Great resort for the money
We arrived November 8th through November 17th and enjoyed every moment of our stay at Blue Bay Esmeralda Resort The service was five star and the room was just beautiful and clean. The food was such a variety. From surf and turf to mussels. Just really a relaxing and stress free vacation! Would go back in a heart beat!

WEDDING PARTY OF 26
Nov 6-15th we took 26 guests to BBGE. Overall the trip was fabulous. The hotel was beautiful, the staff (other than the front desk) was great. The pools were clean, the beach was combed daily. The food in the buffets was always fresh & plenty of it. The Steak House & Italian were our favorites. Daily & evening entertainment was fun. The best part of BBGE was the wait staff & bartenders. We were a large party group & tipped them well every time. They sing, dance & kept the party going all day long. Also us newlyweds used the Spa & Salon. Gina did my hair & makeup for the wedding & it was stunning. Just what I wanted. We also got massages the day after the wedding; they are very relaxing & enjoyable. Highly recommend using the spa on cloudy or cool days. The rooms were comfortable, you don't spend much time in them, but they were clean, modern & each offers a safe to lock your valuables in which was very comforting. All in all this was certainly a trip of a lifetime. We will be planning our return trip soon. Thank you Blue Bay Grand for the great memories made. Happy Newlyweds =)

Aqua Inn offers adventures for reasonable prices. They are located on the resort next to the main pool. "Smiley" booked an all day excursion for 18 of our wedding party for $89. We got to snorkel, shop on a semi-virgin island, lunch and of coarse drink & dance all day out at sea on a sailboat. Great experience. Recommended if you are staying 5 days or more, because you will want to go off the resort & do something during your stay.

OK
OK hotel, but no more. Clean, food alright, although you should try to always eat in the restaurants, which are better than the buffet.

Forget about O-rbitz G-rey L-ine airport shuttle, they pick you up almost 5h before your flight. We ended up waiting almost 4h for our flight at the airport. Take a taxi, it's only a couple of buck more (and lot less if you are more than 1 in your party)

Not a 5* more like a 3*
Lets start by saying and letting people know that this had not been the first time to travel, we have been 4 times to Dominican Republic, and 4 times to Mexico, staying at all-inclusive resorts. This resort is not a 5 star resort by any means; it is more like a 3 star. Check in: we had to wait about 1 hour for our rooms to get done, in the mean time we went to the buffet. There were 5 of us traveling with 2 rooms. Rooms: They were going to put us in building 1 but I asked to be moved to building 5 since I heard it was close to the beach and pool and that means less mosquitos (from other reviews we read). They have moved us but our rooms were not close at all. Our room was 5436 with double beds and somewhat had a view of the ocean/pool which we did not ask for. My parents were in room 5405 which they had a king bed and view of the swamp/garden. Rooms were always cleaned/super cleaned and no complains about the rooms. Restaurants/Buffet: We only ate at the Italian, and it was ok, good food but small quantity. Buffet, there is only one opened even if there are 2 buffets at the resort. They had ok food, we were there for 10days so we got tired of the same food, and not too many to choose from. My son 4 years old had a hard time with food, all he ate was eggs, pasta and soups, very limited for kids. You can still find something to eat if you aren't a picky eater. Pools: Water was always cold and that’s probably because out of 10 days, 7 days we had rain. Always clean and had plenty of chairs, but that’s because there weren't many people at the resort. We traveled Oct.25th through Nov.3rd and that’s when hurricane Rina decided to form. Our vacation was ruined by all the rain but that’s not up to us. Also it would have been nice if the resort has a Jacuzzi, many other resorts have them but this one doesn't. Bars: Only 2 bars for the entire resort, swing bar and sports bar. NOOOO swim up bar, which was very disappointing, what resort does not have a swim up bar, really. Resort: Resort in general was very well kept, clean and don't have anything to complain about the resort itself. Staff: No complain, they are nice hard working people that deserve to get tips even if it is an all-inclusive resort. They don't get paid much and they work very hard so tip them. Ocean: Very, very, very disappointing. Sand bags put everywhere, not because of the hurricane, they have these sand bags year round and it ruins the aspect of the beach. Water very murky and lots of rocks, again not a fault of the hurricane that’s just the way it is. This is where this resort gets only a 3 star instead of 5 because of the beach. All in all it was an ok vacation, we got away from Michigan but we could have had a lot better even for the money that we have paid. I would not recommend this resort, find something better.

ONE YEAR ANNIVERSERY
If you are looking for entertainment, this is the place to go. They have activities from early morning to late at night. The food is delicious and the pool area is very comforable. One negative thing is that they have tile in the halls which magnifies any nose outside of room and makes it difficult to sleep in especially if you're a lite sleeper.

Best Vacation I've ever had!
The BBGE was amazing. My wife and I went for our 5th year wedding anniv. and we could not have had a better experience. We stayed in a swim-up suite, and the room was spacious (two bathrooms, flat screen TVs, and king size bed). Our private pool outside the suite was 4 feet deep and a great way to relax. The food was amazing, except for the oriental restaurant which wasn't great. The staff did not stop working and were very helpful. The only downside to this resort is for anyone who goes on vacation purely for the ocean itself. I like to walk by the ocean occasionally but would rather be by the pool and the bar. The ocean at BBGE is only a small area and it is filled with seaweed. This probably was because of the location of the hotel and not because of the quality of the hotel. I didn't really care about this, but if you are a fan of going into the ocean everyday, that would be the only reason not to try the BBGE. We went snorkeling through "Aquatic Expeditions by Emilio". If you want to see Mexico outside of the resort, I would recommend this excursion. We ate at a local restaurant, and Emilio was the most insightful tour guide we have ever had. I would highly recommend this excursion and resort and look forward to returning in the future.
