As of February, 2012 our facilities now offer a new Clothing Optional area for those who prefer to tan and/or relax 'au naturel' at our luxury all inclusive gay resort.
The comfort and elegance of the hotel is by no means compromised by this new facility. On the contrary! After ling consideration of our guest's requests regarding this new option, we have found a perfect balance to offer this providing privancy for those who wish to use this area by setting up a small fene made out of 'huano' (like palapa) that blends in with our ecoenviroment, herewith respecting those guest that might feel offended by nudity.
It is also important to mention that nudity in any other public area of the resort is not allowed, except for this area that is located on the oceanfront Caleta (our manmade beach) with an amazing view of the beautiful Caribbean Sea.

Beautiful Resort
The Adonis is one of the most beautiful resorts in Tulum. I spent most days relaxing in the sun by the ocean or the pool. However, the food left much to be desired.

Pretty nice if you want a resort feel and not the Tulum cabana feel
This place is good if you like the resort feel. The rooms are very big, modern and clean. There is no access to the beach though which is very annoying to me. The food while it is included in the price - it is not that good. Lots of microwave food... While it advertises itself as a gay resort - it barely has any gay men en masse like one would imagine if this hotel was located in Cancun or Playa del Carmen. I think its suitable for straight families too. It is very safe and you will feel like you have the place all to yourself. Advice: Get up early (7am) and get the free bikes provided at the guard's desk and bike to the Tulum ruins- you will beat the crowds - trust me. There is nothing like it... bring your beach stuff cause there is swimming to be had :)

Long walk from hotel
Get up early at 7am to get the free bikes at the guard's desk to bike to the tulum ruins before all the tour buses get there. it is totally awesome. you will have the ruins to yourself for about 1 hour then once the crowds arrive, move down the stairs to the beach for some swimming while staring at the ruins high above you.

Totally disapointed
My 6 nights were a total disapointment at this resort. The rooms were great and spacious, the staff tried to accomodate you and was friendly, they got your request correct 50% of the time. If it werent for some of the awsum fun people we met it would have been a total disapointment. The 3 restaurants and the all inclusive food plan was totally unacceptable. The first night we went for mexican, there was nothing mexican on the menu. The second night the restaurants were closed and they offered a buffet. The 3rd night they again made their own agenda with no menu available at 6 pm when the restaurant opened at 6pm. At 630 they finally offered 3 choices in celebration of the mexican halloween. Ok so the next morning I call room service 5 times to get breakfast and they never answered so i had to go out to the retaurant,. 3 days at 1030 am they had no bacon. Ok enough of the food it was totally not what I paid for. Room service gave you new towels and made the bed they cleaned nothing, they did not refill our mini bar until we asked. We went to use our jacuzzi and the drain was broken, we had to have maintenance come and repair it. Our tv remote had to be replaced 2 times. There was four outdoor jacuzzis at any given day 1 was hot, the last 3 days they were broken, they did not have the part to replace it. The last day after me complaining a manager came and talked to us, he offered us a room upgrade, we did not accept it as it would be more of an inconvenience to pack up and move for 1 day. They gave us a bottle of champagne in our room ... whoopie.@@!? the staff is 99% straight. The drinks sucked ok enough... dont go with high expectations.

Close to paradise
Spent there 6 days last week of August. As the one only all-inclusive resort this place is amazing! Let's start with great things: 1. Amazing location - resort is located in Tulum (1hr 20 mins private shuttle from Cancun airport) A. Great beaches 5-10 minutes away B. beaches are most beautiful of many Mexican locations we traveled to C. I'm a beach lover and these beaches won my heart! 2. Food is good unless you looking for chef Gordon Ramsey restaurant but always tasty and served with high quality 3. Rooms are large and always clean. If I was satisfied with Parthenon suite I can only imagine how great other rooms are 4. Couples can spent amazing time there. Good mix of people to mingle with, nice Infiniti pool, volleyball court close to the pool. 5. Singles can find international mix of people to chat with or spend nice quiet time by the pool or beach 6. Staff is mostly straight but very very friendly and very accommodating 7. Clothing optional "beach". Resort does not have direct access to the beach but has "beach-like" clothing optimal area right on the cliff. Bad things: 1. Better advertisement so more gay people could find out about this resort 2. Still working on landscape but no complaints there it is kept up well, clean. 3. Staff should be attentive by the pool all day long (maybe short staffed due to low occupancy the week we were there) Overall: We are going back there in 2 months. This is how much we liked it. Great place with extremely high potential for LGBT community. Will make sure more our friends go there to check it out. Of course there will always be people disappointed with many things - it all depends what you are looking for. It's better to go to this resort to relax than going to other resorts nearby. Adonis gives you feeling of safe and you can be who you are. Nobody who stay there will be judging you. Go, relax, have fun and enjoy the most beautiful beaches of Mexico! We also learned Tulum is getting International Airport next year. It will be even easier to get there! Resort provides bikes so you can bike to beaches and supermarket :) I loved it there and going back!!!

Great hotel for Gay couples!!!
Great hotel, i went with my boyfriend and we had a great time. this is def. a hotel for gay couples! everyone at the hotel was extremely nice and accomodating, food was great (at night eat at the mexican restaurant, the asian and italian are NOT that great). Overall we had a great time, beautiful hotel, we'll def. go back. The hotel will give you bikes to go to the beach - its a fun ride (Bikes could def. use some TLC). J&B

Amazing place and great staff!
Highly recommended!!!!! we were there for 3 nights in a partial ocean view room in beginning of may. the grounds are gorgeous! the pool is huge! the beach is a short walk away, or even shorter free bike ride. the ruins are a 10 minute bike ride away. large iguanas walking everywhere, be careful not to step on them. the food was great; breakfast, lunch, and dinner. the staff couldnt have been nicer! the staff really made it an amazing vacation. they tended to every need and made sure we had drinks and food at all times. we cant wait to stay at adonis again!!!

Worth checking out....
I wasn't sure what to expect heading to the Adonis but by the end of my five day stay it was what the doctor ordered. This place is a welcoming retreat for gay couples looking for an intimate setting or singles looking to meet new friends. During my stay, I met people from all over the world and it was a great experience overall. The resort is small and there wasn't a large crowd of people there, which was great for me. You have a club that you can go hang out every night from 10p-2am and from my opinion, one of the best spas in the world. All of the staff was more than appeasing for your food and drink request, regardless of your location on the premises. NOW, there are a few things the Adonis could improve on, one is dining. Like some of the reviews in the past, there really is one menu for "three" restaurants. which are divided by 10ft scrolls, Downstairs is where you have breakfast and lunch and don't be afraid to ask for something that might not be on a menu. They really can cater to your appetite as long as don't get crazy for the requests. Activities is another area they could work on as well that would make this a well rounded resort. More knowledge of daily tours, on site gaming and themed events for singles and couples are just a few suggestions. Finally, travel, just be aware that you are almost two hrs away from the Cancun airport (via shuttle). It's a straight run if you decide to rent a car. Something that I suggest and will definitely do for the next visit.

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our week at Adonis was beyond our expectations. The rooms, staff, and location were incredible. We met some great people and we all hope to return the following year. It's perfect if you're looking for a quiet and relaxing spot to do nothing. You can also venture out to the beaches and ruins if you need a rest from resting. We loved every minute of it!!

Beautiful potential but 1 to 2 star service drags down the experience...
We recently returned from a week at Adonis Tulum starting on New Years Eve. We are a gay male couple and we traveled with a lesbian couple - we liked that the resort is gay friendly but mixed with singles and straight couples and we felt totally comfortable. The first part of the stay started with the hotel trying to charge again for the booking already paid online and it took getting a manager to reverse the charges and 15 minutes to convince them that yes, we actually had already paid. We paid extra for the ocean view suite and were put in a garden view suite "because they were fully booked" - I complained and asked to be moved and we were assured we would get the type of room we booked in 1 or 2 days. I left feeling okay about the discussion and was assured that we would be taken care of the next day. The rooms on the first night were not clean and had been stripped (by the previous guests I assume) of remote batteries, hangers, soaps, mini-bar and it wasn't very clean. We were very dissatisfied but decided to make the best of it and go to dinner. Well - it got worse from there. 2 examples: 1) It took over an hour to get dinner the first night - no one was around to even tell us what was available and what their special plan for dinner was... 2) At breakfast the first morning - it actually took 30 minutes to get coffee in a cup and another 15 to get milk for the coffee - the wait staff are completely untrained in how to provide basic meal service - they try hard and are nice, but poor training and management is obvious. In general, the take away was similar service the rest of the week, including flat out lies by the front desk about our room booking that required some strong arguing and resulted in a general attitude for the rest of the stay by Saul, the desk manager, is that there is TERRIBLE management and little hospitality training for the very nice staff. The people are great, they just aren't equipped with strong and experienced managers who can teach them to deliver great service. Until management changes - Adonis will really struggle and we can't recommend it. We would love to return, but until some major changes occur to train the well meaning and generally hard working staff (efficiency, process etc.) this will be no where near a 4 star. The management and service just drags it down unfortunately. I hope they figure it out because the locations, rooms and most of the staff are well meaning and try hard. Hope to hear some managers get replaced soon and Adonis can live up to the clear potential.

Surprisingly we were pleased with most of the food - more choice would be great but the quality and taste were surprisingly good. Go elsewhere for cocktails at night - the bar is weak with no atmosphere...

Not "all gay" hotel
As beautiful as this resort is...it is not all gay...most staff is straight..straight guests there as well...which is ok...just don't call it "Gay" hotel...don't think they don't know how to market/cater to gay clientle...it is run like a straight resort with a few gay people hanging around.
