A relaxing treat

This was a 4 day relax vacation, that was so restful. The property is beautiful, marries nature, beach, spa, golf, and pool all in one. We stayed in a room overlooking the lagoon, which was half way between the beach and the pools and cafe. The property is so large, they have golf carts running back and forth so you can hop on and off, to get you where you want. They also, have bikes that you can use. The different wildlife, although not my focus, was really interesting... I thought the hotel was quiet, polite, and on point. My only points to be mindful of are: the spa massage I had, did not knock my socks off. (I get massages every 3 months, so I have experience) but the spa facilities were great on all fronts. The restaurants were all awarded but I wasn't I blow away, and they are New York prices. All in all, I would go there again and would recommend. You will not have to go anywhere else.

Playa - Great Golf

Beautiful place, friendly people. We enjoyed the food and service but felt like the prices were very high. Spa is especially expensive and that is perhaps why is is empty. Great choice if you love to Golf, but don't forget to bring your clubs. >$350 if you forget.....

Excellent service

This is a well-run hotel with truly excellent service. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The beach was beautiful and the food at the beach-side restaurant very good. (Try the salad nicoise--I never before had one with real -as opposed to canned- rare tuna. The pizza, however, was a little cold). The tour of the lagoon by boat was lovely and informative, and we saw lots of birds and iguanas and even two crocodiles (cocodrillas). (Book this as soon as you get there--it is hard to get a reservation.) But this type of hotel is not what I am looking for in a beach vacation. It is too big, the rooms are very far from the breach, and all that marble is intimidating. I very much enjoyed a visit to Rio Secreto--a newly-discovered water-filled cave. The tour, in wetsuits with little miners' hats, was terrific and beautiful. If I had it to do again I think I would stay in Tulum, which looked much more charming and laid-back, with some small beachfront hotels.

Much More than expected

The hotel is dream. Is the perfect hotel for a romantic first class getaway. It does not get any better. Is has three hotels in one. The Golf course is PGA approved. We went to the Banyan tree for dinner and it was superb, the music, the candles, the food from an authentic thai chef. The only comment will be to improve the music experience since you are in the mood the hotel provides you with a Bose audio system BUT the only music you can get is a taxi radio station.

Great Service

The rooms were nice and very clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The menu was very overpriced for what you get. Example, one hamburger ordered costs $26. The resort was so big that you could not walk around and the beach was a far ride through the resort. The beach area was also small. There was not a bar atmosphere to enjoy in the evenings other than the lobby and restaraunt.

Very nice beach and hotel grounds....

Our stay was very nice. They have a great beach, and lovely pools. The restaurants were good. The staff was friendly overall all though sometimes a bit slow. Great rooms and large bathrooms. We did find our balcony a bit small for a Casita room. The regular hotel rooms I believe have the same size balcony, so you might as well save money and stay in a regular room. Overall, it was a great experience and we would come back.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

If you want to go into town to Playa Del Carmen for shopping and dining it is aprrox. a 15 minute cab ride, which cost us at the time we went $15 each way.
