The resort had a lagoon that ran throughout the entire place and had bikes, golf carts and boats to transport the guests. And believe me, to get to the beach, you are going to need it. With several pools, bars, restaurants and wildlife to explore and enjoy, we were not bored. However, I would have liked it if there was a shuttle that would also take us off the resort property.

Bring snacks for the room, as the resort fees and costs of food within the resort added up quickly. I brought some oatmeal and granola bars for an easy breakfast. It was cheap and gave me more time for the beach and pool!

Nice place
big hotel complex about 15 minute drive from playa del carmen. It's a great place if you have kids and like to golf. Only two major complaints. Limited activities in the hotel paticulary if you are active married or unmarried couple without kids. Need transportation from your room to the main lobby which can be infrequent. Also, costly to travel outside the hotel if you don't have a car.
