Money Trap
If you are considering staying with Villa del Palmar-be prepared to pay the price. First,They charge for everything- 1)a daily tip (whether you buy anything or not - it is added on), 2) pool towels (cruddy blue towels)which they will assume you lost and charge you $53 to replace. Then any time you use the money exchange - they charge $4, $5 or $6 depending on their whim and you were never informed they charged for the service besides having the worst exchange rate. Secondly, the Time share pressure sales job right at the entry. Before you have a chance - bang, you are routed to a sales desk. You can barely escape. Lastly, be prepared for the most pathetic service staff you have ever seen. The front desk personnel roll their eyes at anything you try to discuss with them and the answer is always - I have to talk to the manager - who, by the way, is never around. Try to avoid this place if you want a good Mexician experience and a place that appreciates you not just your money. The rooms are nice and clean but the experience is painful.

Horrible Customer Service
The hotel was nice but the customer service was terrible. The hotel was right off the beach and the swimming pools were perfect for laying out.

Disappointed Houstonian
Hotel not in service, but books anyway
The hotel goes ahead and books reservations even though it is not even in service. When we got there, they told us that our hotel is being renovated and is not open to the public. They put us in the next door hotel that is part of the same chain, but a lot older and not to the standard of accommodations that we expected with the original hotel we booked. Not fair that they show pictures of a very nice resort when you make the reservations, but when you get there you see a way different scene because the one they showed you in the pictures is not open to the public. They offered to take us to the other Villa del Palmar in Nuevo Vallarta, but it is way too far from the City and the rest of our family. We were dissapointed because we expected to get what we booked and paid for, but instead we were stock at a lower rated older small hotel that was not in front of the beach. Very unfair and deceitful from Villas del Palmar.

Ripped Off in Mexico
Lied to and cheated
We arrived in Mexico and were taken to our hotel. It wasnot even the Hotel we booked. We were taken to another very cheap run down hotel. The hotel staff tried to lie to us and tell us is was the same hotel. My wife's family is from Puerto Vallarta, so we are not so easily fooled. [...]We were forced under duress to move to a hotel in another Mexican State. many miles from my wifes family and were forced to spend our vaction budget on taxi fare. It was a complete rip-off and scam. The hotel shows you pictures of wonderful rooms and resorts. These resorts are closed and them move you to the Mexican verson of motel 6 and try to tell you how lucky you are to even have a room .[...]Beware!!!!!!!!

Ms. Headache
Construction Wake Up Call
Puerto Vallarta is in major need for tourists and they make that very clear. Random locals everywhere came up to us to ask us about buying a time share "play the game" as they put it. The presentations were said to last 90 minutes but wound up taking all day and the people were very rude and pushy about us buying. From the second we arrived to the airport to the hotel staff to walking in town...people were bugging us about money. ALSO the hotel we stayed at was under construction...they should not have had guests the week we were there because the pool was not open, people making loud noises outside out room late at night and extremely early in the morning when you want to relax. The staff was not nice or accommodating about the situation. [...] I still do not know who was at fault, but we had no clue until we arrived and it was too late!!!!

Frequent Visitor to PV
Not a Pleasant 3 days
I had to change rooms 3 times and spend 12 hours trying to get the type of room that I asked for. No attention was placed on the type of room I requested until insisted on (They gave me a view of the street and TWO beds instead of one until requesting change)). After changed, the TV didn't work until repaired. AND I missed a whole day of activities with someone because the phone was out of order (only realized when the person calling later said that they called and the phone rang off the hook ... it was repaired later that day). I hated getting hammered after check-in by staff trying to coerce me in to a Time-Share purchase (I was told I'd get some benefits (20% off food /drinks and other amenities - WOW) and maybe even a better room if I promised to attend at their other TS Briefing the next day). The are much better and more quaint places to stay unless you like the institutional type of place this is.

Sightseeing tip:
In Hotel
Entertainment, Nightlife and Activities in PV are endless and great. But only experience can tell you the best places to go or the best people to purchase them from. The worst places to purchse them from are from the vendors who try to sell them to you as you exit the Baggage Area of the Airport and the people who try to make it so convenient for you at the Hotel Check-in. You can usually make much better deals elsewhere (despite their insistence)

Will never return.
This was the worse trip that I have ever taken and I travel 3-4 times a year. I will never return. I used my credit card to pay for two transactons (drinks or dinner); was asked for my credit card and license ID. Neither card was returned to me. When I asked about my cards they said they knew nothing. Front desk said that I probably mislaid it. They made absolutely NO effort to help me get in contact with the U.S. to cancel my credit card. They all said--"we know nothing" and even the manager on the day staff sent me three blocks down the street to buy phone cards and use the pay phones on the street. I will NEVER return to their facility. Questions went unanswered or we were passed around to other staffers for help or lack thereof.

Long walk from hotel
I spent most of my time on beach or in Old Town, rather than stay at the hotel. They absolutely infuriated me with their lack of assistance or response. I have two receipts for charge purchases from that hotel and yet they say they know nothing about my charge card or drivers' license.
