Very good hotel for relaxation

Would recommend Mon, Feb 23, 2015
Everything was superb! There are not a lot of activities like in other resorts: no animation team, to nightly entertainment and such. But you do't need it here. This is a place to relax, spend very romantic time with your loved one, forget about everything. The food was very good, the service is excellent. For you the beach lovers it is not a good place. The waters are murky and not pretty. The beach itself is good: very soft and white sand, a lot of loungers, shade. But if you walk to your right to the next resort, you can get a very nice swimming. Enjoy the spa. Excellent facilities are free except the massage or rituals. Too bad that it is now divided to men and women sections. There have to family hours as a lot of people wanter to be in the sauna together with spouses.

Great Couples trip

Would recommend Wed, Jan 7, 2015
The rooms are beautiful and the staff is amazing. They will pick you up and take you anywhere on the property. The food is very good for an all inclusive property. The Spa services and pool area are both very nice.

Great Location and Food but Inconsistent Service

Would not recommend Mon, Dec 29, 2014
Great location, modern rooms, great pool setup next to the ocean, really high quality food especially the mexican/mayan dishes. The service was a little inconsistent across the board, some people were very good, and others were not. There does not seem to be centralized training and culture of customer service like you experience at other luxury brands (como, rosewood, ritz, etc.). These other brands have a culture of "customer first" and this was not evident at blue diamond. The rooms were very spread out and our location was about a half mile from the beach and they would not let us have our own bikes that were available on the property because those were reserved for "higher paying" room categories, I thought this was a little strange, and evident of the inconsistent customer service at the hotel. At other times, people would be really friendly and say they would deliver something to our room etc., but would not follow through and we would have to call back three times.

Great all inclusive resort

Would recommend Mon, Nov 17, 2014
We stayed 5 nights at the Blue Diamond. Maybe not for everyone as there are almost no activities provided and it's adults only. It is, however, a superbly run resort at a great location. Perfect beach and water, fabulous restaurants, nice rooms. The all inclusive includes all drinks and really interesting meals in the restaurants. Dining is a la carte, no buffets. Perhaps one of the best things is the staff - every single person is warm and friendly and endlessly helpful. Just a great place to stay, relax and enjoy.

Incredible!

Would recommend Mon, Dec 2, 2013
I had read countless rave reviews about this hotel and it truly exceeded expectations. We just returned after 10 days from one of the best, most relaxing vacations we've had in a while and we owe it to Blue Diamond. The staff is so nice and accommodating and the property is so beautiful and well maintained, it was easy to relax and worry about nothing. The food was well prepared, beautifully presented and delicious. We can't go wait to back!!!

Wedding & Honeymoon

Would recommend Thu, Jul 18, 2013
We were married and stayed at the Blue Diamond just recently. The hotel and grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The staff is the most warm, friendly people I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for some relaxation time.

Pros and cons

Would not recommend Tue, May 28, 2013
We stayed in the Laguna Suite for our honeymoon Pros: nice property, great food (esp the soups), service staff great, close to Playa del Carmen and Cancun, exclusive, quiet, the grounds are gorgeous Cons: the room was hot (esp the bathroom)-we had to have 2 fans brought in; the property is very spread out- need golf carts or bikes to get to various locations in the property My biggest complaint concerns booking excursions. We booked our trip through United vacations, and my husband pre-paid for a tour to Chichen Itza through Trafictours. The young lady at the front desk saw our paperwork when we checked in and knew this (Adriana). She told us that we had a meeting to schedule that excursion p,us any additional excursions the next day at 1115am. We went to concierge where Omar helped us. In addition, there was a representative from another tour company there-Julio. They all knew we had already paid for one tour. We told them multiple times that we needed to speak with someone from Trafictours. Finally Omar called and said the representative from Trafictours would meet us in 20 minutes. Almost 3 hours later, no one showed up so we had to book tours through Julio, including the Chichen Itza tour. As soon as we return to our room, we got a call from the Trafictours representative who was waiting in hotel lobby the whole time. Apparently, tour guides from outside companies are not allowed inside the property or at the hospitality/concierge area where we were waiting. Omar and Julio knew this but never told us that he was waiting in the lobby. This ultimately took 4 hours out if our day. For me, dishonesty and trying to make money at the guests expense took away from the whole experience. I have traveled the world and knowing that I am protected by the very place I chose to stay is very important. The actions of 3 staff cast a cloud on every service person there.

Great for couples but food needs to be improved.

Would not recommend Mon, Nov 19, 2012
We stayed for 10 nights in early November 2012. The hotel is situated 40 minutes from Cancun airport and is in a good location for visiting the shops and bars of Playa Del Carmen and the archeological sites at Tulum and Chichen Itza. The hotel is low rise set around streams and lagoons and provides privacy from neighbouring rooms by lush planting. The beach is clean and well equipped with sun beds and umbrellas however in peak season, these may be in short supply. The rooms are large and nicely furnished and very clean. The food offering is what lets down this resort. There are only two restaurants which are not always both open. The choice and quality of food on offer is quite poor - for eaxmple there was no change in the choice of 3 main courses during our 10 nights and food arrived almost cold and inedible in the main restaurant. However if this were to be improved the resort would offer much better value for money (as it is all inclusive) and would be a great place to stay.

Dining

I would wholeheartedly recommend this resort IF there was a significant improvement in the quality of food.
