Barcelo Riviera Maya All Inclusive Complex

There were two families in our group with four children ranging from 8 to 15. Everybody had a blast. There are five resorts combine so there were plenty of room to roam around. Our kids enjoyed wind-surfing, archering, snorkerling, and diving. The restaurant's food were delicious. They served lobster, jumbo shrimp, baby-back ribs, and steak. We have traveled to many resorts before, and so far this resort was the best. The staffs were helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and spotless. The resort was beautiful and maintained very well.

Good except when exchanging money the desk two days later accused me of not giving them the american money and deactivated my key card to room. As this was all a mistake on their part, their mistake was rectified and an apology was given. Then on day of return to states, the tour line conveniently forgot me and my friends traveling with me and had to arrange for taxi service, which they paid for as it was again their mistake. This resort was more than wonderful as far as the vacation and beautiful with immenities abound, and even though we were afraid of missing our flight of which we did make, we would come to this resort again. My friends and I were immensely impressed and enjoyed ourselves. We will be back maybe next year or so, but we will be back and recommend this place to others.

We were here for my daughters wedding and the hotel staff did a great job helping us put it all together. The food at the buffet was not as good as I would have liked but the service was great and the drinks never stopped flowing.

When we arrived to Carribe hotel it was abandoned. We were never told that we were moved to Tropical, another hotel within the same complex. The front desk employees were not very friendly upon arrival and never apologized for the inconvenience. Upon check-out they were more concerned with cutting off our wristbands than how our stay was. Some of the food and beer spoiled. This might have been due to a low guest turnout due to the Swine Flu scare. Wife and I always had upset stomachs. The sushi on the last night sent me home with an extreme case of diarrhea. The bartenders at pool bars had attitudes. The pools were very nice though and huge. The cleaning crew was nice and kept the room clean. The activity planners were extremely nice. The kids splash pads were awesome and could see taking my kids there in the future. I would recommend waiting another year while tourists return from the swine flew scare. Maybe they will have gone through all the spoiled food and beer by then. And exchange dollars for pesos when you arrive. You won't get ripped off as much. The exchange rate was always fluctuating from store to store even though the official rates were pretty consistent the whole time we were there.

Hotel is beautiful, Very open common areas, great pool plenty to see and do for everyone. I will be back soon.

Stayed on the resort. Food was average

We took advantage of the swine flu sale prices otherwise we probably could not have afforded this vacation. The Barcelo is a great place but missed the mark in a few important areas. At check-in our air conditioning was not working. The guy at the front desk said they would look for another room and call us back. Maintenance fixed it in about an hour, around 11pm. The front desk did call us back but they had not looked for another room and by then our 5 year old had fallen asleep on one of the couches and we were so tired we did not feel like moving him or us. The concierge at the Palace was also not so great. Her first response was "all full" every time we went to make dinner reservations. After asking some more she would magically find something available for the same time at the same restaurant. We found this odd since the restaurants were only half full. Marenostrum was ok, the Caribe, Brazilian and French restaurants were quite good though not outstanding in my opinion. *ALL* the other staff were excellent and we have nothing but praises for the kids club staff. We had some noise issues the last couple nights as well. The beginning of June is probably not the greatest time for a family vacation. Too many high school and college grads and wedding parties. There is only one dance club at this resort so I'm not sure why they chose it. Other places seem much better suited for partying with other comparable amenities. We took the Tulum/Xel Ha tour. Each requires a little more time than the tour allows. Another hour at each would be about right. I would recommend going on your own if possible.

This is a beautiful resort and was worth every penny. The pools are large, there is plenty of sandy beach and some decent snorkeling off the dock. We saw a turtle, an eel and a sting ray while snorkeling there. The service was excellent; the staff is friendly and happy to accommodate. There was an expansive variety of food and although there was some stuff that wasn't so tasty, other dishes were excellent. There are also plenty of activities, but we were content with the pool and beach. We look forward to returning.

We planned this trip to just hang out and relax. It was beautiful and the staff was awsome! The best thing about the trip by far was our snorkel swim. My husband and I swam out just a little ways from the beach. We saw sea turtles, rays, crab and a ton of different kinds of fish and coral. We can't wait to go back. We did up grade to the Barcelo Place, which was totaly worth every penny! The food was great added bonus.
