Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa transports guests to a utopia of flourishing gardens, soft sand beaches and high-caliber accommodations. Marble flooring is soothing underfoot as you step out of the Tulum heat, while the modern Mexican hotel decor and ocean- or garden-facing rooms allow for meditative nature-watching. Rejuvenate your skin with treatments at the spa - from facials to exfoliations and massages - before sampling local Mexican dishes at El Patio, one of the hotel's exquisite restaurants. Romantic and indulgent, this resort is great for honeymooners, though the Explorer's Club ensures that little ones also have plenty to do (restrictions apply).

Not what expected

There are staff members that are trying to sell you something, and if you are given coupons for something like the spa, then they change what the coupons are for and charge you for those services at checkout. The beach is nothing like the picture. You are unable to get into the water due to all of the rocks at the waterline.

Awful. Go elsewhere.

Where to begin? We stayed at this "all-inclusive" as part of a wedding package for a good friend of ours. From the get-go, it was pretty disappointing. We typically don't travel in the all-inclusive Mexico circuit, but based on this experience, I'd rather spend money elsewhere. Firstly, upon arrival $5000 worth of camera equipment was stolen. The hotel did nothing. Absolutely nothing. Then we were "given" a USD$200 credit to our account as part of the incentive for booking through the wedding party travel agent. Of course, that was not real. We were asked to pay it all back before checking out. We spent more that $500 on activities while at the "all-inclusive". The food was bland and far below 5-star standards, and the supposed 24-hours of service had pretty ridiculous stipulations. Other issues that make for it being a gigantic rip-off - [*]. They RARELY smiled, and were hardly genuine. The room was dirty, the phone didn't work, there were tons of mosquitos already in the room, and there was blood stains on the fake marble floors. Unbelievable.

Great food, good hotel, nice beach

This was our second time at Dreams in Tulum. Last year we stayed for 4 days and this year for 7 days. The food is great and overall the hotel is very comfortable. The check-in process was annoying. We arrived at 12 and we were unable to check-in until past 4PM. The hotel kept trying to up-sell a number of things, and while there were not too pushy, we found this process mildly annoying. During our stay we visited on our own several sites and all our trips were very pleasant. The overall environment was pleasant but a little loud at times. The beach is nice, but the water was always pretty cloudy. If you have a car we suggest visiting the public beach (Playa Maya) at south of the hotel. It is a beautiful white sandy beach with clear blue water. The previous year we purchased the honey moon package (even if we were marries for almost 10 years) and we had a much better treatment, so we highly recommended purchasing that if you are planning to go as a couple.

relaxing resort

Food was outstanding, employees were extremely friendly and helpful, but beach was somewhat disappointing. Trip from airport is long. Restaurants were excellent and it was great not to have to make a reservation ahead of time. Buffet not as extensive as in some all-inclusives, but quality was a bit higher. Unfortunately, our TV did not work most of the time.

Dreams

Dreams is in nice location, food is good, but not the best. Entertainment could be a bit better, but is OK if you do not expect to do a lot of activities.

HOPE TO RETURN

This was our third time at the Dreams Tulum, which must mean we like it there. We spent all our time either walking or sitting on the beach, with occasional short spells in the sea. The older part of the hotel furthest from "activities" is the better and quieter choice, but needs renovation.

Holiday trip

This is a wonderful resort for families and couples. There are.lots of kids running around but they have their own kids club to keep them busy. The resort is large but for a resort this size feels intimate. Our room overlooked the ocean and was immaculately kept up and clean. There is lots of variety in the restaurants and the food was generally quite good. Service in the restaurants was friendly and attentive except in the Asian restaurant which was chaotic disorganized and rude.

There is not a lot of authentic Mexican wares to buy on the resort. We were disappointed not to have shopping in the near vicinity for silver jewelry or artwork.

Wonderful Holiday

This is a full service resort/spa. There isn't anything that they would not do to make your stay enjoyable. The staff are excellent , very polite and helpful. They introduce themselves and remember who you are also even thro there are several hundred rooms and guest groups. We have recommended it to friends, family and strangers already. We certainly will go back again soon!!!

STRESS RELIEF!

I would compare this trip to a cruise on land! The service was unbelievable, it was better than a cruise! You didn't have to spend a dime if you didn't want to. You could eat and drink anytime you wanted. If you want to relax, this is the way to go. There were 2 pools to hang out by or you had the ocean a few more steps away! Make sure you bring biodegradable sunscreen!!! It's expensive there!

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Before you commit to a tour for an attraction, compare the cost of going on your own or paying for a tour. The local travel agent can lead you to believe that they give the best deals when you can get the same deal by walking up to the gate on your own. Don't fly with AeroMexico!!!!!!
