The food at some of the restaurants need great improvement and so does the hotels method of booking reservations.

The hotel shopping was really great. They had better prices than Playa del Carmen. We took advantage of their shuttle service to Playa del Carmen.

Perfect Family Vacation
This was a great hotel to take the family. The staff were second to none. The food was great. The rooms were very clean. The Hotel was really comfortable with great free entertainment. If you are looking for snorkeling adventures, you won't find it at the shoreline at this hotel or at 98% of other hotels in the Maya Riviera. You really need to go on tours for that. No joke. Overall, would recommend Blue Bay Grand Esmerelda Hotel to families. If you are a party person, go to Cancun, that's where all the action is.

Wonderful !!!
Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda was really fantastic. I usually dont write any comments only when its really great or when its really bad. In this case it was Fantastic ! It was my first time in Mexico with my Mom and it couldn't be better. The staff were extremely nice and extremely helpful. The hotel has everything you would expect from a 5 star resort. The food was great, the rooms were a great size pool area was beutiful and they are fairly eco friend has they have tried to preverse some of the mangroves around the area so you might see so native wildlife. The only down side was that the beaches aren't that nice as they are around a mangrove area even if you see the staff constanly cleaning the beach. For breath taking beach go to Tulum! As for advise, try to get reservation for their restaurant just to give you a another experience than the buffet which also great but a nice sit down dinner is better. Cant wait for my next vacation in which I will be returning to BBGE :)

As for advise, I would recommend to rent a car since it a bit far from the airport and its great to visit Playa del Carmen, Cenotes and other Mayan ruins around the area.

Great Vacation

Great Vacation
We stayed there Dec 17 - 27 and had a wonderful time. Restaurants are great, pool is nice and big, beach was wonderful and rooms were clean and comfortable. The resort is VERY big so if you have trouble walking don't go here; if you have a room near the beach you have to walk everynight up to lobby area for restaunrants and entertainment and if you have a room up by the lobby you have to walk to the beach and pool everyday. They do have trollies but not as often as you'd hope. The spa was awesome, would go back there for sure! Steak and seafood restaurant were our favourite. there is a language barrier with cleaners so if you have questions about anything ask your building concierge. Buliding 4 &5 is here you want to be! Steps to the beach :) would go back for sure

My vacations new year 2011-2012
It have been the best vacations my family and I have had, excellent food,drinks with a lot of choice, entretainment was outstanding with shows and live music, room confort perfect and cleanliess excellent which included arrengemnts made with towels and flowers that are masterpieces, it is also a hotel very safe, my congratulations for all the staff for the quality of their service. It is well located close to parks such as Xplore, Xcaret and Rio Secreto. Without any doubt I recommend this hotel.

There are many tours for choosing you may buy at the hotel at the same price I would recommend, Xcaret and Rio secreto. The prices are exactly the same or even better since descounts apply for groups over 4 people, it is safe and includes transportation from/ to the hotel.

Awesome Family Trip
This was my second visit to Blue Bay and I left extremly pleased once again. The resort has everything you need - well maybe a swim up bar! - great staff, amazing food, clean rooms and they are always there to fulfill any request! I recommended this hotel to a friend of mine, she loved it as much as me and has been back twice since. GREAT RESORT!
