Barcelo Riviera Maya All Inclusive Complex

There were 10 of us vacationing together from NY and PA. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The food in the buffet was good, something different all the time. We only tried the seafood place, (went away hungry) and the steakhouse which was very good from the specialty places. We had a great time at the pool bars, Tropical and Colonial, The bartenders were great, very good with the guest, especially Mario and A. Soliz (can't say or spell his first name.) The people on vacation there were very friendly and we had a great time with them- from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Nova Scotia.

This was a very nice hotel. The picture of the pools describes exactly what the complex looked like. The food was good. The rooms were very clean and the staff were there to help us if we needed anything. Nice relaxing week....

A wonderful vacation, everything went very well, our Barcelo room was clean and comfortable, the staff were helpful and made our stay perfect. It was so stress free.

We stayed 7-nights on the Tropical side. We like to go snorkeling and bring our own equipment and were pleasantly surprised by the sea life we seen at the resort. We saw Turtles,small and large Stingrays, and all types of fish,(you wont be disappointed). We didn't try any of the specialty restaurants, so we cant comment on them.The buffets were okay, and you wont go hungry. The only compliant would be the beds are very hard, and the pillows aren't very comfortable. I would recommend this resort, for the price it was good.

This is our second time at the Barcelo Maya Palace. We first went when our daughter was nine months and this trip she was almost 4. The years between we stayed at two different Ritz Carlton Properties. I choose to go back to Barcelo because the grounds are amazingly clean, quiet and beautiful with plenty of relaxation and activities. The restaurants at Barcelo are terrible BUT... the buffets have many "made to order" stations where you can get a piece of grilled fish and veggies, chicken, or steak. They also have a pasta station, the most amazing smoked salmon, Juicing stations, crepe stations, taco stations, etc... The made to order food is good and fresh and everyone can get exactly what they want to eat. The buffets are clean (and I am extremely picky). The fruit was amazing too. The pool is gigantic and clean with a kids section and quieter sections. Although the hotel was at capacity when we were there we were always able to secure a cabana that provided a "home base" and shade. The ocean/beach is amazing at this resort. You can walk out forever and still see the bottom. They sell fish food so my daughter spent hours each day feeding the fish and watching hundreds of tropical fish swim all around her. The Palace is well worth the extra cost. Everything there looks fresher and feels a little more luxurious. Aside from the restaurants I would give this place 5 stars only because there are plenty of fresh options at the buffet. Last word...the service was incredible.

We've stayed at the Barcelo resort 5 times. Have always chosen the Caribe due to the better/best beach area but got upgraded to the Colonial. ROOMS: always clean. FOOD: Buffets are good and lots to choose from. Make reservations for restaurants right away as everyone has stated. SHOPPING: Many shops on the grounds but you can take a van to Playa del Carmen for $3 p/person and really shop! GROUNDS: The most beautiful grounds, well manicured. STAFF: Always friendly but can be on the slow-moving side when you need something. Tip, they really do work hard and long hours. We love this resort & won't go anywhere else.

Very GOOD experience. The food was GREAT and the the drinks good except the red and white house (no charge) wine was horrible. The beach was very nice and the staff helpfull.

My husband and I enjoyed our 5 day vacation to the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort. The buffet was good, the grounds were BEAUTIFUL, the rooms were clean, and there were lots of activities to do. I am planning a trip back in the summer. Going to try Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe.

Location was great. Staff was ok. Food was ok. Be sure to book your meals to restaurants the day you arrive. We only ended up getting to eat at one of them because we book too late (second day we were there). The reservations were already taken by other guests.

Beautiful grounds, friendly staff. Great snorkling. Refused to accomodate party of 12 sitting together at B-day dinner for my niece; but otherwise a wonderful vacation.
