El Dorado Royale and Casitas Royale, A Spa Resort, Gourmet - Adults Only All Inclusive

We had a fantastic getaway. We stayed in the individual casitas and of all the casitas other than maybe the presidentials, that are the best. We had 2901 and it was perfect because it is near the only bar that is open late on the casita side, as well as the best resturant, Kampai. The food is fabulous and perfect portions. You will have to walk for most of the other restaurants and bars though if you stay in the casitas. My only 2 complaints were 1 they did not open the activities stations in the casitas area while we were there so if you wanted to snorkel you had to walk across the resort to get the equipment. We decided when we go back we will just bring our own next time. #2 is that there are some noisy gecko's that get into the thatch roof and make a chirping noise at about 5am. When we complained to our concierge Jorge he did send someone over to evict our unwelcome visitor. The 2800 up casitas have the swim up bar and I will say this was helpful for making trips to the pool bar. The beaches are reef front and not that big. This is not a swimming beach. If you want that kind of resort you will be disappointed. We loved the beach though as we didn't even have to pay for a snorkeling excursion.

WE were there late april the weather was perfect for 5 nights. The food overall was good, one or to things exceptional. The italian resteraunts were the only probs we had rissoto was undercooked and steak overcooked. 2 resteraunts were closed for renovations so I suggest to call ahead to see if that might be the case. None of the food was bad just discrepancies like i listed. our initail room was on the ground floor ocean view it was very musty but I feel in any resort in warm climate its hard to not get that on the ground floors. We were upgraded to a beautiful view, service was impecable & spa was amazing highly recomend this resort.

Everything was great at this hotel. The food, the rooms, the staff were all great. The only thing that we would like to see at these All-Inclusive resorts is to have a discount for people who don't drink.

let me start by saying we have been to this area at least ten times, always staying at top resorts. after reading reviews we went in with open mind. Unfortunately we were not greeted at entrance, even though there were plenty of workers milling around. there are no elevators at this resort, but plenty of stairs. we stayed in an average room (not casitas). room was in need of updating. i suggest you check room before you unpack, to make sure everything works properly. complex is huge so be prepared to walk to everything, or wait for shuttle. we felt the intro to complex could have been with a little more detail. everything was a haggle, example, we asked for an extra beach towel and was told only one per person, having stayed at secrets resorts, this is laughable. this resort did not have very good breakfast. lunch was ok, dinner was good (ate at italian twice). entertainment at night was less than high school musicals. bottom line, we should have gone back to secrets where you really are treated like royalty. this resort was all about rules and no can do attitudes big dissapointment for us, dont make same mistake! unless you stay at casitas, you will be dissapointed.

fantastic experience for the money. the food and drink are all top class. Could do with a better beach.

we had a great time and really enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the place. Even though the hotel was far from empty, it never felt crowded. The only times when it did feel a bit so was during meals (especially dinner): be prepared to wait 20-40 minutes before being seated at any of the restaurants. Speaking of restaurants, the food was great but, unlike those places that encourage you to gorge on overwhelming buffets, this one had sensible portions served a-la-carte, which is wonderful if you enjoy the all-inclusive concept yet don't want to put on too many extra pounds.

Just got back from the resort after a week stay. The entire property is kept immaculate. The staff is always friendly and happy to give you genuine great service.

hotel was great. food very good throughout. JoJo's was our favorite dinner place. good deal for your money and nice to not have kids around. although all-inclusive, tipping is not. 10% was recommended tip for meals/bar.

Overall the hotel was good but was over priced for what you get. The room was ok, and not anything special really. We had a Junior ocean view with no view of the ocean. We didn't get our room made up on the first day nor the bar restocked as promised. The restaurants were ok but only 2 could be considered "gormet" and those were Kampai and the Italian restaurant. Opon check in the front desk forgot to put our keys in the packet and the bellman had to go back to get them after letting us in the room. Staff was wonderful and the drinks were good. The beach was nice but not that special either.

This resort was amazing. It was so private, yet there was always a staff member willing and available to help with anything we needed.....drinks on the beach, extra sunblock, etc. Everyone was so friendly, too! We will definitely go back to this resort.
