We have visited the Palace for a week for the past five years. It is the ultimate relax resort for us. We have been there during winter school vacations and in the off-season months. The resort is large enough to make the other guests disappear. The breakfast buffets, beachside grills, dinner buffets, and the 11 reservation restaurants are all top notch. Our 2 teenage boys enjoy the wide assortment of resort activities. Local sight-seeing trips are a must.

Family trip
Extremely beautiful property, but most rooms are quite a walk to the restaurants, pools, or the beach. The beach is beautiful. Food is very good, with a large variety for each taste. Very dissapointed with the towel service. Will definitely consider returning - good value for the money.

The Murph's
Beautiful beach and snorkeling
We have stayed at this hotel numerous times. If you want a gorgeous beach and great snorkeling this is the place. There are tons of different fish and turtles. The hotel is beautiful, but huge. Lots of walking to get places. It's a family friendly resort and not really a party hotspot. If you are looking for wild night life this isn't the hotel for you. We love the food choices, service and clean facilities. It's a great choice!

Aktun-Chen Indiana Joes park is an awesome excursion. It. Includes a cave tour, zip lines, and snorkeling in an underground cenote. Staff there was super fun and friendly. My whole family loved it!

Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe - October 2012
This was our 3rd trip in 5 yrs to the Barcelo Palace and as always it was fantastic !! We did however notice a few differences this trip......The Coco bar had a horrible bartender that seemed to only care about hot chicks with big boobs and the rest of us just had to wait for service and poorly made drinks. No worries, it is a vacation of a lifetime and Ulysses at the adult pool bar is so good we didn't even visit the Coco Bar !!!!! The beds could be softer, but again, it's a vacation and everything else was perfect.

Don't spend the extra for Club Premium....the only differences are wi-fi internet and ocean front room. How often are you in your room, really? and you can use your coupons you get at check-in if you need internet.

Wonderful!!
We went with some friends who had been to this resort before. We had a blast. Our expectations were exceeded. Suggestions: Take your own big cup for drinks so you don't have to take as many trips to the bar. We took Turvis cups and they worked perfectly! Take lots of dollar bills to tip, the staff is wonderful. We went to the Puerta Adventurus to swim with the dolphins. We booked directly through them and 1 week in advance and got 2 for 1 deal! Research excursions before you get to the resort. The food at the resort is EXCELLENT!!! Favorites are the French restaurant and the Japanese Hibachi. We went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon a year ago and this was much better!! We WILL be back!

Research excursions well ahead of time. We booked ours the week ahead directly through the excursion company and got a 2 for 1 deal. In the hotel it would have been almost twice as much.

Buffet Closed at palace Why pay more
For 2 nights all the Buffet at the bacelo palace were closed we had to go to the colonial to eat.why pay more.it was the same in the afternoon the pool buffet was closed .It is off season then they should tell you that all the amenitys are not open.
